Adrian Brody did a great job. This is the movie that proved that he could be an action star and not just an emotional underdog in Oscar bait movies and RomComs.
@@orangewarm1Oh The Pianist, by Roman Polanski. Which the academy gave a standing ovation to even though they all knew he couldn't be in the country, never mind the room, because he fled from the US after the statutory rape of a 13 yr old.
In the comics, Predators like the main three are called "Bad Bloods", because they don't follow a code of honor. The three "Super" Predators are named Tracker, Falconer and Mr. Black
I've always known them as Colmillos (Tusks), Aguila (Eagle) and Cacique (Chieftain or Chief for short). That's what Mom and dad always called them when we watched the movies together, so those names kinda stuck!
It could be argued that Falconer followed a code of honor when fighting Hanzo. Several times Hanzo fell to the ground, and Falconer could have easily stepped forward and finished Hanzo off, instead allowing him the chance to stand to his feet before continuing the fight. -- That being said, I don't know if Berserker would have done the same. He probably would have used the wristblade, but he would have finished Hanzo off as soon as he fell.
This is a highly underrated movie. Probably the second-best Predator movie(And I love Predator 2, FWIW). It has a great cast, a great premise, and a great soundtrack! This movie deserves more respect! Also I love how the Yakuza guy's fight with the Predator mirrors the scene where Billy stops to fight it in Predator 1! But unlike that movie, we actually get to see the fight! Also I LOVE Topher Grace as the sociopathic, murdering doctor!! What a great plot twist!!!
Of the main 4, this is probably tied with P2 in last place. But to be honest I think the whole series is actually pretty great. They all have their own take on the setting and it all makes sense. It's not like Alien, thee first 2 are excellent and the next 2 are just awful. All of these are good in their own way.

Little trivia about the director, who is a 50-year-old guy of hungarian origin. He directed great music videos for hungarian alternative pop and hip-hop artists in the late nineties before making his first feature film 20 years ago, which is still quite well known and quoted among today's 30-40 year olds.
Costumer is not always right. Many good movies had been victims of poor marketing and toxic Fandom. Good you chose to see this one, is in my humble opinion one of the best of the franchise. Subscribed.
Counting only the main movies, they're actually all pretty great. Even being in last place isn't bad (Personally that's where I'd put this, even though I really like this flick). But if you include AVP it's definitely better than both of those.

@@richardw64 No she isn't. This woman, Alice Braga, is Isabelle. In Predator, the Spanish woman who survived was named Ana. It's a nice touch to have Isabelle in the movie. Her presence creates a link to the original Predator.
At the time it was released, everyone I knew who were fans of Predator found this one to be a great addition to the series. I didn't hear many negative things about it until years later. Predator, Prey, and Predators are top 3 for me.
I loved this film. The producers wanted to return to the jungle, where the first one took place (after 2 and the AvP films) brought it back to basics, no cities, just man vs monster...and when you asked at the beginning of the film "is this Hunger Games?",. that was a very on-the-nose guess. I loved this, because it's all action from beginning to end, loved the crazy mix of killers, very well cast, too...good stuff.
AVP is underrated - once people get that these movies are just like the MCU in that they are stories from comics it makes more sense in the big picture of things
I've always really enjoyed this entry, and honestly, consider it the "part 3" of the franchise. I like how open-ended the ending is (though Dark Horse comics did publish a sequel to this movie showing how Royce and Isabelle eventually got off that planet, so there is material that is a continuation of this movie's story).
Lore wise regarding the Predators (yautja), my big notice in the movie was that the big guys were not at all following the normal code that we saw in the previous movies. They put the humans in an unfamiliar environment, and didn't give them a chance at being able to escape, and in general didn't have the same hunting spirit. So my understanding was seeing the normal predator ties up is that the 3 are not the norm.
I also would have liked to see them get off the planet at the end. Other than that, I thought this was one of the better Predator movies. I had a feeling that the doctor wasn't telling the truth about himself when I first saw this but I wasn't sure until the twist which was great. Always like the scene when they realize they are not on Earth. Glad you liked this one Bunnytails. Great reaction!
