This is not done manually, you just get all the games in a rom package, scrape the descriptions and video clips (this is done eg through RetroPie) and then use a script to put them all together in a video.
Especially getting around to stuff we assume we wouldn't ever play, but we like the console so much we just want to explore everything, even risking running into mediocre/bad stuff, just to experience it all, and hopefully even find hidden gems/underrated titles along the way, too. I'm lucky/privileged enough to have a decent memory for...most games I played, at least console/handheld ones, arcades and browser games stump me pretty harshly, plus I try to keep track of all the games I've played for reference, but I know for many these lists can help reignite lost memories, too.
@@ChrisPoindexter98 It's been so much help I can't even tell you. Since posting this comment a while ago, I've dumped my PS Classic and now I'm playing all my retro games including PS1 on my Xbox Series X. It has really changed the way I game, truly. The games look absolutely incredible now. It's like discovering the console for the first time all over again.
@@the_scraggler Interesting! Modding/piracy/emulation isn't my bag anymore, but I especially appreciate that stuff for innovating, improving consoles, basically telling the developers what to do better, 🥴 and most of all preserve the games, in case official sources don't and won't.
The biggest takeaway for me from this is remembering just how varied every game's art style used to be. Nowadays, most PS4 and Ps5 games are targeting a certain photorealistic aesthetic.
Well back then you only had so many routes to take. Either go full arcade/cartoon low-poly mode or take a stab at making realistic games on PSX's limited memory. Now consoles are so much more powerful so game devs of course want to just go for max fidelity and graphics over unique gameplay. It's easier to just sell a game that looks amazing even if the gameplay sucks because the graphics themselves sell most of the game. Back during the PSX days, you had to actually have a fun game cause they all looked the same pretty much
@@RealDovamo What I like though about this era´s limitations is that games had an aesthetic of its own....I mean games looked like games, not like a ¨playable reality¨. Even games that tried to look real looked very different from one another. Realism is kind of making everything too dull visually, as a visual window into a fantasy. I guess the strategy for the business is to market the hell out of processing power, instead of being really artistically original with it, which I guess is a much risky strategy for them. Im talking about mainstream anyway, cause theres a ton of variety on an indie level, as far as I could dig up.
@@RealDovamo that's correct. It lends to the belief that when Breath of Fire V was released on PS2, the character and level design were completely different and so it ended up looking very dissimilar to the previous two games on PS1.
Pure nostalgia, this is man. No one can ever compare the feelings you get from hearing that PS1 Intro, and remembering your childhood, and the good times. Still glad I still have and play on my PS1, and PS2 till this day. Nothing will ever be like this, how I wish I could go back to the good old days.

I turned 18 in September of 2001. This is just crazy to see graphics now vs then and that was top of the line then! I'm now a collector of retro games and this list sure helps. Someone sure put a lot of time putting this video together just to show ppl how games were and to help ppl remember the games they once loved maybe as a kid or teen.

I feel that for many video game consoles...I imagine there are a quite a few that aren't particularly significant or selling all that great, having much of a game library over the decades, but many major ones, especially if they're old enough to be considered historical, then yes, and also, too, to any and every country that can and has had some art/culture preservation/library facilities/subdivisions.
REALLY EXCELLENT WORK. 👍 I'm an old person (60+) and have been playing games for about 40 years. I still have a functional PSX and PS2 at home - and i enjoy playing the old games. Although in recent years i mainly play on PS4. I wish you a relaxing year 2023 and above all good health.
All hopes on ps5 being 100% backwards compatible...Maybe sony are looking at Switch and the huge library it's getting? and though we have 100's of old games toi
@Outsider I know, just making use of what I have; Driver and Gran Turismo work really well and the Gamecube controller is alright for mapping most controls! Am tempted to buy a backwards compatible PS3 second hand at some point though to open the door to a massive game library; what are the chances of YLOD though?
These games have a magic that current ones don't. I think because many set a genre, or creators worked harder at other aspects since graphics were not perfect, I'm not sure. Either way, PS contains a great library worth preserving and playing any time.
Theres definitively more variety and creativity overall. Nostalgia googles or not... I legit feel that. Maybe because games as a whole were younger, and people felt the need to be more creative and tried harder to make an interesting game. As for current games: There are some gems here and there, but the same magic of old games really isnt quite there. Theres a LOT of really boring crap nowadays that gets praise by todays gamers tho (The Last Of Us and any of these "Cinematic" games bore the hell out of me)
AA Barbone agree to disagree, ps2 has twice better game than ps1 era. Only starting ps3 it started worst. In ps3 era where DLC cashgrab were introduce, cinematic experience rather than gameplay. Games started to need update patch to fixed after release and the worst of all trailer creating hype but failed on release.
This is an excellent and useful list, I absolutely love the fact that all Playstation 3s plays PS1 games on HDMI and Wireless Controllers up to 7 players. Great move by Sony to make their PS3 compatible with these awesome PS1 games.

