Yeah, but it's not their fault. When I was 15, I was in a inappropriate relationship with someone much older. Yes, I shouldn't have been in that relationship, but I am not to blame. The adult, who should know better is responsible.
Of course educating kids about this topic is necessary, but even if they "don't listen", it's not their fault.

Kids do listen. If they fall into this trap it's because they weren't properly warned or lacked the sex education about how consent works to know it's bad.

If a 15/16 can date just fine, it should literally be the same with 17/18. Absolutely no ifs or buts about it. 16, yeah now it’s a two year gap but that seems rather okay. You cannot always use the reason of it being “bad” because one of them is a minor in these situations. It just doesn’t work in this kind of context because it’s a 1/2 year gap. If an 18 year old were to date a slightly younger teen I think 16/17 would be the most ideal. 15 just..feels weird, don’t know what to say about it. Again, something I wouldn’t recommend. I do see it as iffy but definitely not terrible if we both have the same maturity level, and we do. But I definitely agree, nobody would care if 18 wasn’t the legal age. Well done! Too many people conflate age gaps of two adults (i.e. 30 year old with 40 year old) with age gaps when one of the parties is a minor (i.e. 15 year old and 25 year old).
One of them is predatory and a crime and the other is a personal choice between two adults. We should not use the same language when discussing the two scenarios.
I'll be honest. Rules DO exist, and anybody breaking the rules would be shamed for their action.
But that doesn't mean that any of us can't break these rules, most people are hypocrites.
The thing is: All people do it privately. I know many people who did that and (later) they married to each other and it worked.
Not that I'm praising the action, but most people who condemn others who do it themselves if they found a girl who'll make them bend the rules.

Here’s the thing. Once you pass legal age, or you are a grown adult you are aloud to make your own choices. But dating a minor is against the law and it would be weird because they are still a child. If you were 19 and dated someone 28 that’s your choice and no one should judge you for that.
The thing is, with young adults, more than a 4 year age gap means very highly likely divorce. The older you get, the less it matters.

In England Italy France Ireland and Germany as well as Cuba Jamaica, DR, and the Bahamas. 18-16 is considered a normal teenage relationship but in the USA u will always have those ppl who just throw around the “pedo” term and the R word when the age gap doesn’t even have to be 2 years, it could be a few months weeks or EVEN days as if ur 18th birthday is MAGIC.
Age gaps just depends on the person. For example there are 18 year olds that behave and have the maturity of a 16 year old and 16 year olds that behave and have the maturity of a 19 year old. Even more so women are biologically 2-3 years more mature than men. But when a man dates a younger woman it’s seen as creepy but when a woman dates a younger man it’s ok. It should really be the opposite. In general. The natural order of things men like women that are younger than them and women like men that are older than them. That’s just how things are. For example Germany is a great country and the age of consent there is 15. It is only here in the west that for some reason people see consent as only being allowed at 18. When most people on average have their first sexual experience at 14. But for me personally I think that the age of consent should be 16 because when I was 16 I could full on decide what was right and what was wrong, at 16 I could make my own decisions as to who I wanted to have sex with or not and I think it’s the same for most people. People are all different with different believes it’s up to them to decide who they want to date and most people should just mind their own business. Most relationships that I’ve seen they all have an age gap. But usually both people in that relationship have the same level of maturity. For after about 16 years old a person age is really just a number, what matters is that persons maturity.

The age of Consent in my state (NC) is unfortunately 16. Personally I think 16 is a ridiculously young age tbh! Think about it, you’re barely old enough to drive, you literally still in highschool, you can’t drink/smoke, you can’t join the military, you can’t get birthcontrol without parental consent, you can’t vote, you can’t go to the club, can’t get plastic surgery without parental consent, you can’t legally transition, you’re probably planning to go to college soon, while you can get legally emancipated however if you’re not eligible for emancipation you can’t pay rent, nor can you rent a car!!!… what makes you think you’re ready to consent at 16!?!?!? It should be 18 across the board because at least by then, you’re out of highschool, you can join the military, you can vote, you go to certain clubs, you can legally transition genders, get birthcontrol without parental consent, get elective surgery without parental consent, and you can pay rent!

We went on a date 3 months ago when we were 19 and 22. She is still 19 and will turn 20 in April so we will be 19 and 23 for a bit over 3 months and finally we will be 20 and 23 after her birthday in April so we are only 3 years 3 months apart in age. She is in 2nd year 4th semester of college and I just graduated 5-6 months ago and I am a soon to be an MBA student and wrote exams for it last month. I feel hesitant as I see many people on reddit says 19 and 23 is weird.

Yeah he is legally old enough to drink and you are still in high school and still a minor. Anything more than 2 years for someone still in school is too much. Larger age gaps are fine if the younger one is over 20. I am 36 turning 37 in 2 weeks and my girlfriend turned 23 just over a month ago. We met for the first time last year when she was 22 and I was 36. But even with a 14 year age gap we have a healthy and happy relationship as we are both adults.
