Interesting and informative video I like your whole rebuild process. Now I see what you mean when you stress there's a lot that goes on with these engines.
Frank you ask great questions the test used on a 4 stroke is different its called a leak down test and only test the cylinder on a 4stroke engine the crankcase is vented so it will not hold pressure on a 2 stroke engine it needs a sealed crankcase to run because on a 2stroke engine it has transfer ports
@@2strokeguru thanks Kevin too completely different tests, i now understand as the 2 stroke must have a completely sealed cranks or it will run way to lean.
@@2strokeguru thanks Kevin, yes i see most people keep the incoming pressure rather low to avoid blowing the crank seals.my question basically is a pressure test the same as a vacuum test sucking in or blowing out both ways will show a leak . a pressure test will show air bubbles anywhere especially a 4 stroke with leaky valves.
@@frankdillon6127 I do the pressure test for the soap bubbles mostly and the vacuum test after so I don't suck in soap water not much pressure is required
Don’t know if I’m doing this right but. I’m restoring a 74/75 g5 and have learned a lot of great information from your videos! Keep it up
Another great informative video! You’re the man Kev. I’m pro Milwaukee too
Can't go wrong with milwaukee tools
Awesome video! perfect timing too, I just got my engine reassembled.
that's awesome this step is a must to insure engine is sealed

Nice work Kevin
Thank you
Kevin what do you use to block the intake on a rotary valve?
I saved different plugs from transmission radiators and what ever I can find
is this the same test as used to pressure test a 4 stroke? or is the 2 stroke different as in the vacuum pressure test. I.E. pressure vs vacuum.

Kevin any clue how much pressure a 2 stroke engine makes when its running?
Do you mean crankcase pressure

@@2strokeguru yeah, a leak is a leak whether its a vacuum or air bubbles usually not good. i got it thanks.
