      Don't know if you ever played Homeworld back in the day but I'm thinking up a build for an Ion Frigate from that game and I'd be curious to see your take on it since you were saying you're trying to come up with some builds that aren't the usual wide and flat designs.

    • @delindsay
      @delindsay  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@NotJustABarista I might be able to pull something like that off. I was looking at Eve Online Ships to see what else I could manage (probably just Caldari, Ore & Minmatar Ships) and one in particular looks a lot like that Ion Frigate.

      I've particularly enjoyed your themed builds. They have inspired me.
      In WW2 the US used the Pratt & Whitney R2800 engine extensively - in fighters, bombers, single, twin and four engined. Everyone has heard of the Merlin, but I'd like to see a Merlin come home with a cylinder blown off. They were an unsung technological masterpiece.
      So I thought "What if there'd been a supply shortage during the War, and a shipyard only had access to a single engine type, say, Supernova engines?"
      They're all C class, but the results are actually pretty impressive. 100 mobility in both single and twin configurations - at 3 and 6 energy to run the engine(s) that leaves a lot of excess power. But they're very 'focused' fighters.
      So, maybe some videos of "fleets" of related craft?

    when connected fore to aft instead of port/starboard the shelving in the companionway has food/drink that refreshes everytime it's replaced, the food is all either +5/+10 kits so if you don't want to cook and don't wanna buy food it's a great unlimited free source

    Just enjoy all your ship building videos - really helped me when I was figuring out what to do. Just wanted to pop in an comment on how in the world Bethesda could have missed a vertical spine? Port/starboard, fore/aft... what about up/down (other than the cross spine which may do it I guess)? Could have helped with some tiered ship building without the bulk. Oh well. Just a thought.

    I'm so glad I found your channel. Very good detailed explanation of all the pieces. I did have an issue when I was building a ship. For some reason on the left side, the 2 Nova Galactic habs I connected to each other were walled off where there should have been a doorway. The right side worked fine, so to make the ship look good I had to insert 2 of the Hopetech spines between the habs on either side. That solved the problem but am wondering why those 2 on the left side would not open and only worked if I put the spines in.

    I've been using the Cabot Bridge with a combination of spines, passageways and habs to create a 2 story ladder free ship. Except for the docking point. Which that ladder is there always anyway.

    My only wish was that there was something that was a mix of the Nova Crossway and HopeTech Spine in making a 1x fwd/aft crossway that is only .5 wide so that you could use it on the center snap points on the Cabot cockpit and central passageway and connect your 1x modules to them and the outer snap points of the Cabot. Then, be able to say that the only ingress/egress is where the crossway connects to the module. On my warships/military ships, I bypass the structural hull pieces and use companionways so I can buff my hull, which is important for a ship for battle. But for other builds, I'd rather have crossways and spines.
    And I never new about the HopeTech Fuselage. I learned something new. Don't know if I want to build a "Space Mack" all HT ship now or maybe a Class B heavy interceptor. Now look what you did. lol

    They should add door and stairs placements like the windows but are able to be sandwiched between 2 habs and an internal view building option like outposts have.

    If the companionways/storerooms provided actual cargo numbers...even just 50... plus more hull, one might could justify the doors at every module, and would help differentiate them from spines and cross-passages.

    I feel like the 14 mass has to have been a typo. It makes zero sense that these weigh more than even 3x3 habs.

      @delindsay  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can only HOPE that it's a type, all of them weighing 4 seems more like it, though 4-5 for the Spine/Fuselages & 3 for the Crossways makes even more sense.

    i don't know why but I thought that hopetech ver. is also meant to be 4 mass like nova and bethesda just made a mistake... 14?!! just because it has snap points, i mean normal companion way/storage has snap points too but only 5... so i assumed, but maybe i was wrong and they meant it the way it is....

    I thought you were going to show me that those side hull things were walkways. Was wondering why you would have them on both sides to a 1x1 and then extending rearward. I like that the crossways automatically remove doors. Not sure why those hopetech hulls dont do the same so there are not so many doors.

    I have a bad habit of fast travelling to the Red Mile without my space suit on, I wish there were an option to spawn in the ship after the first time you visit a planet. I keep an armory at my debarkation ramp so I can suit up appropriately for wherever I am and having to turn around and get back on the ship to get my gear after landing just feels weird, especially on planets where I should basically just die instantly being outside unprotected.

    Would be great in a future of update starfield (not available on ps5 ever) that with enough firepower, modules connections would weaken, till if they're all zero they would snap off. Seperate hp for modules like we have for ground outpost resource excavators and power generators and then some.

      Is there any mod that can allow us to put corridors or doors on habs? Kinda frustrating that habs won't join even though you made sure that they both have access points. So you're forced to run big circles around your ship even though the habs are side by side.

After I've done a certain thing and send a bullet to a certain fat guy with a hat, every time I enter Hopetech two security person comes to kill me, I just use a EM gun and put them to sleep, then everybody in Hopetech go back to their work like nothing ever happened, hahahahaha.
    So far, I've only managed to build a single ship using the Crossways in a way that would look good, I think I can't see a nice way to build something like the CivShuttle, assimetrical but still good looking. Spines and Crossways are another thing I would like to see an expansion, every manufacturer should have at least one of each, I see no sense in only Hopetech having it and Nova having a simple one.
