This movie is the last one in the DCAMU. They did a Superman animated movie after this one... but it remains to be seen if they’re actually gonna have it be part of a new shared universe or if they’re gonna be standalone movies. The upcoming JSA is in the same art style as the superman movie so it wouldn’t surprise me if they do make it a new shared universe but as far as I’m aware there’s no confirmation for that yet

This was definitely the most evil and successful version of Darkseid yet as his actions in this film really shows just how malevolent he is and that he succeeded in destroying the Earth and taking over the enitre universe

Huh, never noticed that as the universe was being rewritten, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman were the very last to disappear into the light in the final shot, after everyone else had already disappeared. Original trio were the last to go.

That last shot is always so cool to me, in nearly every iteration of the DC multiverse, the trinity are always the first/last to come and go, and the flash is always the constant. Also I love how the ending here paralleled the start of this whole continuity in Flashpoint Paradox (y’all should watch that if you’ve never seen it!)
this movie touches my heart including Robin and Raven's relationship.
I learned recently the reason Constantine ram form the first battle was because Zattana and Batman had a deal that if shit went bad Zattana needed to get Constantine out so she made him run away. It’s also why when he’s resurrected he says he and bats are gonna have a talk.
I genuinely hope that after watching this movie people will start to understand the whole "Martha" scene. Because it happened all over again here except with Bruce almost killing his son.
Exactly. Bruce didn't hesitate to kill Superman because their moms were the same name. He hesitated because he realized that Clark was a person with a family that loves him, and didn't want to take him away from his family, like Bruce's parents were taken from him. He realized in that moment that he would've become no better than that thug in Crime Alley. He would've truly become the villain.
@@Stanos_1 Yep, at that moment he realized that he is in the same place as Joe Chill! Not to mention that he had to see Dick leave, Jason beaten to death by Joker and who knows how Tim ended up in this universe...

@@curtismurphy6206 It's honestly the same, except people who know Batman thru movies only won't be able to connect the dots. I mean Supes and Bruce even look very similar, just like Bruce and Damien.
And honestly, I don't understand what did people exactly expect would happen in BvS? That Bruce would actually take of Supes? Everything about Bruce is circling around his childhood trauma. Just like when Bruce saw himself in Damien, he saw himself in Clark when the name of his mother was brought up. In both cases, Bruce had to wake himself up.
But your right, it was done better here because it was obvious. In BvS it needed for people to genuinely know the backstory and what it means on a larger scale.
If it was better or not is not important, what's important is that it was the same scene in different colors. Bruce becoming Joe Chill, realizing it and fighting back. Same concept, same result.

I just thought of something if they do Rebirth movies they could do it like this when Flash changes time Dr Manhattan could erase Flash memories and do what ever he like.
I can see that if they do that for the animated films. High chance the first rebirth animated film they would do is Superman with his son since that was the biggest showcase for rebirth to get comic readers and general ppl to know.
Finally I’ve been waiting for you to react to this, I know that your a big DC fan and knowing you would react to this, made me really happy, this movie was dark and very crazy and a lot of emotions and it was just a amazing thrill ride, now just imagine if they made this live action, the ratings would sky rocket like hell

17:38 I think it was supposed to feel weird and out of place. The setup to the joke being that she thought Constantine meant he hooked up with Harley Quinn, which she already found revolting. And then learning it was with King Shark instead. lol
I think of it like “Days of Future Past” in the worst possible scenario happens and the fallout of that happens and the only way to change it is to stop it from happening is to do another massive change to the timeline

@@janokjaran That's the one from all the way in 2014, I am talking about the one in 2016 after BVS came out and Snyder and Terrio made changes to it, for example Deadshot was changed to Deathstroke and Joker, it was actually Clark and Lois' baby instead of Bruce's, etc.

And they say Snyder is dark like it's a detriment to storytelling... DC has a spectrum ranging from light to dark which deserves praise for it's versatility.

Superman man of tomorrow is the first movie in the new rebirth timeline there’s new voice actors, new animation, etc. I’m not crazy about the new animation yet but it’s growing on me. Overall it has me intrigued for the new timeline.
Thats a standalone film. They have no plans to make the new universe connectivity. So they focused on standalone films.

