there's a common trend of mike's first few opponents 'unwisely getting up' 😂😂😂
For a drink game

Getting up is the most common mistake made
@@justinyuen4950 fr
@@demoniac972 good lord , good luck to your liver🤣🤣 at least it will be in better condition compared to... ahahah
Obviously his power was awesome, but what always made him terrifying to me was his head movement. Imagine throwing punches at a guy, hitting nothing but air, and then he hits you once and sends you flying. Truly a 1 of 1.
This video show how technical he was and not only talks about his power like all others.
Agreed…. I remember him saying after one fight that his best weapon was his “elusiveness” 👍
Not 1 of 1, I can think of a few like him, but they get rarer as time carries on. I can't think of any in this current era.
Facts 😂😂
His head movements were incredible until he left Kevin Rooney. After that it was all downhill unfortunately
Dodging 12 punches in a row, replying with one and ko is nuts
Love the 8-bit title graphics. One of my favorite NES games.
Mike Tysons Punch Out
I was thinking of what NES game was my favourite just the other day, and I think it's that one.
Tyson in his prime has never been seen before or since. A combination of incredible speed, skill, and flat out aggression. I recognized sheer mortal danger when i saw it. Dude was terrifying.
That Tyson, pre prison, would give any heavyweight a problem. The speed, power and angles he had were, like you said , nothing we have ever seen before or after. People don’t give Mike enough credit for his boxing skills. Tyson was an extremely technical fighter and a boxing historian. He lived this sport. I will always say that a prime Mike Tyson was one of the greatest heavyweight boxers in history.
@@jasonellis9777 Name Tyson's most significant win.
@@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302 his most significant would have to be Spinks. And I know he was a light heavyweight that moved up. But he was undefeated, beat Larry Holmes twice and was a solid champion. It’s not that Mike beat him but rather the way he did. 91 seconds to blast out a guy that had never lost…you can’t take that away from him. Also knocking out Larry Holmes was something too. Larry never got Ko’ed before or after and he had a pretty solid “second” career.
@@jasonellis9777 So Mike Tyson's two best wins are a Light Heavyweight (originally a middleweight early in his career I might add) who fought him at 31 while Tyson was 21, and a 38 year old Larry Holmes who had been retired for two years and only came back for a $2.8 million dollar payday.
Meanwhile he lost to Holyfield twice, demolished by Lennox Lewis, and never fought Riddick Bowe.
But I'm supposed to put him in the same conversation as the Heavyweight legends of the 70's like Ali and Foreman. Right.
@@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302 Very based opinion.
I'm glad you added heights and weights to this video, because it really highlights just how much smaller Tyson was compared to the vast majority of his competition. He was usually outweighed by 10 to 30lbs, and in the rare cases where he was the bigger man, he'd usually only outweigh his opponents by under 5 lbs.
It gets even more stark late in his career, as Mike fought at his heaviest (around 235) but fought BEHEMOTHS who regularly hit the 260+ mark.
It’s bizarre how he looks like a terrifying little person against other heavyweights, but if you saw him in person you’d be like “wow, he’s a pretty tall man that’s built like a fire hydrant.”
@@corngreaterthanwheat I haven't seen Mike in person, but I've seen him in videos with Henry Cejudo (during Cejudo's chunky "retirement" phase), and I'm like "damn, he's just barely taller than Cejudo." I feel like he's gotten shorter with age, like he's gone from 5'10" to 5'8". Or maybe it was just the camera angle.
@@Tenchigumino it happens especially with active people. I was 5 ,11 outta school and at 44 I'm just barely 5,9 you shrink
Nah you just have a problem.@@c.jjohns6758
Taking a shot for every "unwisely" said changes a man heavily
You should have waited to make this video until Tyson knocked out Jake Paul.
😂😂😂
Tyson's 58 and it's probably gonna be an exhibition, not an actual bout. It's gonna be a snoozefest that ends in a draw 😂
Video wouldn't have ever released
It ain’t happening
@@Snowforest60😂 Yeah sure, buddy.
Peter McNeely wasn't mentioned, but he too, unwisely got back up after McNeeling to the canvass.
Yeah cuz it was a DQ, but damn I wish I'd put it in for that pun, well done haha
Unwisely
Very unwisely
@@TheModernMartialArtist What song did you use during the 2nd Frank Bruno fight?
I love the punch out reference. Such a classic game.
The thumbnail is absolutely brilliant 😅👌
Epic
Naturally
" despite the name -Donnie Long- the bout was short lived " am deaaad 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love how Mike never knows where his corner is after a knockdown. Great video!
