I'm from the Bahamas...a few years ago my 14 yr old son went on a trip to Belize with his school.... hours after they landed he lost his life and was found at the bottom of a river. I never got a an opportunity to meet with the chaperones until 2 months later... in addition I was told NOT TO COME to his school, and I later learned that parents and his classmates were instructed NOT TO SPEAK to me. I'm sharing this because... even those we hold to a high moral standard...decided to protect themselves despite such a grotesque situation. It was more than a slap in the face... clearly they didn't give 2 F'ks as to what our family was going through. To this day.. I'm appalled at how things were handled... and even more appalled that no one was held accountable for his demise. With that said.. please note that the Bahamas isn't unsafe.. people are just f'kd up. Yes there is crime in the Bahamas like everywhere else. I think that people have a false sense of security when they're in the islands or a place deemed beautiful and peaceful. It's unfortunate that Taylor's family is experiencing this and I pray for their comfort at this time... and that Taylor is found and they get the answers and respect they deserve. When I finally met with my son's chaperone's... according to them.. no one knew anything..and. NO ONE saw what happened to my son. A year later I received a call from the US Embassy in Belize that someone had turned in my son's go pro..........they asked if I wanted it.... (THE FN AUDACITY!!) of course I wanted it... They sent it via regular mail... it took a month for me to receive it... once I watched the recording... the truth was finally revealed...............................they watched my son drown...................................further.............he attempted to get help more than once.........no one extended a hand to save him. In Taylor's case.. I feel like the yoga retreat and those associated requires a full and thorough investigation. However... other people have access to the beach as well and it's tough to figure out who and what occured. I hate these types of situations because people are just straight up dishonest or just tight lipped..and it's unfortunate. As for the family being 'strangely quiet'... personally when my situation occured...I truly didn't have the mental or emotional capacity to speak to anyone I didn't have to. It literally took me 4 years to speak about my son's situation without breaking down. People must understand... you're truly not yourself when you're going through these types of situations. My prayer is that regardless of where we all are.....................situational awareness is your best friend. Don't allow beautiful surroundings to give you a false sense of security.................and sadly ............... TRUST NO ONE (especially when traveling alone). Also PLEASE take self defense classes... consider it a gift to yourself. Blessings to Taylor's family... my heart breaks for you... #muchlove

I just read their website of the retreat and many of the rooms do not have bathroom facilities and you have to leave your room and go to a bathroom facility. I am wondering if that is a safety issue and something happened to her going to a facility when it was dark out, just a thought. The retreat is so isolated and out at night to use those facilities, I would be scared myself. Nothing has been said whether her belongings were in her room still. Also from their website, the place looks bohemian to me and wonder if there is any security. If there are no roads, anyone stranger not staying there can walk along that beach at night and cause harm. And strange they don’t like the publicity of the missing woman. I get a strange feeling about that place, being isolated, no roads, have to take THEIR Boat to get there and they don’t want it states in their website, customers going into Nassau from the retreat. Odd too. Looks like a cult.

True….why would she go in the ocean with her phone. Since people don’t usually take the phone in the water to swim with it…..it was either thrown in or she was on a boat with it and if someone abducted her they could have carried her off on a boat. Of course there’s always the possibility she walked out into the water just to get a picture….and somehow drowned or got bit by a shark or something. What’s even more odd is that no one at that yoga place saw or heard anything and act like they have no clue what’s going on around them…..or they are in on it….you never know.

These day you have to travel in a group, more than two, I’d say at least five, and never leave each other alone. Traveling like this even to a retreat, a school, whatever has gotten way too dangerous. I’ve traveled abroad alone and had the best time, but I wouldn’t do it again. Not in today’s day and age. So sad…… I hope she’s found.

Common sense tells us that she didn’t take a swim with her phone. I’m so very concerned because I don’t believe she would just walk away from her life and torture her mom.

REMEMBER - the islands have their own laws and “enforcement”. Look out for yourselves.

Who were the “people” she was on the retreat with…… Not everyone is your friend or cares about you! Be careful who you mingle with!

Ever wonder why the US doesn’t issue travel advisories for Chicago, Atlanta, Oakland, all of Florida, and all the other crime filled destinations here? There’s more crime in most places here than you’ll ever encounter in the Bahamas.

I lived there for many years and had few problems. It is beautiful there and bahamian people are lovely. This resort was most likely owned by foreigners
