30 years ago today, Southern Harmony was released and soon became one of my desert island albums. THIS moment RIGHT HERE though was when my life changed forever. The day I became aware of what this band could really be, and everything I'd been looking for. I clearly remember watching this in my bedroom and being absolutely floored. From that second on, I was hooked for life. It sounds even better today than it did then. WOW! SO glad somebody put this up. I'll never forget it.
They were really firing on all cylinders for this performance. This TV performance is my favorite of this song from everything I've seen here on You Tube.
Even though I have known how great the Crowes are forever and am a huge fan, they always blow my mind when I see a vintage performance like this this one..Just killer.
@@markmorgan8000 Rod it is. And after 30 years of watching these guys I realized something : Chris (like Rod) never performs without the microphone stand. I have never seen either just sing into a handheld mike!
Was just thinking that too. This and the MTV awards when they played Remedy. Good times! It was a great time be in my 20's :) Last real surge of Rock and Roll
We got a shock, in France, when this album (the southern and musical companion)came out (In the rock creed, of course!)...fuck man! it was sooo good...
Love this band to death. Steve is such a visual contrast to the other guys. He bangs the heck out of that basic kit he uses. Miss the Marc and Ed years....
His voice is surprisingly still amazing. we went to see Brothers of a Feather right before COVID hit and were kind of floored by how great he sounded. didnt think he still had it in him
Pardon me if I start with the fact that Chris has great hair. Having said that ...this is music at it's very best. Everything is superb...everyone is pounding it out on all cylinders and the movement and grind are perfection.
Def. You can really understand the lyrics more than any other version I have heard. Sometimes he tended to almost mumble them in a way where it was hard to hear each word clearly. They were on fire at this time just coming off touring every night basically for 2 yrs straight or more. Something like well over 300 shows for the SYMM tour. That is what really gets a band tight and improves musicianship. Just get out there and fucking play play play.
He’s probably going full out here to make it “extra good” because it’s TV and also just the one song, probably has to pace himself for a full 1hr+ show
@@cinsationalcinema1776 that's pretty F'n impressive. Anything north of 100 is truly enviable. Our bass player has you beat slightly by about dozen or so...our lead singer went to about 60...we would all go back in time to check em out all over again
I don't care what anyone says - at this point in time Chris was the best live singer around besides Gregg Allman. He could put chills on me every time they played back then. Eddie Vedder and Layne Staley were right behind him.
Oh hell yeah.... His voice was glorious night after night. So many live shows and Chris is always on point. Beautiful band. The magpie salute are pretty good too. Check them out. Crb is good, but a much diff Chris
It's too bad the Crowes embarked on a retreat from the mainstream and a slow burn of self destruction from 1994 onward. Chris Robinson had the charisma and gift of gab to match any of the Gallagher brothers and exceeded most rock front men of that era.
@Mike Cap Oh, don't get me wrong. Amorica, Three Snakes and By Your Side are all terrific albums, but they lacked the spark of those first two albums. Also, as a live band, their 1994-96 period was a little too jam-band-oriented.
@@arturoandrade9089 I liked the jam band thing as much as I liked early Crows. Amorica is my favorite album of theirs followed by southern harmony and then shake your money maker. I think their first three were probably the best
@@arturoandrade9089 One of the greatest rock albums ever...I don't even consider them southern rock and I've lived just below Ga. for 58 years. they lost me on the jam band thingy too. However, they did get back on track with By Your Side.

Johnny Colt ripping the bass here along with Chris, Rich, Marc, Ed, and Steve tearing it up. Who else loves this?
What is not to love?? This is the band in their prime with a truly unique chemistry. Johnny is so tasteful and musical, that's a nice shout out
Hell Yes! That’s the lineup. Raw energy. Like a freight train. Love it!
Crowes in 92 was just as magnificent as The Stones in 72
Amen
Damn right!

Classic Black Crowes! By far, my favorite line-up of the band. Steve Gorman is great as always!
absolutely the definitive line up. Gorman is brilliant.

Well said, my friend 😊
Love this era of the band.
I had to watch this after reading Steve's book. Awesome performance! Those lovely back-up singers were also fantastic!
Absolutely incredible songwriting on full display!! I can’t get enough of this band. 🤘🏽
It was such a treat watching late night talk shows and catching your favorite bands back in the day!!!
Who just read about it in Steve's book and had to see it? 😄
What did he say?

so great back then watching the Crowes bringing the early 70's into the 90's - loved it and still do
Black Crowes were the Doors of the 90's!! Spiritual, Talented and So effen good🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
proper rock n roll. grooves, swagger, soulful, danceable
Such a great rock band ...Southern is such a killer record !
Wow love the Crowes , never seen this performance before , saw them in the Apollo Manchester in 92 best concert ever , atmosphere was electric !!
holy shit! What a great band
Absolutely brilliant live version of this classic. They nailed it.
Great Band! American rock-n-soul at it's finest!
Cant wait for this Saturday..seeing them in Wilmington. Hell yes
Still sounds great. Power blues rock
Classics always stand the test of time :-)
Let's not overlook the monster of a rhythm guitar player that is Rich Robinson..
Riffmaster-In-Chief.
You bet
Well so! The best live shows I ever attended🎶🎩♥️✨ thankful for their music….helped me survive this long strange trip!
just awesome... PERIOD.
Say Goddamn! Talk about a Fire gettin ready to blaze. That’s fuckin raw ass energy.
Chris Robinson really had “it” ... Steve Marriott meets Joe Cocker ... Mick Jagger’s moves.
Don't forget Steven Tyler.
Rod Stewart from The Faces era.
And alot of Mick :)

The greatest line up of the greatest band. They owned rock!!!!
I like B.C a very Zeppelin style, Face. Chris a fantastic voice, I saw them in concert this month in Buenos Aires. Magical

"More JohnColtrane"
Chris knew good music and that Branford could roll that shit!
My favourite Black Crowes song.
The real deal. As good if not better than Stones, Faces, Humble Pie, Aerosmith etc for my money better than the lot at this point.
Best live performance of this track. Chris never sings it as well as he does here!
