So if I am adding a +1 at say 3" long I would just add 3" of spring length over my stock spring? Or is there a formula to use? Or is it just trial and error?
That magazine extension you sell will turn my 590A1 into an 8 shot, right? I recently bought a magazine extension from Mossberg for my 590A1. It fits, but it extends past the muzzle. It looks goofy 😂
Wish it came with a wave washer for 870 express. Not sure what I'm going to do to keep it from loosening off. Not worth importing from brownells. Might try an O ring
If that's an S&J follower being used, keep in mind that a 12 gauge spring does not fit inside it. You have to stuff it in with a small screwdriver. It deforms the spring and seems like it could cause reliability problems. The follower just floats freely in the mag tube if you install it the way it's done in this video. He just tossed it down the tube and the spring just sits on top of it (not in it). I tossed it in the trash. A very poor design. It's also expensive.
The springs that are included with the kits have tapered ends. They do fit inside the follower perfectly. Some gun manufacturer mag tube springs do not have tapered ends. That may not fit correctly.
My shotgun is a new Mossberg 500, the magazine tube spring is stock. I was sold a follower that is only compatible with the S&J spring. They sold me the follower alone and nowhere does it indicated that it is not compatible with the stock Mossberg spring. They leave that fact out on their website and videos. @@04BlueSmoke
Rollcrimp never bothered me until I tried them in a newer 870 that has a pos trigger geoup. But not only is the trigger group wonky on 870s newer then 2005, the roll crimp shells edge jams on the back edge of the barrel extension and they fail to chamber properly or if they do chamber its a short retry and the go in but shave a bit of hull plastic off on the barrel extension roof! These newer 870s really have trouble feeding any shell into the chamber unless thr gun is pointed more or less horizontal, best with no up angle shell shucking, which might be a problem for bird hunters going after high angle birds. And no its not the rough chamber I’ve corrected that, its the top edge of the barrel extension where it meets the inside roof of the receiver, that edge catches every loaded shell as evidenced by all the different color plastic shavings off different mfgs shells, but the Rio roll crimp are the worst with that thin roll crimp edge, they won’t even chamber at all or maybe after lowering muzzle and trying again! I love s&j, just not a fan of the 870 unless its 90s or older gun and that goes for wingmasters as well as express!
I have a 590A1 that fit 5 shells. I just got the +2 kit. The new spring is just over 22”How many inches should I cut off? Or how do I tell how much resistance this should have? Any help would be appreciated
This proves SJ hardware is lacking in R+D if they can't provide this info in the site description. It's actually quite retarded how this hasn't been tested and recorded. I'm sitting here with a 46 inch spring, GUESSING what i need to cut at.
hi i have a remington 870 express with barrel length 18 ... i'm looking for a magazine extension +2 (to take it from 4 + 1 to 6 + 1). I would like one similar in appearance to the remington (which unfortunately is out of production ... the barrel below must be as long as the upper one) ... which one do you recommend?
Hello, thanks for your note. I recommend the S&J Hardware +2. You can find them at sjhardware.us They are in stock now. Will ship on Monday if you order this weekend. Thank you, Scott

@@04BlueSmoke This is the review I found: Overall, the extension is only a hair less than 6.75 inches in total length, so when installed on standard 870 with 4 round base magazine tubes, its front end will line up. with the muzzle of an 18.5-inch barrel or will extend half an inch beyond the muzzle of an 18-inch barrel. www.rem870.com/2017/08/08/sj-hardware-mk-ii-2-extension-kit-review/ Unfortunately, as can be seen from the photo, it goes further ... @scott mueller Hello Scott. i convinced my self to buy the S&J +2...i tryed to buy it from the link u sent me in the comments. I add it to the cart, but when i have to choose the country to send it to, i can't choose Italy...why? I live in Rome! Thanks for your disponibility.
Must be using the stock follower not a S&J. Your not using the Special magazine spring that S&J supplies with the kit. They are tapered to fit into the poorly designed S&J followers' What a bunch of BS. It's called "bait & switch"
So you are saying that the entire spring is tapered? I bought the follower as a stand alone piece. I could not find anything on your web site or videos indicating that I needed to buy a spring also. All your site said was that it fit a Mossberg 500 shotgun. That's why I bought it and it doesn't work.@@04BlueSmoke
This video only helps those who have a Mossberg 870. According to the instructions from Nordic, insert the new springs in the tube and cut it even with the barrel. That would be a good starting point. This video is a waste of time to watch.
I’ve bought your rem. Type 3 follower and love it. Watching to see how to fit your extra long spring as well. Take care!
How many mini shells fit on a 590s 18.5 barrel
U Need To ADD:
1) Streamlight TL-Racker, 1000
Lumen Forgrip Light...
2) 6rd Sidesaddle, Velcro Shot Card
3) Flash 5 Stock, For 5 Extra Round's...
Great information.
You have parts for emperor pump ? Mine jams shells nose down unless racked fast and hard. Any ideas what the problem is ?

This extension rocks! I got 11+1 mini shells in my 590 18.5 now
Thank you so much for this video....from a shotgun newbie
Does anyone know if a +1 magazine extension exist for a Stevens 320 in 20 gauge.
is there any that fit Ithaca 12g XL 900?
Does it hold well when firing?
I have a New Haven 600AT by mossberg will those tube extensions fit my shotgun?
Good Day,
The extensions will not work on the New Haven. They have a closed magazine tube just like the Mossberg 500.
Does a maverick 88 require a spring?
That magazine extension you sell will turn my 590A1 into an 8 shot, right? I recently bought a magazine extension from Mossberg for my 590A1. It fits, but it extends past the muzzle. It looks goofy 😂
I wanted it to be flush with the muzzle or be really close to it. I guess I could use it for poking snakes or something 😂
Wish it came with a wave washer for 870 express. Not sure what I'm going to do to keep it from loosening off. Not worth importing from brownells. Might try an O ring
Is there a extension for a escort slugger in 12ga?
Compliant with a Maverick 88?
Hi Garrett, sorry the Maverick's have a closed magazine tube at the front.

How is your spring only 22 inches if they said in video they ship with 45+ inch springs? Did something change recently?
No Remington also has a 870 model (called tactical) that have a fixed mag tube with 6 shots and 18.5 inch barrel. So exactly like this Mossberg.

How long should I cut the spring for 590a1 20 inch barrel 8+1 capacity?
Usually 23" is a good length.
Has anybody used this for the 590s that come stock with 8 round magazine’s?