It's crazy to think Tyson was so good even tho he lost all his good boxing coaches/role models/teacher's. Then he had toxic people stealing from him, not caring about his well being.. Yet he still made such a legendary impact on the sport. Even tho he was much smaller than all of his opponents. He truly was a unique talent
Drinking game for this video.
Take a shot every time my man says, "He unwisley got back up." Black out by the end 😂😂😂
Love the content, brother! Never miss an upload
I like how the profile pictures went from Nintendo 8 bit era pixelated to clear resolution as Tyson started raking up wins. Nice touch.😁
My personal favorite K.O. of Tyson's is the second Bruno one. I've watched it so many times it's just amazing. Imagine Mike coming out of prison eager to regain his title, ferociously attacking Bruno for 3 rounds, until the Britain had to improvise- stepping in south paw, Tyson ducking underneath and exploding with his signature "left, down the right combination", throwing hooks and uppercuts to Frank's face, ultimately ending his career. Another detail is- what I think is a woman screaming JUST as Mike unleashes the 1-2 combo at 28:33... it just adds up to the slaughter :D (I suggest watching the fight with audio :D). By the way I'm pretty sure he had only 1 loss coming into the fight with Bruno, perhaps he was 43-1 rather then 41-3. Non the less amazing video, thanks for the work :)
Exactly I was wondering the same thing I thought Mike only had 1 loss at that point...
“You’ll never guess…
A LEAPING GAZELLE HOOK!”
That’s incredible, he really inspire so much fear into his opponents, once they start getting hit, his momentum just get rolling and it’s over
I will never tire of watching Tyson's matrix-style dodging of 12 blows before delivering one devastating left hook. I cannot imagine how helpless his opponent must have felt. 😂😂😂
Bro I love the humor you've added 😂😂 especially the Rickie Spanish one 😂 American Dad is amazing
Rickyyyy Spanishhhhh....
Mike Tyson was actually 37-1 when he fought Tillman! Thank you for this breakdown!!!!
David glad to see you back at it. Iron mike for me the best ever. Perfect technique perfect physical condition.
That was a great breakdown of all Mike Tyson’s KO’s. Awesome video! Thank you.
Poor Hector Mercedes. Reminds me of Glass Joe in Punch Out LOL
Sent stumbling from a Tyson jab within seconds.
His boxing Skills and IQ are rarely appreciated. People assumed he was just a hard punching brawler. You're breakdowns show his true skill and abilities.
Insane amount of research went into this, anyone can tell.
His style was impetuous, his defense was impregnable.
He was ferocious! He wanted your heart! He wanted to eat your children!
No it wasn't. His style relied completely on his youth. He had no heart and his defense was really poor. Just look at how he got beat by Holyfield and Douglas.
@@generalwadehampton.2578 Sounds like someone doesn't know the quote... And is a loser 😂 fucking lame
@@generalwadehampton.2578 I'm gonna take a guess that you don't know what I'm referring to?! 🤔
@@timephire idc I'm just of Tyson meat riders.
Say what you want about tyson career, if he was overrated, underrated, etc, but to his credit, tyson ko of reggie gross was one of the greatest of the heavyweight division, that dodging and counter was beautiful to see
I was just looking for a video like this. Thank you man
Style coupled with natural talent. The quintessential freak of nature coupled with a style perfect for said freak of nature.
Glad to hear you highlight the Gross fight. Truly showcased his amazing skill 👏
This has the potential will be a very epic video. Thank you for posting.
As a kid, my impression was that Mike was just a wild dude that could hit hard. Seeing him bob and weave, evade, side step, all of it, was eye opening. I never got to see the fights, just always heard about them on the playground!
Mike Tyson could've, and should've, been the greatest heavyweight of all time. People talk about Cus (rightly) but it was Kevin Rooney who kept Tyson focused and disciplined after Cus. It was King telling Tyson to ditch Rooney ( the last person in boxing that, like Cus, cared about him and wanted to make him great) that destroyed Tysons career. Its one of the greatest tragedies and what ifs in sport history.
He had zero chance of gaining the title of greatest heavyweight of all time.
To start, the era Tyson fought in was a downtime in the heavyweight division. From when he knocked out Trevor Berbick until he lost to Buster Douglas, name me one notable heavyweight of that era.
Then, when big name heavyweights were around, he either never fought them (Riddick Bowe) or lost to them (Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis).
