That is the biggest strength of Solo. I sat in the theater thinking, "Now, THIS is a Star Wars film!" It was an unnecessary SW film...but, it was a real, true, REASONABLE, RATIONAL SW film.
I thought Solo gave us more of an understanding as to why Solo was the way he was when he interacted with Luke. Leia and the rebellion....Excellent movie...
It's really TLJ that created the whole drama, that movie alone- Not Solo, not R1, not even RoS, not Mando. Stop it Frosty, don't bring it up to everyone related to Star Wars just because they worked on it. Ask literally anything else.
I think the word, "toxicity" has officially become toxic. It's officially a "trigger word", and a "signalling term". I'm sick of it. Once you hear the word used, esp. regarding fandom, you already know what side the person saying it is coming from.
2:20 "Toxicity in fandom" - the on screen video worker in this clip is slow to learn - it's known as PASSION as Henry Cavill definitively stated two month ago. Interview is the only toxic element here pointing the finger at fans. Dopey.
@@Playhouse76 I guess some people at Collider (and a handful of other media outlets) look at it this way: Very positive response to The Mandalorian = Passionate Fans Very Disappointed, heartbroken, heavily critical response to The Last Jedi = Toxic Fandom. As others have stated, Mr. Henry Cavill would see those equations differently.
The Fandom really screwed themselves for not supporting Solo, all the original trilogy characters could of been recast and we could of seen more movies with Luke, Han and Leai post Return of the Jedi. Now sadly those adventures will only live in comics and novels. Thanks Star Wars fans your the best.
Zach Gerrity; yes, TLJ is the worst SW film imo. * If you like TLJ, I don’t mean to offend you. I’m just stating my view. * The prequels, while they had serious problems, did not completely retcon an OT character in a bad way, like Luke was in TLJ. - And the prequels did not completely dismiss the Jedi heritage like TLJ (the Yoda/Luke scene where they discuss destroying the Jedi texts). - Showing an angry Luke, with a drawn lightsaber, standing over his nephew, Kylo, & Luke thinking about killing him is absurd. * Fan edits of the prequels make them into pretty good films. - A fan edit cannot save TLJ because it fundamentally contradicts basic SW canon from the OT. * Rian Johnson admited to Mark Hamill that TLJ would not follow OT canon or follow fan expectations. TLJ doesn’t even follow plot logic. * For instance Po from TFA is the best Resistance pilot. Po is not told about the dumb plan by Holdo. - First, Let all the Resistance ships be destroyed except one. This is stupid. - Then have a miracle weapon of going to hyperspace into enemy ships? Why not use the miracle weapon before? (But another miracle weapon should have been done since a hyperspace ship destroying a fleet upsets the balance of power in OT canon.) * Back to the prequels, they have bad moments. But TLJ has just as many imo. - In terms of the script, TLJ fails in terms of; - The clumsy “comedy” often clashing with the more serious parts of the film. - Finn’s character being wasted on a meaningless side quest. - Kylo repeatedly flip flopping between villain & hero. - The improbable appearance of another master code breaker hanging out in jail. - And several distracting side stories like animal/child cruelty, anti-capitalism & vegetarianism. * I own multiple copies of SW films but not TLJ. I get ill just thinking about TLJ. I refuse to watch TLJ again.
The Logomaker; bottom line for me; The Empire Strikes Back (co-written by Kasdan) is a great movie. TLJ is not a great movie. It’s not even good. - As for the Solo film, I liked it. But it had a problem, getting an actor who looked like Harrison Ford & who was a good actor. Alden Ehrenreich is not a big hunk like Harrison Ford. Anthony Ingruber looks like Ford but is not that good an actor. * I know that Phil Lord & Chris Miller did The Lego Movie. But imo that doesn’t matter much with a Star Wars film which has so many ties to lore & a huge franchise. I don’t think anyone could have saved Solo at the box office. It needed to be postponed until the right actor could be found to play the lead.
Estaba MUY ENCABRONADO despues de The Last Jedi, esa fue la razón por la que no quise ver Solo, pero es muy buena y merece una secuela. Sorry Ron, we was upset after watching TLJ, we love you man you did a great movie. Anthony Ingruber the great missed oportunity.
Toxic Fandom? ... how about toxic media? or toxic LucasFilm employees?, and maybe toxic non fans that don't know or care about the Franchise and just want to destroy something good and beautiful, or worse yet, how about the people in charge that sacrifice something loved by millions to a social\political eligious agenda?... i could go on, but i think you get the gist... :)
atomicamelancolica no it’s the fandom that is toxic! Let’s look at all the crap the fans dead to the actors and actresses who were only doing their jobs for the last Jedi! And let’s look at how that affected directors. If I was a director after I saw that I wouldn’t even want to touch a Star Wars film. I don’t care how much I would be getting paid I would still turn the contract down. It is the fandom that has ruined Star Wars fans Who actually enjoy the movies like myself. End it has also ruined it for actors and actresses. Before the last Jedi I was wanting to go to Star Wars celebration to meet everybody, after the last Jedi I didn’t even want to be associated with the fandom because I saw what everybody did even though I loved the film.
The Logomaker So it’s been over a year and I can tell you it’s true....RJ single handedly ruined SW for me. I love good films but you don’t see his goal was to subvert expectations, ruin Luke’s character, and sprinkle in all kinds of political messages. Not good story telling.
The Logomaker I respect your opinion but will never agree with you. My opinion stands. I guess seeing Luke squeeze alien space teets and watch blue milk dribble down his chin is what you always longed for in a space opera. Respect my right of opinion and let’s agree we will never agree.
I loved Solo and thought RH did a great job with the situation he was dealt, but Frosty, because people didn’t like the film does not make them toxic, that premise is becoming boring very quick
Solo in the end turned out to be the most well acted, written, casted, and directed. I still wish for Solo 2
Need it to be on Disney plus to continue the Darth maul and Qira story.
I was upset at Last Jedi but was pleasantly surprised with Solo when I watched it.
Lol, you gotta be kidding!
Mads D the secret is very low expectations
If you think of it as a “Firefly-esque” SCI-FI movie with a Star Wars facade, it wasn’t half bad.
@@lovetheblue6659 Need it to be on Disney plus to continue the Darth maul and qira story line.
Solo succeeded for me because Lawrence Kasdan wrote it and he understands Star Wars and is not a Disney type.
I enjoyed Solo. Also I think Rush is such an underrated film.
I have no interest in motor sports, but remember the events of Rush when I was a child in the 70's.
Rush was incredible!
Make Solo a Disney+ series
If Donald Glover would be on board, Disney+ having a Lando series would be cool.
nah
Yes! And continue the Maul/Qi’ra storyline!
Darth maul and qira is the story to tell.
Have so much love and respect for Ron Howard, ever since The Andy Griffith Show! Fine actor and director.
Solo is pretty good, and honestly I'd LOVE to see a Solo series on D+ continuing the Q'ira storyline, and I would love to see more Alden as Han!
I loved Solo. It was a huge step up in quality after TLJ.
That is the biggest strength of Solo. I sat in the theater thinking, "Now, THIS is a Star Wars film!" It was an unnecessary SW film...but, it was a real, true, REASONABLE, RATIONAL SW film.
@@anthonyyoutubefan7567 well put!
As soon as I heard the interviewer talk about “The Toxic Fandom” I couldn’t continue. Collider has gone down hill
I hope Ron was not discouraged by the haters. Solo was fantastic Ron. It would be awesome to see you back in the Star Wars universe at any capacity.
Solo was probably the SW movie I was least excited to see. However, I loved it. Probably my third favorite new Star Wars movie.
out of all the Star Wars Films since The Force Awakens "Solo" was my Favourite
I thought Solo gave us more of an understanding as to why Solo was the way he was when he interacted with Luke. Leia and the rebellion....Excellent movie...
His voice is so youthful. Ron is in his late sixties sounds much younger.
Ron Howard is kickass!! I liked Solo, the movie was enjoyable and a great time.❤
Even at his age, I cant see anyone else except Steve from American Graffiti 😂

