  • Hi Everyone! 🤗🌹 I must be in the mood for Spring to get here….as I have been thinking about floral designs lately. 💐 This particular element is one I see frequently and is usually found behind a flower as an accent pattern. They look like tiny feather Plumes to me! 😅
    It is good to know how to make a variety of different shapes and patterns…then you can pick and choose your favorites to enhance your own unique style! These Plumes have always intrigued me and they are relatively easy to make. Focusing on just the Plumes also gave me room in the background to showcase a ‘new to me’ color by CIM - Poolside Dichro!
    I hope you all enjoy!!🌹🙏🏽
    Cheers- Robin 🌈

    For those having trouble I soak my beads in a jar of water for a few hours before removing them from the mandrels. Using pliers as well.

      Hello Buttercup!😅👋🏽 I have also soaked my beads in water before taking them off the mandrel. Then I discovered the Foster Fire Smooth & Tuff formula! It is my favorite!! 😍 Thanks so much for sharing your tips!! ✨🌹 Cheers - Robin 🙏🏽🌹

      Hi Jirup! 🥰👋🏽 I’m so glad you like this tri color stringer. It is so much more interesting than just a single color! 😅 in the final pictures I had made a few of these with a yellow that turned brown. At first I was disappointed so I made the last one with just violets. But looking back now, they look better than I thought…especially seeing them all together!😂✨ Many thanks my friend!!
      Cheers- Robin 🌈💐👋🏽

      @scottwoodresearch  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Maria 🤗🌹 I was also horrible at raking the glass. I found that using a stringer to drag the glass is much easier than using a pick…at least in this situation! 😅 And giving the heat a second or two to soak in before pulling really helps. ✨ So glad you enjoyed this one!!! Thank you!!🌹
      Cheers- Robin ✨🌈🌹

    Really lovely. Robin. I can see doing second dots (contrasting transparent ) smaller inside so when you drag stringer you get more depth. Will try today. Thanks.

    Once again Robin, you make it look so easy! I would just love to make something this beautiful. I often have issues hanging on to the end of stringers. I switched from tweezers to pliers and there's a bit of improvement. I think @kellyh957 has a good idea for a 101.something video about using the marver for rolling and shaping. I have the same issues as she as well as tidying up the edges without scraping away the bead release from the bead edge. Once again, thanks so much for your continued support with your great videos. You are so welcoming it feels like I am sitting in your studio getting tips from an old friend. And I don't mean old as in age but I'm sure you knew that! 😂

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Derweasel! 🥰🌹 I’m so glad you enjoyed this one! I will definitely make some time to get a demo together that covers questions about marvering the glass. ✨ I have learned over the years not to roll the edges…I do tiny pushes against the graphite instead. It really helps not to cut into the bead release! 🌹✨ I wish you were physically here with me😅…..ahhh the magic of TH-cam!
      Take care my friend!! 😍✨🌹Cheers- Robin 👋🏽🌈

      Hi Robin -- I encased a bead! 😀Doing it wasn't pretty but I like how it turned out. I can see where my technique would have to be much better if I didn't want to ruin the design on the face of the bead; however, I just put some sloppy dots on it and then raked it to death. I used a HH for this adventure. Just had HVAC come and tap into my natural gas, and my torch and hoses are here -- just waiting for one more connector (setting up with natural gas presented me with some complications and challenges) and I'm off with my new Bethlehem Alpha. I wonder if this will all be easier or more proficient when I make the switch. I have used a CC mini 3 times but I don't remember what it was like as it was all brand new to me. 🤔Well, as you can probably tell, my excitement is bubbling over. I need to do a TH-cam Scottwood Research video marathon! The next happy cheer you hear will be my celebratory yell of triumph and joy as I start to enjoy figuring out my new Alpha!🎉🥳 Cheers to you as well -- Diana

      @derweasel OMG!!🤗🌹 That is great news, Diana!✨ Congratulations on the encasement! Im so happy you for you! Like most everything else…it will get easier every time! 🤩 I just read up about the Alpha torch….it sounds amazing and a great price! The difference between that and a HH is huge! You are going to love it!!! 😍✨Thank you so much for sharing your exciting news! I wish I was there to jump for joy with you when you light it up!😆🌹 I can’t wait to hear how you like it!!
      Big Hugs my friend! Cheers- Robin ✨🌈🌹🌹🌹

    Really nice. I use a bench vice to hold the mandrel, makes it a lot easier to remove the bead.
    Looking forward to your next video (maybe something with Zirconia??)😊

      Hello Kevin! 👋🏽✨ Thanks so much! 🌹 I also use a vice when needed…especially taking rings off the big mandrels… Very helpful!! Glad you enjoyed this demo! At some point in the future I will definitely invest in a small bag of CZ’s so I can share how to embed them! Great idea!✨✨

    Robin, Thanks for another great tutorial! I can't wait to try it. You know, I always pay special attention to the way you shape your beads on the marver. I also put my bead release in the middle of my mandrel and I try to mimic the way you hold your mandrel and kind of glide/roll it across the marver. It looks so smooth the way you do it and you quickly get a beautiful shape. When I try to do it the same way, it just doesn't work. It ends up with me just kind of dragging it across the marver instead of the nice, smooth glide/roll you do. Tutorial? :)

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Kelly! 😃🌹So glad you enjoyed!! 🥰 Learning how to roll the glass on the marver took me some time, practice and patience to figure out. Working in the middle is great because I feel like I have more control using being hands to roll with. But it is also easier to mess things up if you have a heavy hand. 😅 I used to tell my students that you want to begin and end a roll like the wheels of a plane landing…. You want to be turning the glass as you come in for a smooth landing. Then it’s some fine tuning on how much pressure to apply (if any) when rolling. And that depends on how hot the glass is! ✨🌹 There are so many little nuances to it when you think about it! 😂
      In the long run, it all comes down to practice and you will absolutely get better!! 😃
      I’m really glad you brought this up….I will definitely try to put out a demo that focuses more on marvering! ✨ Thanks so much!! Cheers my friend- Robin🌈✨✨✨

    Thank you for another great tutorial! I am interested in how you present your finished beads at the end of the videos. Is that something that you made for this purpose? If so, I would love to see how you made it. I have learned so much from your great teaching style and I appreciate you!

      Hi Julie! 🤗🌹 I’m so glad you have been enjoying the demos! 💫 The bead stand that I use is made out of borosilicate….and I do have a demo on it! Look under our playlist for ‘Adventures in Borosilicate’. The very first one is called The Coral Stand. I originally made it to hold fish beads but it is perfect for any beads! 😃🌹 I have been thinking about making a new one specifically for the end shots. I will make sure to share it! 😅 Thank you so much for asking! I am thrilled that you have gotten some good information from these demos!🌹 Cheers to you- Robin 🙏🏽😃🌹
