Games I would've loved to have seen myself on the Genesis Mini are: MUSHA OutRun OutRunners After Burner 2 Alien Soldier Alien Storm Thunder Force 4/Lightening Force Revenge of Shinobi Gain Ground Rolling Thunder 2 Atomic Runner I too think Hyperstone Heist should've made it too
zombies ate my neighbors, rocket knight adventures, flashback, shining in the darkness, general chaos, quackshot, buster's hidden treasure, chiki chiki boys, mercs, forgotten worlds would have been 10 games I would have included. High Seas Havoc also.
Good pics. I would have TRUXTON, mutant league football, Beavis and Butthead, and some Joe Montana or Madden football on there 👍 NHL was really good too.
4:23 Herzog is often referred to as one of the first, if not THE first RTS game. Herzog Zwei is the sequel, with the word "Zwei" being German for the number 2. I didn't realize this back then and it was one of my favorite games in 1989. :)
Nice list! I'm with you on on Aladdin, Desert Strike and Herzog Zwei. Apparently HZ is coming to Switch via M2's Sega Ages at some point. The rest of my list would be: Shining in the Darkness SpiderMan vs Kingpin(I know few ppl dig the Spidey game but it and Shining were reasons I got the system way back when) Warsong (english translation of Langrisser, excellent strategy RPG) Prolly not getting it because NIS owns the rights and they are releasing a remake of the frist two Langrissers on Switch next year) TMNT : tournament Fighters (this was on the SNES too) Fun fighting game with the turtles and a bunch of other wacky mutant animals Thanks for the video!
I really like Spider-Man vs Kingpin but moreso on Sega CD, love those cheesy cutscenes and bad voice acting. And if you aren't aware, Turtles Tournament Fighters is a very different game on SNES and Genesis(and it's also on NES, again a different game). I prefer the SNES version but that could be nostalgia talking.
@@Pimpjira87 Never played the Spidey on the Sega Cd. Bad voice acting is always fun. I can't rightly remember the differences between the tournament fighters games but i know i played them both. It was a long time ago!
Great coverage of the console, Vic, it's nice to see such sincere enthusiasm for SEGA and it's legacy! I mostly agree with your picks, and here are my top ten (okay it's more than ten, but I don't care at this point) swap-ins: Aero The Acro-Bat 1 Another World Battle Golfer Yui Cadash Cannon Fodder Crusader Of Centy (Soleil) Cutthroat Island El Viento Flashback: The Quest For Identity Dune II - The Battle For Arrakis Devil Crash MD Fatal Labyrinth Generations Lost Gods Golden Axe III Immortal Jurassic Park The Lost Vikings Michael Jackson's Moonwalker Minnesota Fats: Pool Legend Pebble Beach Golf Links Pirates Of Dark Water Prince Of Persia Rolling Thunder 2 Shadowrun Worms Zero: The Kamikaze Squirrel
Fun fact that few seem to realize: Mutant League Football got a spiritual successor in 2017 called Mutant Football League (notice the slight change in wording). It's on every major platform (PC/XB1/PS4/Switch) and the devs are still updating it with new rosters/teams/etc. to this day! If you're a fan of the original, you've got to check it out. It's even designed by Michael Mendheim, the creator of the original game (and yes, he was behind Mutant League Hockey as well).
Great video and here my top 10 games: Rocket knignt adventure, Thunder force 4, Gleylancer, Alien soldier, Steel empire, Gaiares, Ranger X, Musha, Aladdin and Turles hyperstone heist. And extra games Revenge of Shinobi, Golden axe 2, Eliminate down, Bio hazard battle, Atomic runner and Adventures of Batman and Robin.
1. Sonic 3 & Knuckles. 2. Robocop vs Terminator 3. The Little Mermaid (I'd list Aladdin but you already did that) 4. Batman (based on the 1989 movie) 5. Pitfall The Mayan Adventure 6. Battletoads & Double Dragon 7. Ranger-X 8. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie 9. Rocket Knight Adventures 10. Blades of Vengeance
Hell yeah, that’s a great game. The SNES classic didn’t have Turtles in Time either. Probably some issues with the TMNT licensing at this point in time.