Yeah but funny enough that’s the only film to not have any behind the scenes drama
I like solo... a solid film..
In other words, no way in hell he’s doing another SW project. He must have been completely turned off from his experience on Solo.
@The Logomaker Star Wars isn't ruined you idiot. Kasdan co-wrote ROTJ, the best SW movie ever made.
Qira and Darth maul continuation on Disney+.
@The Logomaker wtf, Kasdan was co-writer on ESB and ROTJ
Great director! but unfortunate! to have been thrown into the mix!✌️💙🤕💥😁

That people aren't being able to tell the difference between passion and toxicity is a big part of the problem.

Collider contributed to the toxicity of fandom. You talk about it like it's somewhere over there. Hysterical. You made a career out of it. Shame.
This is the most unfunny Bill Burr interview I’ve ever seen.
There is so much controversy over young and old Solo. Tell me, is young Robert Plant look the same as 1980s Robert Plant?
I have an idea of movie you might like to try xWing rogue squadron I would not mind seeing that doing maybe live action or animated Ron Howard
WE NEED SOLO ON DISNEY+. To CONTINUE THE QIRA and Darth Maul Story line and have cameos from Alden and Donald Glover and Sana Starros. Make it Happen.
So this is what Bill Burr will look like in another decade

Great and talented director who unfortunately was assigned a Star Wars film that no one wanted to see.
Can't believe everyone here is still ragging on Last Jedi three years later. In hindsight it was easily the best of the new trilogy.
Zach Gerrity; TLJ is the worst Star Wars film imo. Kasdan co-wrote the Empire Strikes Back, the best SW movie, again imo.

Rian Johnson ruined The Last Jedi in my opinion. Does that make me toxic because he chose subversion?