This nonsensical notion of Mike being so dominant, when his resume is so subpar, is truly a wonder of seeing him on video knocking out tomato cans and everyone thinking this is how it went for every one of his fights. Most fighters dominate their early opponents, it's not shocking he knocked out a bunch inside the first few rounds, most top end fighters did the same.
Also to pretend Tyson's technique didn't start to degrade almost immediately upon D'Amato's passing is ridiculous, Tyson has even admitted it himself. When Cus died, he had no one to be perfect for, and his footwork and head movement degrade with each fight after. Rooney and the rest of D'Amato's team were smart to keep him constantly fighting to keep him focused, but Ultimately once the success kicked in it was a losing game. Even fights Tyson is winning in the mid stages of his career he is doing through sheer power, not the techniques that he had honed under D'Amato.
But to pretend Tyson had any chance dethroning the actual GOAT in Muhammad Ali is a level of retarded I can't even fathom. Ali ducked no one, fought multiple hall of famers (George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Sonny Liston, Floyd Patterson, Archie Moore, Ken Norton) and either beat them in their only match, or on the few occasions he did lose, would win the rematch and then the rubber match. That's why Ali is the greatest of all time.
@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302 I said Rooney kept him disciplined. The fact you call Ali the greatest says everything. Ali isn't even in the top 5 greatest.
@@CraicDealer Ali has wins over eight boxing hall of famers (Moore, Patterson, Frazier, Foster, Liston, Norton, Holmes and Foreman).
Tyson has two in Spinks, who was a light heavyweight, 10 years older than Tyson at the time of their match, and retired after, and Larry Holmes, who was literally retired for two years before their fight and was only lured back for a $2.8 million dollar payday.
Yes, Ali was the greatest of all time, when he lost to Frazier and Norton, he not only won the rematch, he won the rubber match. He ducked no one, also lost three years of his prime just like Tyson (though certainly not for the same reason) and fought a significantly tougher era.
The better question is why you're so desperate to prop up a guy who spent 90% of his career first round KO'ing tomato cans.
@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302 I don't care much for Tyson, actually, I was just pointing out his career and getting fucked over, repeatedly, by that snake King. None of that makes Ali the greatest, cos that's not how boxing works. Joe Louis was the greatest heavyweight.
Love that comment you bang on
The thumbnail looks like Mike Tyson as the Doom Slayer. Dodge and hit until is done. Great video as always 🔥🔥🔥
About 10 years ago, I tried to watch every bout in Tyson's career. It looks like you got some footage of a few that I couldn't find. As always, it is a pleasure to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Amazing job, mate. Amazing job.
I LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS. THANK YOU BRO FOR ALL YOU DO
Great informational video! And a cool thumbnail 👍
It's great to see you have fun with it.
Loving the shade being thrown 🙏
5:33 this one is the most shocking.
Johnson was walking to his left... the punch was so strong that spinned his whole body to the other side by the neck.
What a monster.
Good video, man! Love the 😊 simple clean Punch Out cards. Editing is simple and used well to highlight what youre discussing. Only thing I'd change is to maybe use some more varied language. "Unwisely decided to get up" being what I noticed repeatedly. I'm falling in an odd rabbit hole of boxing content, and if you make more videos I'll be watching!
30:15 what the hell was that laughter, I thought my neighbour started laughing because I farted at the same time. lmao.
That was my wife in the other room laughing at my stupid joke haha
@@TheModernMartialArtist You're the man! Your wife laughs at your jokes. My wife only does when she wants to buy something expensive on our credit card.
Probably the best/toughest thumbnail I've seen. Kudos for that bruh.
This is a treat
Take a shot every time the opponents "unwisely get up". PLEASE DO HOLYFIELD VS TYSON or Buster Douglas
Hey man. Love the acknowledgment of your own jokes, I thought they were pretty damn funny, and you pointing them out actually clued me in (the Thomas the tank engine line) to a joke I missed! Lol
Next, do Tyson's losses, or least the ear-biting technique. I'd love to see a "breakdown" on ear-biting.
The Ricardo Spain fight had Tyson listed at 5'1 1/2 lol I mean, he was short for a Heavyweight, but not that short lol.
I know I’m being selfish but I wish u would upload more I can’t get enough of your channel it’s great I will be a member one day
This a video real ogd been waiting for
*hell yea*
I will be rewatching this a couple of times. Hope ya don't mind 💪🏽
Tyson
this video documenting tyson's absolutely brutal and just bloodthirsty career is perhaps my favourite video you have ever done, the way you crack up slightly at times at the sheer obsurdity of the dude's power🤣
keep it up sir, i love your videos and i always look forward for more🫡🫡🫡
(people who dont sub are almost as 'unwise' as most of tyson's opposition🤣🤣🤣)
great job dude... another interesting video would be a analizys of how tyson was declining or showing signs of a possible loss before the douglas fight!