My guy Martian man hunter is in the movie plus they literally setup batman with Lois lane having the pictures of Superman, batman, and I’m sure she has pics of other JL members. Plus they literally setup a rebirth universe with Barry creating a new timeline at the end of apocalypse war and why would they make a Superman origin movie for the hell of it cause we’ve had standalone Superman origin movies already we don’t need another one so logically it’s to setup the rebirth universes Superman. Now no one knows 100% that this is a start of a new universe but all the evidence points toward it.
@@ARCT1CGH05T Thats why the company announced after the end of JLD Apokalypse War & before the start of SP Man of Tomorrow. They'll focused on standalone films. This film is 1 of their experiments that which the animator had explained with it. Once all of the animated films were perfected. Thats the time they will make them, if their superiors decide it to. Great how long those experiments & standalones last? Well we'll never know. All we can do is wait for now. For the mean time let see the JSA ww2 film will do & give as a post credit or something I hope.

So, my personal theory is the new timeline Barry creates by running back is going to start with the new Justice Society World War 2 movie, since Barry suddenly appears there from the future.
This movie is my absolute favorite DC movie. I want the real live movies to be like this. This is just amazing writing.

In every movie there is a moment when the hero hits rock bottom. In Jamaica -0 is when Jhon Candy's beloved sleigh breaks, in deadpool 2, it is when Wade falls from the Ice Box mountain, in bambi 1 and 2, it is when his mother dies and his father gives him to another female🦌( respectively) in Avengers 1,2,3 and 4, it is when Phill Coulson dies, the Avengers must go into hiding when Hulk lost control, when Thanos kills mid-life and when Black Widow dies (respectively). But in this movie, that's when the actors signed on to do the voices of the fallen heroes and villains. No. That's when the producers came up with making this movie. F for dead heroes and villains 💔💔💔💔

The title itself made it known, this wasn't going to be sunshine and rainbows. Plus, I actually enjoyed the ending to wrap up one continuity and begin another.

Rebirth Damian`s the same age as he was at the start of the DCAMU or a couple years older and Stuart Allan`s 22 now so they`re almost certainly going to need to recast him!

I felt happy for Etrigan in the end, That's how anyone would wanna die without regrets. WB knows what they are doing, even though it's animated I felt it touch my soul more than End game. Even though I love Marvel I think DC would always be better. Next Enter Dr Manhattan in DC Universe.

While I do like the movie for what it is, I do have some gripes about how they go about it and the pick and mix of who lives and who dies. Constantine is the main one for me with that since his character is really not to be the leader of anything, he's the dude in the back who pulls the needed rabbit out of the hat, normally at someone else's expense, while he remains well clear of the blast zone. But here he is the main man, in the thick of it being more like the Batman of Magic... perhaps best exemplified when everyone stands around and patiently waits several seconds for him to come up with a distraction literally sitting in the ground 10 feet from them loudly growling.
Aside that, it's a great way to close out this series. I don't think any of the voice actors or the style will be coming back since this is also the studio's chance to change whatever they feel like changing. Even if they are going to continue with a inter-movie continuity? Like you have the JSA coming up and the surprise visitor doesn't look like he's come from this movie.
I liked this movie when it came out. But now, after thinking about it a few months later, in my opinion its not that great. It felt like DCs version of the marvel comic "ULTIMATUM". Overall its just a story to kill off characters the writers don't care about (Which is the majority of the heroes with barely any dialogue), for the purpose of starting over. But, for those of you who still enjoyed it anyway, im happy for you. I wished it did.✌
P.S. I still like that scene in the end where everything is being restarted. Great moment to say goodbye.👍

One thing I don't get about this is superman wanted to go to war with darkseid and apocalypse so why didn't he ask wonder woman,aquaman, green lantern to bring in the Amazons and Atlanteans, Green lantern armies to help they would have still been destroyed but it a lot smarter than only bring a dozen to 16 people to fight a inter planet
They even could have bought in the new gods of new genesis and i bet there were thousands of worlds that would be willing to fight with them