Some of my earliest gaming memories were spent playing X-men and Maximum Carnage on the Genisis with my cousins and friends. Those two definitely should have been included. I also would’ve enjoyed to play some Tasmanian Devil and Wolverine: Adamatium Rage. Regardless, I’ll be picking up the mini on launch. 🤘🏼
I think you have a great list here. Hyperstone Heist is a must on my list and Aladdin was a Genesis title we owned and enjoyed that was different from the snes version. Maximum Carnage I played so much back in the day and even play it to this day. A licensed game I would add is Garfield Caught in the Act. I believe it was exclusive to the Genesis and it was a fun platformer. Also Gargoyles would have been cool. In terms of sports games I found it odd that there was no baseball game on the list. While SNES had the more iconic baseball games with Ken Griffey it would have been nice to see a baseball offering on there. Oh yeah and NBA Jam!
Herzog Zwei was my first thought when I saw the video title... great game. great list!...Madden should be on there too (and I'm not even a football fan).
Some games I'd include: X men 2 NBA Jam NHL 94 (maybe later ones) Joe Montana football Sonic 3 / Sonic and Knuckles TMNT HH Aladdin Mortal Kombat 2 RBI Baseball (or whatever the better baseball title, I had good fun with this) Virtual racing. I added some sports games cause they were great on the 16 bit consoles.
I remember 3 amazing games I played when I was young but I'm not sure if it was released o the sega genesis, but the games are Batman Forever, the mighty morphin power rangers and Gargoyles. I just loved the animation and level design they all had..
Vic, I'm shocked that Sonic 3 as well as Sonic & Knuckles weren't in the top spot, let alone on the list at all! Maybe this should have been a "Top 12" instead of just 10!
Surprising there are no sports games. Before the final ten (or twelve) were reviewed, Mutant League Football was one prediction I had. From this list, I wanted X-Men 2, Aladdin & TMNT Hyperstone Heist. As for others, maybe Sonic 3, Knuckles, Beavis & Butt-Head, Streets Of Rage 1, or another Phantasy Star title.
The Adventures of Batman and Robin... You forgot to mention the music is from Jesper Kyd! :) I just discovered that while playing it a few months ago. I told myself who in the world made this music, and there it was on google, my favorite video game composer Jesper Kyd... Freedom Fighters, Hitman, Splintercell, AC, and a lot more. Well, they are all perserved with emulation. I agree with Aladin, Turtles, Xmen, Mhl 94 for sure, what a huge game that was and still is fun to play today. Hopefully they make a sega cd mini as that has an even better version of it with better music. There's too many great games though.
Some of my favorites I would have liked to have seen added: Sonic 3 & Knuckles Outrun & Outrun 2019 Jurassic Park & Jurassic Park Rampage Edition Devil's Crush Truxton Afterburner II Twin Cobra Paperboy MUSHA Streets of Rage & Streets of Rage 3 NBA Jam & NBA Jam Tournament Edition
The thing about these mini consoles is that unfortunately you can’t get every game that you want. These things are meant to have a variety. The games that are on it are all great.
I liked "general chaos" and "pigskin footbrawl" - kinda similar feeling games. They were fun for a bit, but not as family friendly - so it makes sense that they weren't included. Thankfully, road rash ii included. I very much agree with the battlemech and the strike games, they were some of my favorites. I bought a mini, but I would've gladly paid more to be able to download more of the old games to the mini from an actual, sega-supported web based marketplace. The best part of the Wii from a few years back was the ability to download old NES games to the Wii. Nostalgia sells.
Our lists are pretty similar Vic, here's what I would add: 1) Rocket Knight Adventures 2) NHL 94 3) Shining Force 2 4) NBA Jam 5) Mortal Kombat 2 6) Aladdin 7) TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist 8) Sunset Riders 9) Haunting Starring Polterguy 10) X-Men 2 Clone Wars Honourable Mentions: Ranger X, Revenge of Shinobi, Zombies Ate My Neighbours, Spider-Man Vs The Kingpin, Cool Spot
Robocop Vs The Terminator was amazing on the Megadrive! So much better than the SNES version. Two Crude Dudes as well! Would have loved to see them on the collection.
