I really should try this game again. There is just so much to it, I got really intimidated and just spent round after round in Botany making moonshine and undercutting the bar.
For about 2 months, I'd just hide in a plant and become the plant and beat the shit out of people and if I didn't immediately get busted by an assistant with a fire extinguisher I'd just spend the rest of the round trying to break the windows out of botany until they made space weed. Nowadays I just take the curator role and space the codex gigas and then get piss drunk in the bar until I die or become a vegetable in medbay, after filling the bookshelves with WGW and throwing a few copies around the station.
I love the dropping levels of reassurance Tex projects as he goes along: "I am gonna be the head of security." "I mean, I'm going to be an okay security guy, right?" "I know how to do security!" "I haven't done it in a while..." "I just picked up the grenade launcher."

My favorite rounds on Goon (and SS13 as a whole, honestly) has always been me getting ling'd and seeing how crazy things get. Though once my body was rescued and I got borged before the end of the round, and got to step into the shuttle while the ling (who was dressed as the captain) was followed closely by two borgs who KNEW he was a ling, but the AI laws had been changed so they couldn't say anything. It was a great round.
Had a GoonRP round a few nights ago with around 20 people in it. It felt like good old classic goon. I remember the days when you had to wait for the weekend peak hours to get a round of 30+ people. I'm not gonna complain about more asshats to frustrate with my antics though, victims are always fun.
Something that bugs me about Goon now that I've started playing is the lack of Atmospherics... I mean, I get axing Atmos Techs, as having played plenty of Non-antag ATs it's a blue moon you actually get to DO ANYTHING and Antag Atmos just fucks everyone over, but removing of most of the Atmospheric Infrastructure in a game built on Atmospheric Simulation can create irksome situations. Like yesterday I was playing a Pilot Engineer and I needed to refill my O2 after many a spacewalk, but found there was an extreme lack of O2 Canisters in general and the only ones in Engineering were in Engine Storage. Problem was, the Central Engine Room had been depressurized, so I had to bum another tank from an O2 closet just to get a refill. I know Atmo Pipes are a pain in the ass and a half to map, but not having almost all of that life-support infrastructure makes a lot of problematic map features (Airlocks) more irritating than FUN.
If anything, I'd like to think Goon is thriving because *_Certain other servers_* have month by month been working to make things as clumsy and dull as possible.

You see, it would have been cool if the miner killed the ling, but lings are so stupidly overpowered lings just can only die one of two ways that are both pains in the asses and just regen and sting. This is like a PHd dissertation in how phenomenally incomparably stupid changelings are.
Ha! Well that was a heck of an adventure. Much as I enjoy the shenanigan festival, it's the up-beat attitude and willingness to roll with the punches that keeps me giggling like an idiot while watching these. Regarding the credits though: Speeeeeed run!

Goon station is great for it. With friendly community and their mentorhelp feature. Also I think that their servers are hosted in New York, USA, but they work fine even for me connecting from the EU.

Regular is “i wanna fart around and do whatever” wheras roleplay is more “i am a *_character_* in a story, so what would that character do?”
