Just an amazingly fun, value packaged motorcycle that does so many things well. Fast enough, nimble enough and one doesn't get as worn out riding on it depending on age and physical stature. Love mine too!
To me, it's just such a great-looking bike with a big personality, quick enough to bring tears to my eyes and generally so much fun. I'm glad I finally jumped into the Ducati family after riding on the street 36 years on only the Japanese machines.
@@GettingthruLife I've been thinking of joining the Ducati family recently. The 821 and the hypermotard are currently battling it out for the attention of my wallet. I'm used to an s1000 so I'm a little worried about the lack of power but then again, I never used half the power on the litre bike.
Glad you like it, I rode sport bikes for years but picked up my first Ducati in 2020. 2019 Monster 821 Stealth, I've done a fair amount of mods including the Termi's 😉 love this bike. Might be one of the best all around bikes imo. Cheers ride safe 👍
I agree 100%. Phenomenal bike that just excels at a lot. It's pretty fast too. Not high marks on slow speed maneuverability but once rolling 20+ mph becomes much more nimble and agile feeling. Pushing it around like into the garage or walking the bike a short distance is like pushing a Harley around but likely don't have to do that much. I don't think I will ever sell this. It's a timeless classic.
Great video by a proud Ducati Monster owner. You are very knowledgeable and beautifully described the Ducati ownership experience. I own a 2012 Ducati Monster 796 and a 2020 Monster 797. Every time I take my 796 out for a ride I get compliments from people about the beautiful red Italian iconic naked motorcycle.I enjoyed riding both bikes, and would love to add the 821 to my collection. Keep up the great work!
I rode today. It was 80 degrees which happens during some winters. Yes, people generally like and approve of the Ducatis. They are brilliant motorcycles. They just run on the warm side stakes getting used too. Mine was hitting the radiator cooling fans today in traffic to keep coolant temp down below 220 degrees. In the 50-60 degree weather it's a non issue, a seat and leg warmer is nice.
Congratulations! You found a great match and, clearly, you are enjoying and loving your bike. Those are precisely the reasons why we ride. I have the R version of this bike's big brother, and I, too, enjoy it immensely, just the Italian accent of the Termi alone makes me want to ride it all the time. I would have liked to have gotten the 1200 as AMS had two mint, extremely low mileage and The "S" had the Termignoni exhaust and all their pre owned bikes have the top of the line parts added by the previous owners. The other one was the fully equipped "R" Ohlins suspensions and was grey the other Red sitting right next to mine on their floor. 15,995 and other close to 17,595 was out of my budget. I had to give up the tunable suspension aspect with my choice but ducati has spec'ed the bike's suspension setup fairly well so no complaints for the street and roads I'll see. Would like to ride on a closed course track/road course as I can assume it would be so much fun where this Monsters can still do very well but then also the risk of riding past traction level and laying it down. My motorcycles are like pets/children so a crash and damage is heartbreaking.
Awesome bike!! I really want either this or a Supersports S as my next bike. Both are pretty reasonably priced used where I am in Malaysia. Enjoy the ride and ride safe!
The monsters and the Supersport are really the only bikes I'd consider at this time of my life for value and comfort.. Maybe a streetfighter or hypermotard could be cool and different but the best all-around choice is the monster 821cc - 937cc. -Cheers from Texas.
I have a monster too!! They are great bikes with awesome sound and so versatile, that you can do anything and don’t get tired at al😊 Mine is a 2016 white 1200s and I have mine for like 2 yrs now and just like you I don’t wanna crash my baby so I ride safe 😂
The aftermarket exhausts just magnify the L-twin, big valve Desmond sound. In some cases a little too loud but with the Termignoni brand they include inserts that tone it down a tad.
Also you can tell your brother a fact he may not know. Ducati uses a specific technology not new but a big part of what makes a ducati engine special. Their motors don't use valve springs to close their drivetrain valves. 99% of other engine car, Japanese motorcycles, radial airplane, small engines use valve springs. Ducati uses a dual camshaft system on their intake and exhaust valves. A benefit because it allows for high precision opening and closing at high rpm. Desmodromic valve operation does the best job maintaining the correct valve timing in relation to piston position. Even the most modern high reving valve spring opportated bikes can run into catastrophic engine failure due to their valve train not able to keep up with super high revs.
The naked sport bikes are really gaining more attention and popularity these days with also the manufactures reacting too with more of their new bikes.
Yep its a great bike and pretty darn fast if you run it up to redline in the gears. The Ducati Quick Shifter accessory definitly adds to the performance but note, it does cost extra to have it activated in the bikes ecu which is a shame. Should be just install and go.
I have a 2015 821 Stripe and love the bike. Surprisingly I think the stock exhaust sounds pretty good, crackles nicely on downshifts. I have been thinking of replacing the exhaust if there are some marginal performance gains to be had. Is Termi the best, SC, Akrapovic or…?
I like that white stripe version a bunch. I would love to have that on mine. As far as exhausts, I've always been set in stone what a Ducati exhaust is and the Termigonini brand is at the forefront and just belongs side by side with the ducati name. When I worked at Ducati in 2011-2012 that really was the only prime option available for them to install. I've always liked the Akrapovics, Arrow, Hindle and Leo Vince for other bikes too. The SC brand and Austin Racing are basically just an extension of larger Inner/outer diameter pipe with a logo. Not really much to them, which lends them to produce more raw sound so if you like that aspect then bang on. I made a recent video to show off sound made the the termi exhaust on the 821. My sound on the mic was turned down but the bike sound due to it being loud over powered the mic and I forgot to turn the volume down in the video. if you think its clunky at low speeds try keeping the rpm 5000 or above. bike will feel smother at this rpm. ive got a 2014 with 30000km under my belt and still love it
The recommendation is yearly oil change at about $130 and that can be stretched out some depending on climate and how much a person rides. For the 2020 model, the 5 yr service for replacing the timing belt is costly at likely 1,100 to 1,400. Even though pricey, the motorcycle is worth it. Just got to do it in 2025 sometime. Good idea to change radiator coolant every 3 yrs and brake fluid 3-4 years. The lead acid battery likely to wear out3-4 years depending on climate. Nice to buy Lithium battery. Lasts longer and starts bike easier, more powerful, $190-230.

Just got one Monster 821 earlier this month and already fallen in deep love with the bike 🎉🎉🎉
Rode mine tonight 50 miles hwy. 12 a.m midnight and still 95 degrees. All month long over 105-108 degrees day. Just brutal.

Versatile is a good descriptive word. I also like unique. As I've matured, I've grown to appreciate the naked bike look and riding position.
