Shout-out to Becky for being really good about explaining what her cards are doing instead of just playing a cards assuming th audience knows. As a newer magic player this helps soooo much.
I'm glad we get a second episode. I was under the impression you guys release once a month. I appreciate all your hard work and hopefully one day we can sit down a play a game
Joe and Lynch are looking for a fun game and trying to win fairly but some of the guests are combo cedh players who such the fun out of a game. Not David of course, he's delightful.
Despite the outcome, there's always a feeling in most episodes that Joe is just a little play away from winning. And of course, great episode! I love the fact that we get to see some game-ending combos in your show that many people might consider taboos. Ending the game like this does not mean that it was no fun.
Relatable with my Tergrid or Toralf deck. When it goes well...it goes WELL. When I'm heavily targeted...it's a bummer (and honestly rightfully so to the heavily targeted in the decks I made with those commanders lol).
It's true that gameplay-wise this show is the best, because it showcases real commander with sincerity. It's a love letter to the game itself really, without any other objectives.
"We have mistakes at I Hate Your Deck, [...] We make mistakes, it happens." I really appreciate you leaving this in the finished video, makes me feel better about all the mistakes I make. :P
It’s nice seeing Lynch just be happy to play the game. It reminds me that some edh play groups want you to check the spike mentality at the door and just have fun. Jo being salt with blue is funny but most of the time warranted..... 🤣 David got shut down before his engine started again and Beky was an awesome first time guest. Great episode guys keep up the grind
It'd be nice to see a battle of old school troll decks for an episode of I HATE YOUR DECK. We're talking like Urza's lands fueling a colorless grindstone/whetstone deck, thrashing wumpus + spirit link/curiosity/"whenever enchanted creature deals damage" shenanigans, your classic counterspell deck where you ask "what's it do?" nearly every time a player does anything since you can counter everything, land destruction, etc. etc. Maybe choose up to a certain old school block and anything prior to it is allowed, but no proxies still.
I really like the atmosphere to these videos and the games have a proper down to earth feel. Thanks for keeping the commanders different, the players this game were both great
This show really just is continually getting better over time. The guests are lovely, and it feels like you're just enjoying a casual game of Commander.
Great Video! With 2 mill decks and a wheel deck I was surprised people didn't get milled out sooner. I love your content and I love the banter! We need more lighthearted channels like this. ❤️
@@IHateYourDeck I know I've definitely been caught up in table talk while resolving a fetch search and grabbed the wrong land and none of my opponents caught it either because we were all chatting. As you say, mistakes are easy.
You guys are awesome! This is the one Magic channel, I never knew, I needed in my life. Admittedly, I basically never search for Magic content actively anymore, but after years of only watching the Command Zone and The Professor this is such genuine, authentic and top of all that, very positive vibed Magic content. Not saying Jimmy & Josh or The Prof are not doing an incredible job and obviously are truely in love with Magic - but here I could sense a genuine love for MtG right away from the start that is neither sugar-coated (starting with the hilarious channel name) nor staged or exaggerated. Plus you guys have a really good humour, which is unfortunately a rare thing to find in the competitive Magic scene, where everyone is just out to get those victories instead of having fun with the game. These CEDH decks seem like a great compromise between competitive and casual gaming for my taste. This inspired me to play some paper again after quite a long break, as I had a little Magic burn out from competitive grinding on MTG Arena. Long story short, you've got a new subscriber and looking forward to hopefully a lot more videos in the future. Keep up the great content and thanks for "reigniting my spark"..!
Love the pacing of this show! Even with production edits, the flow of the game and the banter stays so organic and engaging. Easily one of my favorite game shows atm.
I appreciate the chuckles about the play errors. We all make mistakes! Laughing at them and moving on is healthy and a great example for younger players watching.
Meanwhile, opposite of Mind Crank: "Whenever you gain life, put that many cards from the bottom of your graveyard onto the bottom of your library in a random order".