1. Hyperstone Heist 2. Ghostbusters 3. Evander Holyfield 4. MK1 (due to the blood on genesis versus sweat on snes) 5. NHL94 - has to be 94 6. NBA JAM TE 7. X-MEN 8. Phelios 9. Sonic 3 10. Sonic and Knuckles
Hard to argue with any of the games on that list. I would love for NBA JAM:TE to be included as well to give another fun sports title for a system renowned for them.
Following the same rules, these would be my picks: Sonic 3/Knuckles(with lock-on if possible) MUSHA(I know it's on the japanese one) TMNT Hyperstone Heist XMen 2 Clone Wars Rocket Knight Adventures Splatterhouse 2 or 3(I forget which game I like better) Zombies Ate My Neighbors Robocop vs. Terminator Cadash Mutant League Hockey Shining Force 2, Revenge of Shinobi, Ristar, and Gain Ground would be some top picks if they weren't on recently released collections.
'Rocket Knight adventures' by Konami would have been perfect for the mini. Other licenced games like 'The Punisher' and 'Tiny Toons: Busters hidden treasure' would have been welcome additions too 🖒
I agree wholeheartedly with you on X-Men 2, Adventures of Batman and Robin or the Hyperstone Heist being part of the collection on the mini. Those games were so much fun and in the case of X-Men and Batman, frustrating, to play with my best friends back in high school, truly Sega classics. I would add Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 since we're talking Virgin titles, those are both solid game's. Don't know about Maximum Carnage, I had it back in high school too, but I enjoyed the older Sega of America Spiderman vs the Kingpin.
Nice list Vic, but how about Gargoyles for Genesis? Have you played it? If not then you should check it out, it's my favorite Disney game next to Aladdin.
Mines Batman and Robin. TMNT hyperstone heist. Thunder force 4. Fatal fury 2. X men 2 clone wars. Mega turrican. Rocket night adventures. Robo cop vs terminator. Virtua racing. Outrun.
@@philthestampede it's not a game, what he/she is trying to say with the word mine's is "these are mine what I would of picked for the mini. Basically Mine's is short for "Mine is".

Missing Genesis games I wanted: Wings of Wor Mortal Kombat 2 Ms. Pac-Man NBA Jam The Jungle Book Tazmania Lemmings Vectorman 2 Earthworm Jim 2 Where in Time is Carmen Sandiago
I already list the ones I would replace on your worst games to take out video so I won't list it here but I would love to see a lo of those license titles for the Genesis Mini too. It will eventually get hack anyways so in times we'll have all the games in there soon enough.
Excellent List. Turn-based strategy games might not be everyone's cup of tea, but no Sega collection is complete without Shining Force II on there. I'm also not sure what's all on the mini, but if Road Rash 3 was excluded then *tsk tsk tsk*
Spider-Man Vs. The Kingpin, Power Rangers The Movie, Captain America & The Avengers, Sparkster, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Jurassic Park Rampage Edition, Toy Story, Zero Wing, OutRun, Fatal Fury 2, Virtua Racing and Moonwalker
I'd love to have seen The Revenge of Shinobi, Truxton, Raiden Trad, Desert Strike, Rolling Thunder 2, Rainbow islands Extra, Advanced Busterhawk Gleylancer, OutRun, After Burner, and Super Hang-On.
Why the western releases didn't include Revenge of Shinobi makes zero sense. This was an iconic title all over the world. Outrun 2019 is Asia exclusive. I'd add the following to your awesome wishlist: Aero Busters, Battle Mania, Thunder Force IV, Gauntlet IV, Bare Knuckle 3 and, of course, Rocket Knight Adventures.
My wish list for the Genesis mini: * RoboCop versus Terminator * Earthworm Jim 2 * Boogerman * Death and Return of Superman * Zombies Ate My Neighbors * Mortal Kombat * Clay Fighter * Incredible Hulk * Ultimate Qix * Splatterhouse 3 * NBA Jam * The Punisher * Cool Spot
I used to watch judgement day with you and tommy talarico. Definitely brings back the nostalgia vibes. Very cool to see you still reviewing/covering games!

