Okay.. after approximately 1532 times listening.. I love this whole entire thing. Just from beginning to end. You guys are just so good at setting a scene for your music videos. I love so much that iconic bassline to start off with of course, which.. I knew would sound great, but I didn't realize just how much Geoff's voice would be just absolutely perfect for it. Eli and Cesar singing a bit more in their lower range as well, I really cannot sing their praises enough. They sound incredible and they blend so well in this, also together with Anthony, which I truly could not have imagined to fit so well with a song like this. Just so powerful, to combine that with Layne's ... I don't even know what to call it. Truly sounds that are out of this world bringing this to a whole other level. This arrangement is so interesting to me. I thought I knew this song, but this is like unearthing every other possible perspective. Crossing over into club or edm music, rock and pop music with the riffs and runs. What a masterful combination. I really like the choices that were made here. I can hardly believe it is the same song, when it clearly is, there's just so much awesome-ness in there. When you think you know a song, and you know what's coming, but there's actually no way to really know what is coming. Spectacular, really. Always a surprise with these guys. Not just the big picture, but also in the details. It remains a familiar song with so many new elements. Visually this video is very sleek, with such a great use of mostly natural lighting. Costumes are perfectly minimal but look SO good on all of you and the 'dirt' make-up is there to just finish it off with just the right amount. You nailed the perfect amount of menacing and threatening with the presence of weapons, though I would have loved to see you smash in some windows too, though, let's not condone violence or vandalism. *chef's kiss* What a masterpiece, fellas! I just can't!!!! My previous fav was Pentatonix, and I give them props, but you guys are so much more pure in sound and tone. Chills. Damn! The only difference that makes me choose Pentatonix sometimes is Mitch. He carries the group, honestly. Always has. And he's even better live.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate 1:39?? 😱 And, the way the song progresses, not changing tempo but *feeling* like it's changing tempo, as we start with no percussion but a pulse on 2 and 4, to a stronger feel with percussion on 2 and 4, leading to percussion on every downbeat...this makes my heart positively RACE by the end! This arrangement is incredible. That wall of sound near the end just blows me back in my seat. You craft these arrangements MASTERFULLY, Geoff. I love how you guys are always pushing the envelope with your work, whether it be percussion sounds I've never heard Layne make before, high screaming rock notes that Eli does seemingly effortlessly, Cesar's smooth delivery, Anthony's riffing...I'm continually in awe of you guys.

Wow!!! These guys are constantly stepping it up. Not just vocally but with the whole production. All of them are improving to a mind blowing blowing level of skill but Eli really stands out for for how well he's been leading with tenor since Earl left and then Geoff gets deeper and more clear with every song

Eli and Cesar singing in the beginning just about broke me. So good! Everyone is amazing in this, all of details are perfect. Geoff and Laine blew my mind with all of the percussion and backup bass.
I've been thinking about this, too. And I think the "chapters" of the narrative actually come in a different order than when each of these videos were made. (If we include "Enemy" in this tetralogy): 1) "Enemy" comes first, when the political rifts leading to the collapse are just starting to form, and Society is splintering. 2) Then this song, when the narrator is still full of bravado, and certain they'll win. 3) Then "Dream On," after the war has dragged on, and there's a recognition of mortality, of all the lost years, and lost innocence ~but not lost hope~ 4) And finally, "Warriors" is the post-post-apocalypse warriors are singing about how they rebuilt civilization (we built this town from the dust), and reminding the youth of the next generation that there will be a time when they, themselves, will be tested.

A small detail, and I'll be surprised if this is read by anyone, but the cuts to Eli during Geoff's bass notes gives the impression that Geoff's bass echoes thru the whole building and I love that.

I absolutely love Anthony and Eli trading the high notes part!! Im not a musical expert, not even close, but I have yet to find a single video or song that these men to not literally destroy. I must know the name of the gentleman who does all the special sounds and rythms and beats with his lips. It's amazing.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate 1:39?? 😱 And, the way the song progresses, not changing tempo but *feeling* like it's changing tempo, as we start with no percussion but a pulse on 2 and 4, to a stronger feel with percussion on 2 and 4, leading to percussion on every downbeat...this makes my heart positively RACE by the end!
This arrangement is incredible. That wall of sound near the end just blows me back in my seat. You craft these arrangements MASTERFULLY, Geoff. I love how you guys are always pushing the envelope with your work, whether it be percussion sounds I've never heard Layne make before, high screaming rock notes that Eli does seemingly effortlessly, Cesar's smooth delivery, Anthony's riffing...I'm continually in awe of you guys.

@@Machete_Kissed_Ya Geoff sang with morning voice only once. It registered on the Richter scale and some buildings suffered minor damage. People sheltered in place. He had to promise the authorities to never do that again. So what you hear in this video is just his normal, everyday voice. 🤣🤣

Wow!!! These guys are constantly stepping it up. Not just vocally but with the whole production. All of them are improving to a mind blowing blowing level of skill but Eli really stands out for for how well he's been leading with tenor since Earl left and then Geoff gets deeper and more clear with every song
I've listened to this crew for years and seeing Geoff turn into a grey fox is probably the greatest thing i will experience in my lifetime.
Every time the bassist sings I get a massive smile. He goes so low it's insane.

Eli and Cesar singing in the beginning just about broke me. So good! Everyone is amazing in this, all of details are perfect. Geoff and Laine blew my mind with all of the percussion and backup bass.

I've been thinking about this, too. And I think the "chapters" of the narrative actually come in a different order than when each of these videos were made. (If we include "Enemy" in this tetralogy):
1) "Enemy" comes first, when the political rifts leading to the collapse are just starting to form, and Society is splintering.
2) Then this song, when the narrator is still full of bravado, and certain they'll win.
3) Then "Dream On," after the war has dragged on, and there's a recognition of mortality, of all the lost years, and lost innocence ~but not lost hope~
4) And finally, "Warriors" is the post-post-apocalypse warriors are singing about how they rebuilt civilization (we built this town from the dust), and reminding the youth of the next generation that there will be a time when they, themselves, will be tested.

As I reviewed all the works you’ve done for 2023, this is my favorite one. The arrangement is just mind boggling!! So creative and refreshing!! I absolutely love Anthony and Eli trading the high notes part!! Not to mention Geoff’s drop, Cesar’s sass and Layne’s sounds effects and beats (what in the world is the transformer transition beatboxing? 🤯)!! Just incredible!!

Tellement précis dans leurs harmoniques, dans le respect du rythme (mais bon, avec un beatboxer et une basse pareils...), dans la justesse de placement de chaque note, qu'ils peuvent tout se permettre et inviter qui ils veulent : leurs reprises sont toujours innovantes, maîtrisées, sublimes, même (surtout) sur des morceaux de légendes! Got here from a friend’s recommendation, and as a longtime fan of the original White Stripes version as well as the remix by The Glitch Mob, this really impressed me with how naturally it stands on its own. All of you fantastic gentlemen have brought something fresh and fabulous to this a cappella rendition that makes it unique - even as a cover of a popular stadium chant for years and years. This is such an amazing cover of this song, you guys literally blew my expectations of away. I love the EDM kind of feeling of this song, I was not expecting that at all but it fits this song so well. I loved hearing Cesar and Eli's lower range in this, they just sound so good in this😍And omgg Anthony killed it in this one, his runs are just so smooth. Geoff and Layne blew it out of the park with this one too, Geoff's bass in this and Layne's beatboxing are out of this world. Like I am so impressed by the sounds that Layne can make. And the setting/costumes are perfect for this. it always amazes me how you keep finding these abandoned places xD I am so happy that this is out now so I can share it with everyone that I know.