Glad that you went ahead and watched Predators. I'm with you when you say that it's in an equal place with the original movie. Not to say that I don't enjoy Predator 2 but I have more preference for combat in an actual jungle rather than the concrete jungle but I applaud P2's PTB for doing something different to Predator. Also I would most definitely add my voice to those recommending the skipping of The Predator. Such a mess of a movie and an attack on the senses. Prey is most definitely the next true chapter in this franchise. Also, about Predators, I just love the scene when they walk out of the undergrowth and realise where they are. The looks on their faces, especially that of the convict who screws his eyes up and then opens them again to try and register what he is seeing, is pitch perfect in my humble opinion.
This choice of characters showed that if they wished to continue with more movies, they didn't need to have Arnold. I only got to see this movie recently and was surprised how good it was. Glad you liked it , Bunny.

I think this practice goes a long way in the back of the years, but for moderns times is for leaking details.
I love how the folks that made these movies put easter eggs everywhere and the actors are good too and the universe this occupies and how hr giger's work ended up a part of the yautja story and how much different and even larger the elders and bigger warriors its no wonder that a few could take out so many xenomorph

Loved that you were so into the Yakuza v Yautja scene. For me, the most impressive scene of the movie. Smart cookie. You work out most stuff (but not always .... LOL). Such a good reaction to a sometimes maligned film. Are you planning on doing AVP at any time? I hope so 😊
Bunny, you can watch "Prey" pretty much at any point in your exploration of the Predator franchise without messing up the sequence of the movies. When you finally see it, you will understand why I assert that. In regard to "Alien vs Predator (AVP)", you've already watched the first two movies in the Predator and Alien franchises, so you'll understand what is going on in AVP. I'm really excited to see how you react to all of these films. 👍😊
38:50 well ofcourse, a lot of people told you to watch only first 2 Terminator movies as well, why who knows same with Predator all of the movies are enjoyable
Glad you liked it. This is my favorite Predator movie. It turns the concept on its head while still maintaining the hunted vibe, the intrigue and the action.
In a behind the scenes feature, it revealed that Topher Grace did his own stunt of falling into the water. While getting out, he quipped, "Oh yeah, this is just like That 70s Show."
Good movie with lots of twists. Great actors. Don't feel bad nobody thinks a doctor could be bad. I didn't believe my Uncle when he said one tried to lift his wallet. Until a few months later when I saw in the newspaper that he did it again and the cops came and found the guys wallet behind books on his bookshelf
This is my second favorite Predator movie of the series behind the first one. Robert Rodriguez directed this and I’m a sucker for anything he directs, he does such great looking films. The story is good too.
This movie had an all star cast , a different take on the predators world and how their food chain works , cool action scenes including a predator vs a Yakuza with a katana, and yet for some reason people say that " prey" is better, a movie about a native American girl boss who takes on a mentally challenged predator, and don't try to convince me that there wasn't something wrong with that predator, he had the special helmet and everything
lmfao , thanks for giving me a good laugh. totally agree btw. the Predators is actually doing good world building and opening up the lore for the fans. Yet people received it very very negatively. you cant make this ish up.
“The Predator” as well as the Aliens Vs Predator (AvP is better than AvP Requiem ) series are also worth a watch. While they aren’t the best movies they are still fun. Prey however is honestly the best modern Predator movie.
This movie was my introduction to Cooper Howard from Fallout, and he had the most memorable death of getting his spine and head ripped off by the Predator. Also the producer and I think cowriter of this movie is Robert Rodriguez and I'm surprised he let his favourite actor Danny Trejo just die like that offscreen by the Predators. Goes from Machete Kills to Machete dies offscreen with a whimper. It was a surprising death none the less.
This was the first R rated film I saw with my dad in the theaters. I was 11 years old and I remember going back to school and just telling all my friends about it 😅now watching it fully grown, and I admit I still love it. Gald you enjoyed it too!
