    Just started using it.....makes it easy to create sharp edges with a lot less effort than without it. Is especially easy if you have been using it on an edge as the Edgit just runs inside the already created groove. A game changer for me.

    Man, I've been using one of these for more than 8 years. It's one of the best tools I've purchased. I remember when I saw one of the neighborhood landscapers using this and wondered - "what in the world is that" - as he zipped down the curb edging the lawn. I found out what it was and immediately did a google. It has been attached to my Echo SRM 230 ever since. I just lock it between the curb and the grass and roll and make a perfect edge in no time, all the time.
    I, too, had one of the attachment with the blade and even a machine with the blade. The Edgit is waay better than both in my opinion and the better investment for this type of work. I now have to get one for my Echo 266T (another beast).

    We've been using these for 20 years in Columbus Ohio, on Redmax and Shindaiwa... Chain link fences are a breeze with these..and the amount of line we go through was cut in half, they easily pay for themselves the first year..

      +jmwilson614 I agree they are a great tool. I just hate that they spray so much rocks and debris every where. I also found that when trimming around trees the string doesn't wrap around the trunk like a regular trimmer does.

    I like the way they flatten out those areas you want more even. they do add quite a bit of weight to the tip of the trimmer and I never could get a thin line while edging with it.

  • @martianshoes

    As a full-on string trimmer I have to ask;
    1. What limits the string length?
    2. How does it trim in to corners and narrow areas?

    • @AmbrosLandscapingInc
      @AmbrosLandscapingInc  ปีที่แล้ว

      The string length has more to do with engine power than the edgit pro itself. I typically will cut the string flush with the edgit pro and do 2 bumps to get the length I like. It does good in corner (unless it's by building or obstacles the disc can't fit it) you just have to lift it up and free hand it rather than resting it on the ground

    How do you get more line as you shred it along the sidewalk? Is it auto-feed? You can't see over the disc.

    • @AmbrosLandscapingInc
      @AmbrosLandscapingInc  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vas Sladek it depends on your trimmer head....I have a Echo bump feed head so I just hit it in the ground to get more string out. Depending on how you hold the trimmer you can see the line but you can also hear the whip of the line and rev of the engine as well to know when it’s getting shorter

    Neat idea, but pretty much usless. Bought one of these a couple years ago. We mow about 3 years many with alot of edging. This adds significant weight to the very end of the trimmer head. It also has a tendacy to "Suction" to the ground. I tried it for most of one season and I am back to running my red max trimmers with bare head, no guard. Lighter, faster, way more maneuverable.

    Lol yeah I get my edger blades 50 for 50 and they last a season. Ok also i used to edge the traditional way, but now my trademark is my super defined 45 degree edge it gives my lawns a 3d pop. Why do you feel like it should only be straight, I'm not saying either way is the best but I like to learn from everyone, every person has the potential to know more than you so I like to hear the experience of all

    • @AmbrosLandscapingInc
      @AmbrosLandscapingInc  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Daryl, I completely understand where your coming from. We do the 90 degree because its gives the lawn that "carpet effect" that most clients like. We maintain a few condo associations with well over 300 people, and they all hate the 45 degree that their previous landscapers did. When doing it around beds, it cuts into the ground which can then cause disease and moss (of course depending on where you live and how deep you cut).

    • @darylrussell7959
      @darylrussell7959 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah of course not around beds, I mean just around walkways and driveways etc. But like with your picture for the video it's beautiful and I don't think the 45 would be complimentary, you know what it may be better to do the 45 on shorter grass as supposed to thicker cold season grasses

    • @hiredexpectations9037
      @hiredexpectations9037 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd have to add, coming from the same region as ambros, that generally speaking cutting a 45 on a hard edge would mean your taking at least 30-50% of the grasses overall length off in the last two inches of turf before edge end. Being that edges already are problematic to our cool season grasses due th drying out and "browning" it would only perpetuate that problem by trimming the edges shorter when placing a 45. In my opinion, a crisp, sharp defined 90 degree edge that has an equal grass length running throughout the entire turf surface is the true mark of a well seasoned landscaper.

    • @darylrussell7959
      @darylrussell7959 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I understand that, that's why I'm questioning it. I started off doing that way but the look I achieve when doing a 45 is breathtaking but like you said with your cool season grasses, It would depend, I never had a problem with browning on my edges, because I use an edger to make a more uniform cut, in my opinion I respect it and when done well its a thing of beauty but when I put my edge on it, it really brings a yard to life. Thank you for your input, because my whole dilemna is that even though it looks good, is it separating me from the best or is it making me the best. We're obviously all trying to be the best at what we do, I guess I need to do some research to be sure. I've gotten so many compliments from residents, park goers, and business alike. So if you know any articles or anything that can get me off doing it I'd be glad to read it.

    Like the product. I'll probably buy one for doing the beds, but for sidewalks, walkways, driveways etc I'll stick with our metal blade edgers, they create a a deeper edging and straighter edge and is faster to edge with. PS. anything at Home Depot or Lowe's is going to be more expensive, we pay $1.00 for each our blades and last us about week and half.

      You don't. It'll trim off naturally as you're working. It's no different from using a string trimmer without a guard on it, which I've been doing for years. Plus, when the string is allowed to be longer (beyond where the guard's blade would normally be trimming it), you can run the engine at lower RPMs and reduce fuel consumption.

      Ambro's Landscaping Inc. what sucker buys them two at a time at Home Depot? Yes, even at bulk prices, stick edge blades will cost more than this contraption, assuming it lasts for more than a year. However, I think the additional cost is worth it. Stick edging looks better than string trimmer edging every time. And less chance for damaging something.

    This does not work like a lawnmower. A lawnmower sucks up grass because the blades are designed to. This would have little if not negative suction. In the video I can see it missing more and taking more effort then a regular setup would. Also, blades are about $1 a piece not $8-$10. I could see using this every other time switching between it and an actual edger but never for trimming as you can't see the actual work you are doing. If you get a 4-mixer trimmer you wont have to worry about windows as you can feather the power. Power when you need it and low power when it counts.

    i have the srm 230 but no edgit pro but it's still a good weed eater and lol the edgit por sucks up the grass, you said, so that makes weed eaters a little bit more like weed "eaters" lol especially if edgit pro was for the crappy brand weed eater which it's not lol

      Ambro's Landscaping Inc. Good for u on your spelling.. Guess u would know how to spell that considering u "whack" your edges instead of using an actual edger..

      +Ambro's Landscaping Inc. Tomorrow. It's too bad you're the owner. I have never seen an employee actually work that quickly. I bust my butt like that, but an employee that does would be amazing. It looks like you have a good thing going. Congrats on the business.
