Jeez - some variability with the condition of those tow-paths.! You did well to keep going but some lovely countryside and interesting industrial scenes along the way 👍👍
Hi Dave, Dad grew up in Sutton in Craven just across the valley from Kildwick. He was 13 and rushed out of school to watch the aeroplane circling and sadly finally crashing into the canal bank. A few days later with some of his pals they rode over on their bikes and like kids do searched about when the guards had their backs turned...he found some .303 bullets which he took home!!😲 His father (ex RN WW1) gave him a real bollocking...he taught Dad a lesson which I won't go into here! Sorry to go on, boring I'm sure! Great adventure TFS cheers Alistair 👍
Great to put a story to the crash , boys will be boys. The airfield they flew out of is only 20 mile from me and my old Nana and grandad lived nearby , we used to pass the old hangers (still there today at Silloth) tfw atb Dave 🚲👍
I really enjoyed this. It gave me a lot of food for thought and it was great to watch a channel where it wasnt just a gear review. I've subscribed and am looking forward to the next one.
Think I'll leave it a couple of months before I do it! Steeton to Leeds section is generally OK though in all weather, but that's as far out as I really know. Looks like it's dependant on a nice period of weather a bit further out! Well done though, a great ride!
Dear me, there were some proper dangerous sections on those tow paths! It looked like a great route though, and one you'll remember with the weather, mud and Premier Inn 🚵🏼🤣 a cracking good effort in those conditions on the final day. Well done lads, thoroughly enjoyed watching all 3 vids. That was a great photo on the half way mark 😁 see you on the next one :) atb DVS
Thanks Donna , yeah a few tricky sections to deal with 😂 and the hotel really lifted the spirits , hot showers , decent food what more do you need 👍 thanks for watching as always atb Dave ⛺️🚲👍
My old haunts that section, well Hapton to Barlick. Nelson where I lived for a few years. Barrowford Locks are great. I have big knobbly MTB tyres and I find it hard in this weather. That were push at th'end lads thi did reyt. I home soon, just a few more hours int Dales. Poncho, 2 x 3 basha and zigzag mat with a 200 sleeping bag with liner does me. Slept like a bear me mates say..lol....oh snored like a bear, I see! Hawes Farm, lovely people -even arranged us milk and eggs for brekkie. May the 4th be wi' thi.
This is my local section of the Canal in Rishton Area. My house faces the canal at the 3:09 mark. Ride along it most days in loops of various length. It does get very very muddy in places after rain. And last years weather followed by this years awful weather has made it hideous. The very muddy section you went through near Riley’s is usually bone dry at this time of year. Not seen it this bad for a good few years.
Normally, when it's dry, that section can be rough but not as difficult / energy-sapping as you encountered but after prolonged rain.... well, you found out
Brilliant end to the video series mate, was a tough 3rd day, but lovely to look back on, thanks for making the videos, see you on the next one!😁⛺️🚲👍🏻
Yes it was, but we have it to look back on and forget how tough it was 😂 until the next trip 🚲⛺️👍

Thanks , yeah a few sketchy spots but still a very lovely part of the country tfw atb Dave
Cracking effort lads well done. Really enjoyed that set of videos. Those tow paths looked woeful. Great achievement in those conditions👍
Glad you enjoyed it and yes the towpaths need a decent dry spell to sort them out . tfw atb Dave ⛺️🚲👍

Well, that looked a bit of a challenge! Thanks guys, that was very entertaining 😀
Glad you enjoyed it atb Dave 🚲👍
Planning doing this on a gravel bike in September - 38mm tyres - looks like (if it is drier) should be ok. Thanks for the video
It should be much drier then 😂 my gravelking tyres are 38 mm 👍
Well done, Dave, that looked like a tough last day.👍
Yes it was, heavy going in places 😂 tfw atb Dave 🚲👍
Love watching your adventures. I always think Ian is going to fall in the canal, he gets so close! 😄
Thanks very much, yeah it always looks worse on camera 😂 atb Dave ⛺️🚲👍
Really loved all 3 episodes, doing from Skipton to Wigan in high Summer over 2 days.
Thanks , really appreciate the comment , hopefully it will be a lot drier on the towpaths for you atb Dave 👍

Yeah good call , it will take a while to dry out ! but when it does it will have plenty of ruts in it . tfw atb Dave 🚲⛺️👍

Thanks mate , if you found it tough on an mtb 😂 it must be bad lol . Sounds like you have had a great trip in the dales 🚲👍 atb Dave
@@davesolobiker5601 I'm old and very unfit. But my love outdoors will keep me going out.
laughed at how precise the mileage markers were dave 🤣 definitely mtb terrain in parts even E bike😏 good learning curve & well done you both 💪🚴
Cheers Geordie , the winter dampness took its toll on those paths , big knobbly tyres were the order of the day 😂 tfw atb Dave 🚲👍

Lovely section of the canal mate 👍 in hindsight I should have used my MTB instead of my gravel bike , it was pretty bad in sections 😂😂 atb Dave 🚲👍
Good going today guys.
Thanks yes tough in places atb Dave 🚲⛺️👍
Epic ride in those conditions. I'm very familiar with the section from Blackburn to Gargrave, Its not always that bad but we had a very wet winter.
Thanks yeah , we were fully expecting rough sections with how wet a winter we’ve had, atb Dave 🚲⛺️👍
Well you guys could not have picked a worse few day's to do the ride.
I feel for you both 😢 great film also ❤
We thought we cracked it on the 1st day 😂 how wrong , but we hit there in the end 👍
Normally, when it's dry, that section can be rough but not as difficult / energy-sapping as you encountered but after prolonged rain.... well, you found out
Yeah we were eager to do it , April just a bit too early most likely 😂 but still good to look back on 🚲👍
Impressive 💪👍
Thanks ✌atb Dave 🚲👍
Wow 74 miles on the last day some bloody mileage that is.
Yeah we didn’t plan it , it just happened but it won’t happen again lol . We are more of a relaxed pace of cycling , the next ones will be that 🚲⛺️👍
Good stuff Dave , one final big push and no pubs - are the two related ?
Great video as always , cheers Mick
lol , yeah we had the heads down 😂 if we got into a pub we would have stayed 🍺👍 tfw atb Dave 🍺🚲👍
The metal bridge over canal at 17 mins ish used to climb on that when I was a kid I was born facing it in Armley…what’s Ian’s TH-cam pls 👍🏻👍🏻🚴🚴
Great stuff , Ian’s channel is called Morty Outdoors but he doesn’t have vids on it , yet ……