I watched this with my parents on DVD on my 20th Birthday and we loved it, especially the scene where one of their mercenaries, Isabelle, tells Royce and the others the story on how Dutch survived his encounter with the Predator in 1987, also known as "The Guatemala Incident."
As a 6'4" cis-pan-ace-demi, native blooded male USMC veteran and lifelong fan of Predator and Aliens films, Adrian Brody was for that 2 hours both the HOTTEST man alive and an outstanding warfighter. I was very happy with this film; Prey even more so.
35:56 He didn't use mud... he set so many fires around him that the Predator couldn't see through all the bright Infrared light. He became visible when he stood in front of a tree.
You're part right, part wrong. Royce became visible because of the Predator's advanced tech detecting Royce's insanely beating heartbeat. The fires helped to cover his tracks with excessive heat so the Predator's IR vision wouldn't work well. THE MUD smeared on his body also gave Royce cover lowering his body temperature. Look closely, you'll see it. Royce knew the odds were against him beating a Predator. He needed all the help he could get, & he still needed Isabelle's help to kill the beast. Mud covers liabilities & saves your ass.
Highly underrated. On top of it being a great movie, the ending song is Long Tall Sally. Totally unexpected, but very much enjoyed, especially on the first watch.
Also my favorite Predator movie. Very intense, the twist with the doctor, some good characters despite almost everyone being some variety of evil. And good variety to the enemy Predators, to mix it up. We even get Predator vs Predator! Also, since I'm a huge Pathfinder RPG nerd I can't help but think of this as the Hunted on Abadon.
Fun fact: Theirs two factions of Yautja (predators), the first faction are the Hunters, they follow the warrior/hunter honor code which they're forbidden to hurt/kill any unarmed civilians/innocence or wounded/sick soldiers/people. They're are interested in the thrill of the hunt, the more dangerous prey, the bigger the trophies, the bigger respects/honor the hunter receives from other fellow hunters The second faction are called the Killers (not bad blood, bad blood are rogue/awol hunters but are still hunters), they do not follow the warrior/hunter honor code, they're like a militarily soldiers who conquer worlds and kill anyone and anything in their path, they do not hunt for sport, they'll kill everything including civilians and children.
28:10 "This guy is dead weight." You really pegged it with the term, Bunny. Just seconds later we hear the term repeated in the actual movie. Right on, lady, right on. "He hasn't even been that funny." lol 🤣🤣😂😂 Too much haha
Great reaction! I'm in agreement that you should skip The Predator. There's very little lore added to the overall story. Alien versus Predator will dovetail nicely before you get to Prey. As for the continuation of Royce and Isabel there is a comic book which gets a lot more convoluted but there is no official movie sequel as of yet.
The beauty about human beings is the difference in our opinions. I don't care who doesn't like it. I love this movie. I take it at entertainment value, not actors, not directors but the writing of a story is more important no matter how out there it is.
This movie leads into "The Predator", which a lot of people throw shade at, but it does give you more about the lore and why they hunt like they do. I would suggest that before "Prey", just for context. What I loved most about this film was the sword battle between the Yakuza guy and the Predator, as well as all the references to the first film and other movies. Also, if you've watched the "Alien" films, watch "Alien VS. Predator", too. It brings the 2 storylines together, and is a fun one to watch. I know that others will disagree, but these films add quite a bit to the stories. I enjoyed your reaction to this one. Great job!❤
Better than Predators (the unrelated sequel that followed). A different kind of film than Prey (the most recent awesome sequel) so not really comparable. It's very first film like, I loved it.
I'm pleasantly surprised you chose to watch this movie. I was one of the earlier recommenders of Predators. My reaction mirrored yours almost exactly. I found it to be, if not a great movie, but a pretty good one. One thing I never pictured was Adrien Brody as an "action star" for this role, and yet it worked. Interesting casting.
The Yakuza was the coolest and bravest of all. He took off his shoes to become one with the elements, kept quiet and listened, assessed everything. Fought with skill, killed and died like a true warrior. Proved that one on one samurai and yautja are equal.