Gonna be honest... I’m someone who liked a lot of these “new 52” style animated movies and I hate this movie. It just feels like a dc version of the marvel comic event “ultimatum”. It’s just killing off characters in shocking and dark ways... in attempt to shock the audience and to make it feel like the story has stakes.
By the 3rd or 4th death I no longer cared. Because the characters no longer felt like characters... they’re just randoms who happen to be wearing the costume of a dc character. The only one that gave me any sort of emotional reaction was nightwing, and that’s simply because he’s been notoriously mistreated in these movies and it annoys me to see him once again go out like a chump.
It also didn’t make the movie feel like it had stakes because it was painfully predictable where the ending was going since they mentioned flashpoint early on so I also didn’t care cause I knew this would all be reversed anyway.
The worse part is that many characters die off screen and most don’t even get dialogue. In fact they literally introduced new characters (such as Wallace West kid flash) and then have them die off screen with no dialogue. It just makes you go? What was the point of them “introducing” that character in this movie if they’re just gonna kill them off in such a easy way. Is it just so it can make sure it’s killing off as many people’s favourites as possible? Wonder girl is another example. She was introduced at the end on Judas contract and then she’s killed off in this movie extremely quickly. It just feels like wasted potential.
I understand it’s trying to make it feel like “oh man the heroes have really gotten fucked up this a bad situation” but I felt forced and none of the deaths are done in an impactful way outside of their shock value. I mean Aquaman’s death doesn’t even get full animation, it’s pretty much just a slide show. This is a character that had an entire movie dedicated to introducing him (throne of Atlantis) and he’s killed in a slide show.
Then of course there’s Damian coming back to life via raven. That felt like the ending of Disney princess movie because let’s face it all that scene is basically “and then raven brings him back to life... because power of love”. And once again that doesn’t matter anyway because Damian would have (presumably) been brought back via the new flashpoint anyway.
That being said. There is some interesting stuff in this. Trigon vs darkseid is a pretty cool concept. The cyborg justice league was also quite interesting. The focus on a non superhero like John Constantine is pretty cool. Etrigan being part of the main cast is always a good thing. And the Damian Batman thing was pretty solid. (Even though they already did the evil brainwashed batman thing in batman bad blood)
But yeah I don’t like this movie. Like I said just felt like DC’s version of Ultimatum, especially it serves the same purpose of ending a universe of stories.
I feel like this movie would've been better if it was A) split up into to parts and B) if there were way more movies that came before it. A couple more Teen Titans movies, a Green Lantern film, a Flash film, a Superman film, an Aquaman film, and another Justice League film to really flesh out some of these characters. Spend the first film showing the Justice League invading Apokolips, and show them losing, while actually putting up a fight, instead of showing their deaths in a quick montage. Same for the Teen Titans on Earth. Then spend the next film showing how everyone has moved on post-Darkseid. And make the final battle feel rewarding. Oh, and have Barry making a new Flashpoint a surprise. There. Rant over.

I agree with everything you just said. I definitely think having it be multiple parts in particular would solve a lot of this movie’s problems. Gives more time to have each and every death mean something.
I think I would have had the first movie have some sort of specific thing the JL needs to get to in order to beat darkseid. As they get closer and closer to it more and more heroes sacrifice themselves. Then when they finally get to it and victory seems in reach... darkseid snatches it away from them. He shows up, foils their plans and the survivors are forced to flee back to earth. Meanwhile you could have a secondary plot of the titans defending earth as darkseid sends half of his troops to attack the planet whilst the rest are fighting the JL apokoplis. Many titans die in the defensive but they too ultimately loose and are forced into hiding. The movie ends with the two groups meeting on earth, wondering what to do next. The second then picks up where this one does with a time skip and the de-powered superman regathering the remaining heroes for a last ditch effort.
The second movie could then easily just follow the plot of this one. Except now it does feel desperate and hopeless because we had an entire previous movie focuses on the loss. The flashpoint is never brought up until they discuss it at the end of the movie as being the only option they have left. (Maybe they don’t even specifically say what the final option is until we see flash go back in time)
