I have an 08 Sierra with over 300,000 on it, bought with 140,000, same issue with number 7 misfire code, frame rust pretty bad planning on doing frame repair, been the best vehicle I’ve ever owned 👍
early 5.3's like a 1999 does no have AFM right?

My truck has the same thing, GMC “fixed” it 3 times and it still won’t go away, any idea what else it could be??

Did cylinder 7 have compression ? I’m having the same problem. Also noticed when I pulled out the spark plug it had light oil.
Did you get the issue resolved I had the same issue, replaced spark plugs wire and injector

There is a lawsuit/recall on the gm 5.3 motors over the lifters failing and losing oil but they aint a recall on the 4.8 but don't they work the exact same? And if so why is the recall not for the 4.8 also

Samething happened to me too
Mine was doing the same thing, but I have oil in it. I replaced the valve guides, and it was good for a few days now it's back to leaking oil in the cylinder.
Had the same issue on a 2015 gmc collapsed lifter, replaced it but still getting a misfire. Kind of curious to see if the ecm is cutting off 7th injector what’s the best way to bench test the fuel injector?
Use a power probe and apply the negative alligator clip to one pin and hold the end of the prong to the other pin and the injector should click you’ll be able to feel it.
I did a dod/afm delete after the 2 time my lifter collapse now i havnt had the problem my truck stays v8 the whole time instead of going into v4 mode
I’m really hoping I don’t have another collapsed lifter. Mine is misfiring again after I replaced every top end component on my motor. Including cam.

This is exactly what happened to my Impala SS, only it scored my camshaft and cost me a pretty penny to fix. Now it’s misfiring again after less than 10k miles on the fix.
How much time and money for parts did this project take?

Was the misfire intermittent? Mine does it every once and awhile. Had the satilotrac/traction service come on twice. Once with a check engine light
I just had that happen to me driving home. Did you ever figure out the problem @krandom354
@@EllieBeanShow it was ignition coil pack for cylinder 7. Only showed up as misfire when plugging in the check tool.
Mine is doing the same thing on number 7 every once in awhile the trac light will come on and check engine light flash only thing is it won’t do it when the lights are on @krandom354
@@ryanboils7703 replace the spark plugs and spark pack. Fixed mine

Did anyone do a compression test?, I'm curious how it would compare to a known good cylinder compression
I did, there was compression bc a valve was stuck closed, so what came down to finding the problem was popping the valve cover and starting the truck. the intake valve on #7 was stuck closed so you could see the rocker arm not moving at all, ,. bc of bad lifter
How much did that cost to fix ????

Just get rid of the junk dod/afm. Delete the garbage and it will be a more reliable truck.
I have a 2014 Silverado with the 5.3 L . I'm basically in this same situation and the motor only has 63K on it. The Chevrolet dealer recommended I get a new motor ($9,000 + tax) because the compression is too low. Anyone else in this boat?
I have the same problem, Dealer said they think that 7th cylinder valve not seated right, needed a head job. Machine shop said not enough material to machine, needed NEW heads. I bought a motor from Rock Auto for $3600 instead and replaced it, STILL have the same misfire in cylinder 7. my plan is to now had the ECU checked.
@@jeffreymajeske6390 GM has offered me 30% assistance to pay for the repair. I'm still waiting to get the final verdict on the problem.
@@jeffreymajeske6390 I just heard from a Chevrolet mechanic that there is sometimes a problem with the valve lifter oil manifold. This will cause the valves to collapse and not keep the compression. At this point Chevrolet is recommending a new engine. I am not ready for that yet (11k).

So Friday night, I pulled the intake manifold off to recheck all the o rings on the injectors. I put it together on the bench, put the injectors in random order. Once back together I started it and saw the 7 wasn’t misfiring, 8 was. So I thought “hmm maybe There’s a faulty injector in the new ones I just bought. Bought an AcDelco injector, swapped 8 and it immediately ran better, great news!! I drove it around over the weekend to reset code so I could smog it. A day in I noticed cylinder 1 misfire counter going up and through “if one injector is bad in a set of new ones, 2 could be bad” I replaced cylinder 1 with another NEW acdelco injector, counter still counting on cylinder one, throwing a p301 code and now p175, misfire in 1 and fuel running rich. This madding!!!