I actually really liked this one, a bunch of bad as humans getting hunted like deer. You have this genuine and cool, laid back, classy way about you that I like, and the voice to match. I truly enjoy watching your reactions, regardless of the movie, and I love the way you always tell it like it is and don't hold back, that's refreshing. That squeak/scream at the 13:30 mark was the cutest scream I ever heard, I died laughing, BRAVO!!!!
Predators entertained me more than Prey did. It was a more interesting premise to have trained killers kidnapped and taken to a different planet to be hunted.
This movie was absolutely a wild ride and a complete underdog of the Predator films ❤🎉 it took a concept and expanded it PERFECTLY, even giving us some solid characters that are on par with the first, which is why i feel this is the closest(next to Prey) to the 1st as far as nostalgia and something we know, but shown in a new way/light 🙌 The Topher Grace reveal was Crazy!! Lol i honestly didnt put it together until i noticed some small little things he was doing and saying, which i ultimately knew when he used the Russians kids photo as his own 😂 then i knew he really was a wolf in sheeps clothing. P.S. There IS a follow up COMIC to ths movie, so if thats something you wanna check out, its out there to see ❤
Also I personally don't think Topher Grace's character ever had children. That's most likely the kids of one of his victims as I picture Topher is likely a serial killer like Jigsaw who kills methodically rather than head on. And that's why he didn't have any weapons on him.
BTW, BUNNY… SUGGESTION: “THE PIANIST” Adrian Brody won an Academy Award for this movie - I think it was his “break out role”. It’s a true story about a Jewish musician trying to survive WWII. (OMG… His acting is AMAZING.😳)
Great Reaction to my equal 2nd fav predator movie (tided with prey) Predator is my fav. When I first saw this, I thought the doctor was there to heal them, but as he no combat experience, they would also need to protect him
Agreed! I loved how it was revealed that the next step in human/Predator evolution was to develop aspergers syndrome, and that the Predators loved coming to Earth so much is because of global warming, and I peed-myself with laughter when the government lady shot herself in the foot! Truly one of the Movies of All Time!
Some fans are just snobs. If a sequel isn't *exactly* what they want, then they hate it with a passion. I'm glad you decided to watch this movie and form your own opinion about it. I hope you decide to watch "Alien vs. Predator", too, 'cause I want to hear your opinion about that one.
This is my first time seeing this as well, and now I want to go and watch the full movie! I had heard this was good, and WOW I really liked the clips and pieces that you were able to show. Topher Grace (the medic) was a little annoying, but the rest of the cast did a great job, and the special effects were pretty incredible as well.

13:28 "It's not alive is it?" Followed immediately by the only jump scare I saw you jump to. Also, you looked amazing for this reaction.
Thanks!
Loved that you were so into the Yakuza v Yautja scene. For me, the most impressive scene of the movie. Smart cookie. You work out most stuff (but not always .... LOL). Such a good reaction to a sometimes maligned film. Are you planning on doing AVP at any time? I hope so 😊
Prey is next in this series, then AVP after that! 😁
well technically the Predator 1 was the only one which should be watched first after it you can go in anyorder
Yet people received it very very negatively.
you cant make this ish up.
prey is so bad..woke af
“The Predator” as well as the Aliens Vs Predator (AvP is better than AvP Requiem ) series are also worth a watch.
While they aren’t the best movies they are still fun.
Prey however is honestly the best modern Predator movie.
nah men, the predator sucks in every aspect, compared, the avp movies are masterpieces.
Fun flick, I despise Topher Grace so I suspected him all along. Great reaction Bunny!
This movie is very underrated! One of my fav. in this series. Very happy you decided to check it out. You'll love Prey!
It was a surprising death none the less.
one of the best openings ever
This was the first R rated film I saw with my dad in the theaters. I was 11 years old and I remember going back to school and just telling all my friends about it 😅now watching it fully grown, and I admit I still love it. Gald you enjoyed it too!
(At 10:00) Hell Hounds
I watched this with my parents on DVD on my 20th Birthday and we loved it, especially the scene where one of their mercenaries, Isabelle, tells Royce and the others the story on how Dutch survived his encounter with the Predator in 1987, also known as "The Guatemala Incident."
im glad you picked this movie also, its highly underrated!