hmmm what to say...as far as i could find. no one actually knew how many PS1 games existed. this is a nice look into the history of a old console. thank you for all your time and effort! now we just need some crazy bastard to make a comment with titles and time stamps
This channel is invaluable for when I don't know what system or genre of game I want to play. I just pick a video collection and skip through until something gets my attention, download it and emulate away!! Thanks for all your videos :)
Ok, I'm done! A 3.5 hours trip down memory lane!! It's only now that I'm watching actual gameplay of most of these games because back then it was all about reading reviews in magazines, and despite the heavy marketing and relative popularity some franchises had back then (e.g. Pandemonium), we never heard from them ever again! Some games haven't aged very well, specifically racing games, sports games and open world 3D games: they look bland and rather empty... and the short draw distance is really intrusive in some games, with buildings even popping up all of a sudden right in front of you in some fast-paced driving games! Stylized games, like some 3D platformers, sidescrolling platformers/shoot 'em up games still look fine... and some RPGs are still as charming and cute as ever, like Saga Frontier 2!!
The slim "PS One" version of the console that came out in 2000 actually sold more units then the launch of the PS2 that year. In fact just that redesigned model apparently sold more copies then the Gamecube in total (and almost as much as the N64). The PS1 had a huge life years after the PS2 had come out - many people (including myself) only upgraded to the PS2 by the time it's redesigned slim model released.
2:34:23 I had no idea "Kula World" was called "Roll Away" in America. Similarly, I was looking for the "Monster Trucks" game for a while, but it was actually called "Thunder Truck Rally".
I've been looking for this game for more than 18 years 3:16:44 my dad used to play it before he passed out but I was too young to remember it's name, you changed a life today, thanks a lot.
Thanks, I was hoping someone had made a quickly changing demo of all PSX games. So much better than the text list on Wikipedia to judge what each game is like for collecting.
Definitely more than I listed here, but I'm listing the games I played before and very shortly after I got my PS1 for Xmas 1998. All games are PAL version since I live in Britain all my life. That must have been a real labour of love taking the time to edit that all together. Holy cow! God bless emulators and an abundance of spare time xD Good on you man, you get my thumbs up!
As someone who loves the ps1 and still collects for it, and plays it to this day ...(currently playing through chrono cross) this list is going to help me find the next games I want for my collection. Thank you!
44:43 I can't believe... I've searching for this game for years, and came to see this video wondering if I would find this game, and I got it now. What a nostalgia. I barely remember the game cuz I was very young at the time but I got it. Thanks bro! I appreciate it!
2:59:53 Tail Concerto is suprisingly a good game. At first I thought it was going to be nothing after I played Kingsley's adventure on the PS1 as well, but it showed me how good the story and the world of Tail Concerto is. (The gameplay was good too) Also the voice acting is really fun to listen^^ Done by the same people who dubbed the Persona games. I was a dumb kid when I thought that the Japanese voices would be better but the Dub is what makes it so enjoyable for me.
1,278 games. This is why I think more retro game channels should do more PS1 games. There are so many games in those 1,278 that most of us have probably never heard of. We all know about Crash Bandicoot, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear etc... but I'd like to learn about some of the really obscure games. I had the idea once to start a review series where I eventually would review every USA PS1 game ever released. It would be a fun thing to do but I never did start it. I'd have to do it just for me because I doubt I'd get tons of views on them. But maybe the algorithm would bless me lol. Who knows?
Great system, great games, thank you very much for uploading and doing this project. Made my "want" list a lot easier to see the games in motion, can't wait to view your other videos on the other systems.
I'm blown away by this video-I cannot begin to imagine the work put into it! This was really useful to me and quite entertaining (although the "N" section was rough-I don't like sports). I really appreciate what you did here!

This is not done manually, you just get all the games in a rom package, scrape the descriptions and video clips (this is done eg through RetroPie) and then use a script to put them all together in a video.
What an incredible service you've provided here. For anyone looking to curate a list of games to add to their PS Classic, this is invaluable.
Very helpful for rediscovering games I played as a kid and I only really remember the imagery and not the names of the games in many cases.
That's exactly why I'm here!
That's because everything uses the same engine. Nobody wants to make their own.

