Baby orca breaching! Multiple bellyflops and lots of splashing!

- July 18, 2017. Transient orca calf breaches and bellyflops 3 times as it travels with it's mother family outside of Vancouver BC. As seen on board a Prince of Whales Whale Watching vessel.

@@readytogo6569 Orcas are one of the smartest animals on Earth, they form close family bonds, play, teach their children much like human parents do, and certainly seem to be more aware of onlookers that you appear to believe. While the little guy might not be showing off with the intent of getting the *humans* to see, he's absolutely doing it for the attention and approval of his family pod, just like a toddler learning a new trick.
His play will develop into techniques for hunting as he ages, but for now they are nothing more than that: play.

Absolutely stunning and makes me so wish I could get to the Oceans again, being a water baby! Btw, I’m French so understood the whole thing! I swam with the orcas off the st-Laurence/Atlantic Ocean over 40 years ago, and orcas and spermicide whales are not man killers (orcas mostly only in captivity and in the wild, they usually only attack when in danger).

I saw keiko when he was rescued from the Mexico aquarium and brought to Newport Oregon. As a kid I had a doctors appointment near there and my dad brought me there. I was so excited.

Some places are ok to visit, I think, you just have to research the place first. There are lots of zoos and aquariums that do a good job of focusing on conservation and protection of endangered species,

Was this possibly Scarlett? She was a joyful, energetic orca who LOVED to breech! It just hit me in the gut when I learned that she died. ☹️
But I thought that Scarlet was a Southern Resident, not a transient. RIP, Scarlett! 💔💔💔 I will never forget you.
Yup this is why we need to fight to get there food chain back on track.
No Scarlet was born in 2014. Yes she was a Southern Resident.
@@DarkTripods07 First of all we would need to prevent people from fishing herring which is what the Chinook salmon eat because they are what the whales eat but if they don't have enough food they don't repopulate. The 2nd thing we need to get rid of immediately is fish farms.
@@Nekoinuhanyou alot of fish farms are helping repopulate fish life in the area
@@justmesage5731 you have fish farms mixed up with hatcheries. They closed down the hatcheries which was good for repopulating the salmon population and introduced fish farms of Atlantic salmon which has decimated the Pacific Salmon population due to disease and increase in sea lice on the fish