'Im the one that got away, the one you don't fuck with.' Such a great quote
I can’t believe Walton Goggins was in this movie. He plays the inmate. I just finished watching the Fallout TV series, he’s awesome in that show.
The creature in the Woods was the first predator prototype, with Jean Claude van Damme, but it failed in the first movie. That's a cameo.
The doctor in Predators is Topher Grace from the 70s Show
35:56 He didn't use mud... he set so many fires around him that the Predator couldn't see through all the bright Infrared light.
17:40 "That's a person"
It's Samuel L Jackson.
You trying to be funny.
no it's laurence fishburne aka mropheus
@@TheHawkman2132
It is clearly Samuel L Jackson.
Fun fact: Theirs two factions of Yautja (predators), the first faction are the Hunters, they follow the warrior/hunter honor code which they're forbidden to hurt/kill any unarmed civilians/innocence or wounded/sick soldiers/people. They're are interested in the thrill of the hunt, the more dangerous prey, the bigger the trophies, the bigger respects/honor the hunter receives from other fellow hunters
The second faction are called the Killers (not bad blood, bad blood are rogue/awol hunters but are still hunters), they do not follow the warrior/hunter honor code, they're like a militarily soldiers who conquer worlds and kill anyone and anything in their path, they do not hunt for sport, they'll kill everything including civilians and children.
Thanks very much!!!
The beauty about human beings is the difference in our opinions. I don't care who doesn't like it. I love this movie. I take it at entertainment value, not actors, not directors but the writing of a story is more important no matter how out there it is.
I loved this movie too. 👍 don't make us wait too long for Prey.
I'll need to check the movie out sometimes, this seemed like an interest movie, and I do think the Predators are fascinating. Great review!
There is a follow-up comic to this movie and Predator: Hunting Grounds, the video game, directly references it.
Lawrence Fishburn...was in APOCALYPSE NOW!! AT 14. "THE MATRIX". "BOYZ IN THE HOOD"
Guy in prison orange is Walton Goggins....👍🏼👍🏼Hes very good in "JUSTIFIED" "SIX" "SONS OF ANARCHY"
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I actually really liked this one, a bunch of bad as humans getting hunted like deer. You have this genuine and cool, laid back, classy way about you that I like, and the voice to match. I truly enjoy watching your reactions, regardless of the movie, and I love the way you always tell it like it is and don't hold back, that's refreshing. That squeak/scream at the 13:30 mark was the cutest scream I ever heard, I died laughing, BRAVO!!!!
ALL the predator movies are a great watch. Dont let the AVP haters get ya down.
The first guy shooting is Oleg Taktarov, an MMA guy from the 90s UFC days... A tough sumbitch i loved watching. 🔥🔥🔥👊🏽💥🥋
The story arc was addressed in the comic books.
25:42 These predator sobs just gotta get their vertebrae kicks...
Outside of the first movie this and the new Prey movie are the best of the bunch IMO. Never understood the hate this movie gets from some people.
BTW, BUNNY…
SUGGESTION:
“THE PIANIST”
Adrian Brody won an Academy Award for this movie - I think it was his “break out role”. It’s a true story about a Jewish musician trying to survive WWII. (OMG… His acting is AMAZING.😳)
9:25 PHRASING - Archer
Great Reaction to my equal 2nd fav predator movie (tided with prey) Predator is my fav. When I first saw this, I thought the doctor was there to heal them, but as he no combat experience, they would also need to protect him
31.34 that ship was in autopilot mode.
As a huge huge fan of predator, i enjoyed this too 😊
This one, the original, and prey make a great trilogy head and shoulders above the rest
The Predator (2018) is pretty good. Shane Black co-wrote and directed it and his stuff is worth watching.
That's a joke, right? The Predator is one of the worst films in years.
this is a big, big, BIG joke, right?
In my opinion, Predators is the second best of the Predator movies.
Awesome reaction of my favorite Predator movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊
And there is a comic that tells if they make it back or not after the movie..