I wish you a relaxing year 2023 and above all good health.
if only these 1278 games were playable on the PS4
All hopes on ps5 being 100% backwards compatible...Maybe sony are looking at Switch and the huge library it's getting? and though we have 100's of old games toi
meanwhile, I can play half of them on my softmodded Wii :P
Retroarch solves this problem for you in ps4
@Outsider I know, just making use of what I have; Driver and Gran Turismo work really well and the Gamecube controller is alright for mapping most controls! Am tempted to buy a backwards compatible PS3 second hand at some point though to open the door to a massive game library; what are the chances of YLOD though?

Amazing console with an amazing life.
It lasted while it could.
Ahhh the good old 90s where everything has to be EXTREME!!!
These games have a magic that current ones don't. I think because many set a genre, or creators worked harder at other aspects since graphics were not perfect, I'm not sure. Either way, PS contains a great library worth preserving and playing any time.
better poor creative graphic then pixel indie shit like now
Daniel Tkach PS2 is when it went downhill
ChrisakacIoud not quite

I miss those simpler times.

Comment from 2019 RIP.
Had no idea so many games came out after 2000.
brosephjames because many developer migrate to ps2 but i still remember my mom bought me ps1 back in 2002 then i play most of game with cheap price
Me too lol
The slim "PS One" version of the console that came out in 2000 actually sold more units then the launch of the PS2 that year. In fact just that redesigned model apparently sold more copies then the Gamecube in total (and almost as much as the N64).
The PS1 had a huge life years after the PS2 had come out - many people (including myself) only upgraded to the PS2 by the time it's redesigned slim model released.
@Alex • ...Which is why I wonder why the Dreamcast had to die.

Wow, incredible work! What a trip down memory lane.
Thanks, I was hoping someone had made a quickly changing demo of all PSX games. So much better than the text list on Wikipedia to judge what each game is like for collecting.

I'm glad that there are people like you out there who put in the immense work required to make a video like this. Thank you!
6:03 Alundra is my favorite game in the PS1
Yeah, mine too! :)
thank you so much for this video I actually watched everything to the end while noting down every game I didn't have yet
That must have been a real labour of love taking the time to edit that all together. Holy cow! God bless emulators and an abundance of spare time xD Good on you man, you get my thumbs up!
I was looking for Heart of Darkness for a long time. I forgot the name, but thanks I found it. 1:15:15
Looks fun
@@Spocklee it's amazing :D, should try it
it's a top game
35:03 Hell yeah, my favorite!
52:08 maybe i'll give you a call when i need a ride to the grocery store.
I've probably spent 50 000 hours playing the Driver games. I even enjoyed the bug ridden Driv3r.
Ah yes I love this game 😎😎😎
Came here to find a few games that I didn’t remember the name for my emulator and stayed up until the end. Thanks for “unlocking” a few memories.
As someone who loves the ps1 and still collects for it, and plays it to this day ...(currently playing through chrono cross) this list is going to help me find the next games I want for my collection. Thank you!
Don't pay any significant amount of money for Blaster Master. It looks cool, but it's a massive letdown.
@@Automat1cJack Thank you for the heads up.
What's 3 games that are somewhat hidden gems you would recommend?
44:43 I can't believe... I've searching for this game for years, and came to see this video wondering if I would find this game, and I got it now. What a nostalgia. I barely remember the game cuz I was very young at the time but I got it.
Thanks bro! I appreciate it!
I have this! My father played with it. I remember the TNT pig
1:30:50 Legend Of Mana.. the best artwork and backsound music game!!
Yeah, I love the Mana series.
Looks so much better than most of these games.
I recomend alundra on the ps1 good art and music. A "zelda clone" with fantastic puzzles and deeper story
2:59:53
Tail Concerto is suprisingly a good game.
At first I thought it was going to be nothing after I played Kingsley's adventure on the PS1 as well, but it showed me how good the story and the world of Tail Concerto is. (The gameplay was good too)
Also the voice acting is really fun to listen^^
Done by the same people who dubbed the Persona games.
Who knows?
I never knew there were this many ps1 games. My new lifelong goal is to defeat every one 100%
Great system, great games, thank you very much for uploading and doing this project. Made my "want" list a lot easier to see the games in motion, can't wait to view your other videos on the other systems.
Excellent video! I watched it in like 4 parts because it was so long. It would have been 3 parts without all the damn sports games!
Your channel is amazing! congratulations from Brazil!
Thanks a lot Léo, and welcome to our channel! :)
Excellent contribution friend here I spent the 3 hours watching the whole video and choosing the ones that I liked thanks again it's great 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
1:01:54 I've been looking for this game off and on for years. Thank you now I can rest
I'm blown away by this video-I cannot begin to imagine the work put into it! This was really useful to me and quite entertaining (although the "N" section was rough-I don't like sports). I really appreciate what you did here!
Way too many sports games in general
