    Epi 5 was mind blowing and the best episode of the series. That Banraku puppet show was a fabulous way to tell her past story. She was the bride, the Ronin and the Onryo. That was amazing!

      she’s also the innocent child, raised by an opium-addict, then orphaned to be taken in by Swordfather, whom she accepted yes as a surrogate parent but also as a kind of agent to foster her vengeance
      Innocence sacrificed to her vendetta

    Let's be fair. No one is ever Ready for episode 5.
    Its her John Wick moment. The moment, Mizu never knew she needed, stolen from her.

      So sad, but gives us such conviction to the Mizu character

    These are so fun! Thanks for watching! I was a character designer on the show. We did alter her model very subtly throughout her arc with mikio. We purposely made her feminine kimonos too short to make her feel more awkward in this role. And as their romance progressed we removed the tired lines around her eyes and added more color to her face. All that comes back after her betrayal! Excited to hear what you think with the rest of the episodes!

      Congratulations for your part in this wonderful series!
      If you partake in the sequel, can you avoid the continuity mistakes between episodes (presumably done by separate teams)? e.g. at the end of ep6 she has only one shard of her sword, but all of it in ep7.

    •  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also, she is wounded on her left side in ep1, but only her wound in ep2 seems worth a patch to her clothes.

    I personally think Mizu's husband's reaction was less about her being better than him and more about how she held a sharp sword to his neck and seemed to really be enjoying a fight with deadly weapons. But I guess it could have also been his pride being a bit wounded from being bested by a woman, or a mix of both. He seemed kinder and more open minded than most men in this show, but he'd still be shaped by the era he grew up in and the believes widely held.

    Mizu was pretending to be something that she was not. She acted like she knew nothing about knives. Fun fact, her mark was on that knife. She was a tigress pretending to be a kitty cat curled up by the fire. Dont get me wrong. If dude dude bro was man enough, he would have had a bad bitch as a wife. He got to rub an apex predators' soft underbelly

      @@ccam7802It wasn't even murderous at the point since it came later on. It was just that she was a much better swordsman than he was.

    You might like this... I've known about this for years being a huge fan of Japanese film and Ghost Stories. And I quote;
    Onryō are often depicted as wronged women, who are traumatized, envied, disappointed, bitter, or just furious by what happened during life and exact revenge in death. These kinds of ghosts appear extremely vengeful, ruthless, heartless, brutal, cruel, deranged, egotistical, selfish, bloodthirsty, and cold-hearted.

    It wasn't that Mizu was really good, it's that she was bloodthirsty....he realized he was looking into the darkness that Akemi talked about at the end. How would you react if you realized your spouse was happiest when they are about to murder you? That they might be a psychopath? It is much deeper than his wife is better with a sword. Also, Mizu is the samurai, the bride and the onryo...it's a story of her internal struggle.

      I kind of agree with your take, that he was genuinely afraid, but I'm not sure, I'd call it "deep". The "turns out the psycho killer instinct was inside her all along"-angle is not really either new nor particularly complex.

    • @theDaoistBean
      @theDaoistBean 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes, thank you @So_Oneal, it is refreshing to see someone actually read and understand the whole comment. To all those who need further clarification, the deeper comment was directed to the women doing the video who focused on the hurt pride of the husband and seemed to miss that there was more to his reaction, a reaction that was echoed and reinforced verbally by Akemi's observation at the end. As for the husband's reaction being deep, I don't think it was at all, it was instinctual, he felt the darkness and it scared him, like reacting to a loud or vicious bark and he ran. And I don't think this was some revelation that there is a 'demon' inside her, that has been obvious from the first episode, this episode just made it clear to those not fully paying attention, and it sets up a turning point where Mizu will need to deal with this darkness and decide if she wants to continue this way or change. As for new...there is nothing new that hasn't been explored in thousands of years of storytelling, it's just how we piece all these bits together that makes something unique.

      Absolutely not. It was his pride.

    • @Ashbrash1998
      @Ashbrash1998 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't think it was the darkness per se, because if anything it was still.tied to her sword mastery. Which he didn't know about and even after a minute he went full throttle against her without a care. And later on he did come back and try to talk to her after she killed several people. I think he was fine until she defeated him and his honor and pride was damaged (whichcalready was a sore subject for him anyway). I think he was fine teaching her non womanly skills as long as he was teaching her or better than she was. Like with the horse or the dagger throw but something very much tied to his Ronin status was sensitive
