@@wiseforce7045 Hehe. Injust have to keep the suspense here... Check out my channel. I have a Q&A video. It literally titles something with "the dots". The answer is in there 😁😁😁
This video was awesome, really resonated with me! I found myself answering YES to every question except the 5th. I HATE going to the laundromat. Even though it's in my apartment complex, I hate going there. I would rather have 3 sets of clothes and just wash them every couple of days. It is such a waste of time, and someday when I move I will definitely look for a place with my own washer and dryer.
Thank you! Glad to know it helped ☺️ Yeah, I totally get that... Laundromats just suck. I had one neighbor that would always take out my laundry and he was so stinky that I felt like I need to wash everything again ugh... We have a shared dryer now though and sometimes we use it (for down blankets), but usually I hang-dry everything...
this video amazed me! I feel exactly the way you described... there is some hesitance when I think about extreme minimalism, but it seems like the right path for me. I'm glad that I found your channel :) with love from Brasil!
It's not like you can't stop at any point it starts becoming weird or too much work... Some people also like to put things in their garage or a storage unit to find out whether they want to have less... There are many ways to do this! I'm sure you'll find what's right for you. Have a great day.
I also dislike family photos cluttering up a home. A wall dentist made me smile. Enjoyed this video. You are fun. Have subscribed. Greetings from Zurich - Switzerland.
A lot of this resonated. I am a relatively extreme minimalist. It's calming. What you said about empty walls and empty floors and in particular routine is important to me. Also not feeling stress if you have to move. 'Treading more lightly in the world'. Thank you for your content and I look forward to viewing other videos.
I think animals are also extreme minimalists because all they really need are food and water. I am essentialist, i only have things that make my life easy and comfortable. lol
Haha, interesting thought. I don't think that many animals have a concept of possession... not in a sense that humans do. But for sure, nature demonstrates, how little anyone actually needs when they life a simple life.
I know extreme minimalism isn’t for me but I’m still watching this video :) clutter stresses me out but I like furniture. I love my bed, my desk and my couch. We don’t have a dinning table but that’s because we are very selective into what we bring into our house and never found one we liked. My husband will likely make on for the household eventually. It will be a solid piece with meaning and character. It will be uniquely ours.
Thank you! Really appreciate it. I think, I'm in between minimalism and extreme minimalism right now. I just sometimes miss just HOW light and easy everything felt with extreme minimalism... I think, it's also important to acknowledge one's priorities and where it is helpful and where not so much to be more or less extreme. Making your own things is so awesome! I hope he'll enjoy your things for a long time :-)
Hello Undine, thank you for yet another episode re your take on minimalism. Succinct, down to the point and encouraging also! You are a breath of fresh air indeed.. 😊
This is such a thought-provoking video. I have to dig through your videos to see if you have one about decluttering sentimental items such as cards and letters.
This is a great video thank you. I agree feeling safe and free to move or relocate would be incredible. Would you be able to talk about your clothing in a video. Ie. what each of your seasonal wardrobes include?
Yes, I want to share that. But I am working on so many things right now. I did make a travel capsule wardrobe video that kind of breaks down how I arrange a capsule wardrobe, maybe that could be useful in the meantime :-=
I think that this generation is afraid to get caught up in consumerism because we know what it can lead too. Although I am not an extreme minimalist, I am certainly a minimalist and always trying to be mindful of what I bring into my home. I am over extreme consumerism. That’s for sure. ❤️🙏🏼
I think this generation is pretty caught up in consumerism. But different than the post war generation which just accumulated stuff and couldn't throw anything away... It's this weird mix of prestigious items and cheap food and other cheap crap... IDK. Simply can't relate to most of it... The minimalism movement also isn't new. But I think that it evolves through the internet and that is why it is becoming so much more mainstream... Pretty interesting though all in all.
I agree with everything except the washing machine ;) I always hated laundromats or washing by hand. It's just one of the greatest inventions to me :D. Do you know Joachim Klöckner? I still consider his small yellow backpack the ultimate goal, it seems like total freedom to me. TH-cam just recommended your video to me, ich bin gespannt auf die anderen Videos :)!
Yes, I do. Not personally though... I hated the laundromats too, but it was a great experience. Something i will remember fro my student life and just being young and not having much stuff. I need a washing machine. But when I didn't have one, it was a nice feeling, knowing I could pack up everything in two boxes and leave the next day...
@@UndineAlmani I wouldn't take the washing machine (or fridge) with me, you can usually sell it to the next person renting the flat, at least that's what I did in my last apartment
I do washing myself not using washing machine, I use soap nut only in dirt areas and just rinse. It is comfortable since I use natural fabrics. So easy for me since I keep less clothes.
I liked washing by hand sometimes too. Still do it with my wool hiking clothes and handmade clothes. But with a family, I must say, a washing machine is practical. We actually have a shared one in our building, but it's pretty expensive... 🙄
Clothes... Use to have a real problem with them... As a result, this is the most cluttered place in my life! Although my "normal standard" people, I have very little... I was thinking of decluttering it. My husband said not to as he thinks I will end up buying again. Which is not wrong as per my history! However, I feel bad having so many clothes... I was thinking perhaps I could select a few pieces for a season and box up the rest?!? Therefore if I freak out and want to buy more, I could Shopy own store! Hahaha! What are you thinking??? Btw, I consider myself in between a regular minimalist and an extreme one! 😉
Yeah, that is a really good idea. I always do that. And sometimes I also take things out of the box again... You can also do the "turn around the hanger" trick, and if it's still turned after 1 year, it has to go ;-) Takes patience though I guess (doesn't have to be a year though, I further guess...). My family space is "moderate minimalist" and some corners are getting more extreme slowly.... I like to find my way back there, I love the emptiness too much. So weird :-D
I don't think it would be physiological. I actually enjoy stretching out at night. Getting away from the cuddled in position, to give my tendons some passive stretches from a long day... But I will definitely try a hammock. I would love one for hiking/camping. But you need a lot of equipment for that like an underquilt and a tarp etc...
hello Undine--of course i agree with you,and feel trapped with useless stuff. and here,it is But---i think ---where did this come from??? question, do you have alot of food stuff and and cooking things? really curious on this one.--thank you again --- deatra i just basically want what i use and need
Yes, we do. At least for my taste. I think we are way below the average kitchen (also we have a very small kitchen). But it is not as minimal as I would have it if I were living alone. I would just need one pan and one pot, I guess... haven't needed more in 10 years, but my husband loves to have a lot of that kind of stuff... I will make a kitchen video, but I want to get some other pans before, the ones we have are not good anymore and I don't want to keep them because they are coated.
im a janitor and last thing i want is clean my home. so i own less thing as possible to clean as least as possible. at my work there are tons of shits and shits everywhere im exausted
Boy, I get that! Had to wipe a lot of butts in my former life. At the end of the day I was too tired to cook food or anything (yeah, for a second I wanted to write "take a shower" but no...). Cleaning is so annoying. My respect for doing it professionally! 🙇🏼♀️🧽🎉
This was extremely helpful and exactly the nudge I needed to push me to the extreme minimalist side. Thank you. :)
Oh, cool! Not that I wanted to push anyone but I'm really glad you found it useful ☺️🌷

Oh sweet irony, but could you tell me the brand of your glasses? They seem quite narrow and I am desperate to find a new pair
No problem. Yes, they are. But they are also kind of old. From 2014 or 2015 I think. The brand is Oliver Peoples. 💛