Deep respect for playing mill decks in multiplayer edh, that is a bold strategy. Thank you for the content and I appreciate the production level that you maintain while keeping it a bit unpolished. Every game of edh has human error as a component, and that is without half the table being in charge of making everyone else look good with lighting and such. Excellent work, and thank you again. Have you considered doing meta-strategy versus play? What I mean is pick a competitive version of 4 strategies and pit them against each other?
@@michaeldlynch What would be most balanced? Graveyard recursion, life gain, token creation, and red deck wins (that may be balanced but grave love may be the favored). Also respect for how you all respond to your audience.
I love David, he's so smooth and funny. You guys gotta have him more! Another thing that would be cool was showing the hands to the camera at the start of the game so we can see what you're paying with
TLDR; Can't wait to see how this plays out. Funny I had versions of these 4 decks, Rielle being the quickest to zero out(and the most hated of the four) Akiri voltron is fun, Anowon Rouge tribal actually turned in to Phenax big tough mill power. Phenax is a bold choice considering how quick so of the decks are that have been on so far that gave good showings(specifically not looking at Ur-Dragon).
Wached episode 1 ages ago, episode 3 yesterday, and episode 7 today. So many improvements in such a short time making the watch more accessible. Continue reading the cards for the audience and I'll continue tuning in! Good stuff. GG!
What I love about these videos is that they are fun and entertaining. You have a group of four individuals who jive well together but playing cEDH style decks in the most fun way possible. Is there possible salt? Sure, but who doesn't from time to time and its all in good fun. I can't help but notice that Lynch plays toxic shit like me, mill baby mill and torture style decks. But Joseph likes to play life gain decks a lot. But seeing different guests and seeing all the different decks and commanders is great. I played a similar match with Phenax as my opponent and I was playing Anowon. I ended up winning due to Phenax milling most of everyone and on the 1 on 1, I had enough damage with a ton of Nortoious Throng Boosted rogues to deal well over 40 damage but the opponent also had like 20ish cards in their deck lol So this video brought back a fond memory of a good match (shameless plug vid on my channel) Edit: David should have waited on activating brainstorm till either Bekys endstep or in case he had cards he wanted to recycle in case someone used a library reshuffle or wheel early on.
i just love this edh gameplay! i would love to see Magda, brazen outlaw and what you come up with her, maybe without the infinite treasure tokens (clock of omens).

Very fun episode! I have a Rielle deck myself, it is less focused on the combos (although it does have some) and more focused on self-milling to get Rielle's power high and then Flinging her at your opponents. A few Reverberates later and boom. I was surprised to see the Echo of Eons in there as I find it to be a nonbo with Rielle, is it there to specifically counter mill decks?
I absolutely love this show. If you guys are taking deck suggestions, I would love to see a Ruric Thar list get played. He's a 6 mana 6/6 hatebear from hell. I love to mix him in with a bunch of ramp and some nasty creatures to keep other decks in check and win in the combat step
I haven't seen the episode yet, but I have a prediction, just based on the decks. 2 mill decks AND 1 wheel deck!? Joe, please prove me wrong, and win this one, because it looks like you've got an uphill battle!
Ok, great deck idea: Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle using a cedh style loop build. Despite being mono white, it's easily one of the strongest decks I use, and the perfect spikey list to pop off on this show!
Quick note: Notion Thief is a static effect that affects all players at all times. Any draw an opponent takes beyond the one for their turn is stolen. This is NOT a MAY so it is important to keep track of the board state because it is possible to mill out a Notion Thief opponent with cards such as Consecrated Sphinx by infinitely drawing them out of the game.

29:00 Echo of Eons won’t be put into your graveyard until after it’s finished resolving, which means it won’t be shuffled into your library as part of its own effect.
it was also cast with flashback, which means it would be exiled regardless. Lynch should have countered it, deal or not. If you have a narset into a wheel, all deals are off at that point
Really love the show guys. Great sense of humor. And I can see why Joe dislikes blue yikes - 2 episodes of infinite blue combos followed by Narset and free counterspell and curiosity. Getting countered twice by freebies is a bummer.