Fantastic Video.
I love the little giggle at the corny joke 1:58
That's one hell of a thumbnail composition. Suprisingly, I can't recall seeing the concept done quite like this before.
Lmao!! you should've used Balrog's stage music in the background instead. Awesome video!!
David, I really enjoy your videos. That said, there are adverbs out there besides 'unwisely.'
Modern martial artist knows how to throw shade
I also thought Ricky Spanish from American Dad
24:49 Williams had the longest reach of any of Tyson opponents at 85 inches the same as Tyson Fury.
but if you cannot use this advange reach range will pose many problems, williams couldn't utilize this god given advantage efficiently against tyson
@@mustafaatalay212 no it's that Tyson's inside style works best the longer the opponents reach. The first thing Williams did was a well placed well timed jab, he used his reach perfectly well.
Thanks I will aplicate this kind of combos and movents in kickboxing
great work david could you do a breakdown about carlos monzon and a fantasy fight with hagler
"unwisely got back up" Great video, thank you!
Did not expect an American Dad reference but you hooked me!
Thank you❤
Thank you ❤
After this, we have to talk about his losses in as much detail as possible!
This is wild
On this note, please do the Douglas fight! We’re long overdue for it.
When you pause before Mike lands the punch i be looking away 🤣
This video can be summed up to… “he unwisely got back up and Tyson threw a left hook” lol
Never knew Tyson was so technical, what a terrifying fighter
5:51 Dannie Long, but despite his name the bout was short 😂😂😂. Man that was a savage voice-over
14:20
Beautifully bad ass dodged pro punches like the drunken master then knocked the opponent down with a single punch.
A scene out of Ippo
I’m sure it’s a great video but once the punch out screen said Bronx instead of Brooklyn, I tuned out. ;)
Heck yeah ❤
Love all the jokes in this one. Honestly, I don't even think you need to explain them; they all landed just fine (just like Tyson's gazelle hooks)
 for the "Punch-Out" cards :D
Outstanding thumbnail.
Got striked for Tyson footage, IMMEDIATELY releases 33 minutes of Tyson fights. We ain't scared of anybody bro 🔥
Awesome
*The staff at this channel need more exposure.*
I liked the jokier tone of this video, very enjoyable.
I love the puns.
And punches.
tyson punches got me acting unwise
could you do a style breakdown on chris "simply the best" eubank
Love your breakdowns. Just a heads up Tyson is from Brooklyn not Da Bronx.
Porbably would've skipped were it not for the Frank Frazetta-style thumbnall of *Tyson as Conan,* standing atop a pile of his defeated foes.
Love your uploads & breakdowns @The Modern Martial Artist
Gotta love the Punch Out setup
YES!
It is a shame that Tyson peaked in his early twenties, but his phenomenal activity meant that by the time of his first loss he already had an all-time-great resume. Spinks, Holmes, Tucker, Thomas, Smith, Berbick, Bruno plenty of champion-level guys and some notable contenders like Green,Jaco, Stewart, Frazier, Gibralta and such. People downplaying Mikes accomplishments have to say that his era was bad, which is really just a vibes based non-argument.
Honestly I never understood the downplay of him fighting fighters out of their prime, that's like saying Evander Holyfield's win against Foreman wasn't legit because he was 42 years old, or even Muhammad Ali's win over Liston wasn't legit because he was older than Cassius
I've seen compilations that included the knockout of Marvis Frazier. I didn't know that happened 30 seconds into round 1. Ouch.
oh man, strapping in for this one 🗿🗿🗿
Wasn’t Peter McNeeley right before Buster Mathis? I remember the Mathis fight being “free” because the McNeeley fight was stopped prematurely when the corner jumped in or something like that.
@13:00 The smaller man almost always has the advantage in a boxing clinch. If two men are approximately the same weight, the shorter guy always has more muscle mass and a big speed advantage. They don't have as far to extend to generate max power like lanky guys. It's at distance when taller guys have the advantage. You don't need as much speed because things happen slower and even though they don't have as much power, they have reach that lets them land from a distance. Tall kick boxers have a slight advantage in the clinch because they are allowed to cup heads and throw knees.
RIDE ON!!!