Rocket Knight Adventures is the main one that's missing for me
Maximum Carnage and X Men Clone Wars are absolute beasts everyone into retro should play those things ASAP.

The biggest shame is that Alien Soldier only made the cut on the Asian release of the Genesis Mini. And we got Alex Kidd. . . .
I love Rocket Knight. Game is incredible

Thunder Force 4/Lightening Force
Revenge of Shinobi
Gain Ground
Rolling Thunder 2
Atomic Runner
I too think Hyperstone Heist should've made it too
zombies ate my neighbors, rocket knight adventures, flashback, shining in the darkness, general chaos, quackshot, buster's hidden treasure, chiki chiki boys, mercs, forgotten worlds would have been 10 games I would have included. High Seas Havoc also.
1:Rocket Knight Adventures... 2:Virtua Racing... 3:Lightning Force (aka Thunger Force 4)... 4:Hyper Stone Heist... 5:Sonic 3 and Knuckles... 6:Xmen2 Clone Wars... 7:Sunsoft Batman... 8:Ristar... 9:Samurai Showdown... 10:Aladdin
Great list. It’s weird there aren’t any sports game s on the mini
Licencing.
Meh
Sub-Terrania is stinkin' awesome! Also, Toejam and Earl: Panic on Funkotron is just great! Those 2 are must play!
Good pics. I would have TRUXTON, mutant league football, Beavis and Butthead, and some Joe Montana or Madden football on there 👍 NHL was really good too.
Nhl 94, joe Montana football was pretty good.
Oh my God, how could I have forgotten Joe Montana Sports Talk Football 2! That game blew my freaking mind when it came out.
NHL ‘94, can’t agree more... but my personal addition is Zombies Ate My Neighbors (I believe that it was on SNES as well as Genesis).
Yes, agreed
Haunting featuring Polterguy!!!!! Great game.
4:23 Herzog is often referred to as one of the first, if not THE first RTS game. Herzog Zwei is the sequel, with the word "Zwei" being German for the number 2. I didn't realize this back then and it was one of my favorite games in 1989. :)
I wanted to see Ranger X on this list, but completely agree with you, especialy X-men, TMNT, and NHL 94!
Pretty much the same list I would make. Clone Wars not being there is heartbreaking. That game’s OST was Genesis era perfection.
Nice list! I'm with you on on Aladdin, Desert Strike and Herzog Zwei. Apparently HZ is coming to Switch via M2's Sega Ages at some point. The rest of my list would be:
Shining in the Darkness
SpiderMan vs Kingpin(I know few ppl dig the Spidey game but it and Shining were reasons I got the system way back when)
Warsong (english translation of Langrisser, excellent strategy RPG) Prolly not getting it because NIS owns the rights and they are releasing a remake of the frist two Langrissers on Switch next year)
TMNT : tournament Fighters (this was on the SNES too) Fun fighting game with the turtles and a bunch of other wacky mutant animals
Thanks for the video!
I mostly agree with your picks, and here are my top ten (okay it's more than ten, but I don't care at this point) swap-ins:
Aero The Acro-Bat 1
Another World
Battle Golfer Yui
Cadash
Cannon Fodder
Crusader Of Centy (Soleil)
Cutthroat Island
El Viento
Flashback: The Quest For Identity
Dune II - The Battle For Arrakis
Devil Crash MD
Fatal Labyrinth
Generations Lost
Gods
Golden Axe III
Immortal
Jurassic Park
The Lost Vikings
Michael Jackson's Moonwalker
Minnesota Fats: Pool Legend
Pebble Beach Golf Links
Pirates Of Dark Water
Prince Of Persia
Rolling Thunder 2
Shadowrun
Worms
Zero: The Kamikaze Squirrel
+BRTD 2005
Fantastic list! Definitely several suggestions I'll have to add once I hack mine. 👍
Was this filmed in Preston Park Brighton!? I live a ten minute walk from there!
Vic, ur list is spot on. 100% agree!
X-Men 2 Clone Wars is amazing. Love that it has an opening scene. Resetting it when you need to within the game could be weird.
So happy to see Herzog Zwei on this list. A true gem.
1. Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
2. Robocop vs Terminator
3. The Little Mermaid (I'd list Aladdin but you already did that)
4. Batman (based on the 1989 movie)
5. Pitfall The Mayan Adventure
6. Battletoads & Double Dragon
7. Ranger-X
8. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie
9. Rocket Knight Adventures
10. Blades of Vengeance
Honestly your list is pretty solid. I would probably just add Rambo 3 or a terminator title !
Yeah I would have loved to see TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist on there too.
Hell yeah, that’s a great game. The SNES classic didn’t have Turtles in Time either. Probably some issues with the TMNT licensing at this point in time.
Salvador Polanco yeah I don't really understand it too much; I think they're still under Nickelodeon property aren't they?
Some of my earliest gaming memories were spent playing X-men and Maximum Carnage on the Genisis with my cousins and friends. Those two definitely should have been included. I also would’ve enjoyed to play some Tasmanian Devil and Wolverine: Adamatium Rage.
Regardless, I’ll be picking up the mini on launch. 🤘🏼
I was REALLY hoping jungle strike would have been on there.
Some games I'd include:
X men 2
NBA Jam
NHL 94 (maybe later ones)
Joe Montana football
Sonic 3 / Sonic and Knuckles
TMNT HH
Aladdin
Mortal Kombat 2
RBI Baseball (or whatever the better baseball title, I had good fun with this)
Virtual racing.
I added some sports games cause they were great on the 16 bit consoles.
Man this batman game was hard as heck to me. Yea X-men clone wars was sick!
I remember 3 amazing games I played when I was young but I'm not sure if it was released o the sega genesis, but the games are Batman Forever, the mighty morphin power rangers and Gargoyles. I just loved the animation and level design they all had..
In terms of a non-licensed title that's not on the Mini that I'm actually pretty bummed about is Konami's Rocket Knight Adventures.
The only one I really wanted to see was Quackshot.
NBA Jam, Gunstar Heroes, Revenge of Shinobi, Sonic 3, Ristar, Jurassic Park,
The Adventures of Batman and Robin...
Splatter House 2 was an important exclusive.
You are from Judgement Day,when it used to be on G4. I miss G4
Some of my favorites I would have liked to have seen added:
Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Outrun & Outrun 2019
Jurassic Park & Jurassic Park Rampage Edition
Devil's Crush
Truxton
Afterburner II
Twin Cobra
Paperboy
MUSHA
Streets of Rage & Streets of Rage 3
NBA Jam & NBA Jam Tournament Edition
You can add all of these with a mod and many more. Or just buy a modded console.
@@spursdynasty7378 lol thanks I am aware that you can do that, the question was what games we would want provided on the mini as it is. ;)
Our lists are pretty similar Vic, here's what I would add:
1) Rocket Knight Adventures
2) NHL 94
3) Shining Force 2
4) NBA Jam
5) Mortal Kombat 2
6) Aladdin
7) TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist
8) Sunset Riders
9) Haunting Starring Polterguy
10) X-Men 2 Clone Wars
Honourable Mentions: Ranger X, Revenge of Shinobi, Zombies Ate My Neighbours, Spider-Man Vs The Kingpin, Cool Spot
Haunting Starring Polterguy
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Sunset Riders (even though the SNES version is much better)
Robocop Vs The Terminator was amazing on the Megadrive! So much better than the SNES version. Two Crude Dudes as well! Would have loved to see them on the collection.
Sonic and knuckles, Jurassic park, Mortal Kombat 2
Quackshot needed to be on the collection.
1. Hyperstone Heist
2. Ghostbusters
3. Evander Holyfield
4. MK1 (due to the blood on genesis versus sweat on snes)
5. NHL94 - has to be 94
6. NBA JAM TE
7. X-MEN
8. Phelios
9. Sonic 3
10. Sonic and Knuckles
Hard to argue with any of the games on that list. I would love for NBA JAM:TE to be included as well to give another fun sports title for a system renowned for them.
Following the same rules, these would be my picks:
Sonic 3/Knuckles(with lock-on if possible)
MUSHA(I know it's on the japanese one)
TMNT Hyperstone Heist
XMen 2 Clone Wars
Rocket Knight Adventures
Splatterhouse 2 or 3(I forget which game I like better)
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Robocop vs. Terminator
Cadash
Mutant League Hockey
Shining Force 2, Revenge of Shinobi, Ristar, and Gain Ground would be some top picks if they weren't on recently released collections.
WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game
Toy Story
Those two would be some of my picks.
'Rocket Knight adventures' by Konami would have been perfect for the mini.
Other licenced games like 'The Punisher' and 'Tiny Toons: Busters hidden treasure' would have been welcome additions too 🖒
Konami and Capcom did wonderful things for Sega once they were freed from Nintendo's illegal 3rd party prison from 1992 on.
I can’t wait to play Aladdin again! Such a good game.
Rocket Knight Adventures, Ranger-X, and Crusader of Centy. SE-GA!
One I would add in is True Lies. One of better movie based games.
Nice list Vic, but how about Gargoyles for Genesis? Have you played it? If not then you should check it out, it's my favorite Disney game next to Aladdin.
Mines
Batman and Robin.
TMNT hyperstone heist.
Thunder force 4.
Fatal fury 2.
X men 2 clone wars.
Mega turrican.
Rocket night adventures.
Robo cop vs terminator.
Virtua racing.
Outrun.
Cracking picks, just what I would of picked and maybe added Super Monaco GP.
What is mines?
@@philthestampede it's not a game, what he/she is trying to say with the word mine's is "these are mine what I would of picked for the mini. Basically Mine's is short for "Mine is".
@@retrostansolo oh. Thanks for the translation. I'm not great at urban speak or ebonics but I'm taking a class this spring. A colon would have made it easier to figure out.
@@philthestampede I'm not going to even take that troll bait. 😂😂😂 you must be a kid.
Quackshot
Biohazard Battle
Ristar
Sonic 3
Sonic and knuckles
Sub-Terrania
TNMNT Hyperstone Heist
Rocket Knight Adventures
Alien Soldier
MK2
Missing Genesis games I wanted:
Wings of Wor
Mortal Kombat 2
Ms. Pac-Man
NBA Jam
The Jungle Book
Tazmania
Lemmings
Vectorman 2
Earthworm Jim 2
Where in Time is Carmen Sandiago
I already list the ones I would replace on your worst games to take out video so I won't list it here but I would love to see a lo of those license titles for the Genesis Mini too. It will eventually get hack anyways so in times we'll have all the games in there soon enough.
Have to agree with xmen, one of my favorite games of all time
Edit: no nba jam? Wow, thought nba jam and nhl 94 should have both been on there
Excellent List. Turn-based strategy games might not be everyone's cup of tea, but no Sega collection is complete without Shining Force II on there. I'm also not sure what's all on the mini, but if Road Rash 3 was excluded then *tsk tsk tsk*
...and the phantasy star games were also GEMS
Spider-Man Vs. The Kingpin, Power Rangers The Movie, Captain America & The Avengers, Sparkster, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Jurassic Park Rampage Edition, Toy Story, Zero Wing, OutRun, Fatal Fury 2, Virtua Racing and Moonwalker
Herzog Zwei was a must. They already had Thunder Force III from Technosoft. Plus, M2 is working on releasing it this year on consoles
If I could add more games it would be Streets of Rage 1, Sonic 3, Alien Storm, Bio-Hazard battle, MK 1, NHL Hockey and Outrun
My wish list for the Genesis mini:
* RoboCop versus Terminator
* Earthworm Jim 2 * Boogerman
* Death and Return of Superman
* Zombies Ate My Neighbors
* Mortal Kombat * Clay Fighter
* Incredible Hulk * Ultimate Qix
* Splatterhouse 3 * NBA Jam
* The Punisher * Cool Spot
Great list! I would only add nba jam and ayrton senna gp2
How could they not include the original MK?? Any game that had a famous code that people still remember should be in a compilation.
Perhaps adding Phantasy Star I, II, and III, would have been great!
No one mentioned NHL '94??
I'd also add Shining Force
No Sonic & Knuckles? Blasphemy!!! 😟
it wasn't on the 50 Sega classics ps4 collection either
Sonic 3 and Sonic&Knuckles have music licensing issues... Blame Michael Jackson :P
