Chex Mix Recipe
10 cups Rice Chex
10 Cups Corn Chex
2 cups Wheat Chex
2 cups pretzel sticks
3 cups Cheerios
1 cup margerine
1 tsp celery salt
1 tsp onion salt
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp seasoned salt
3 TBLS worcestershire sauce
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Assemble cereal/ pretzel mix in large roasting pan.
Melt margerine and add seasonings. Stir until salts are dissolved well. Sprinkle/pour sauce over cereal mixture while stirring carefully so as to not break up the cereal.
Bake 30 minutes, remove and stir. Bake another 30 minutes.
Remove, stir, let cool. Enjoy!

Ok, a few thoughts. I love that you have both a Keurig and a Nespresso on your kitchen counter! You can enjoy the best of both! As for the Chex mix, there’s no added sugar, so healthier for some people! Then there’s Gracie. So adorable! I need to know what breed she is, please! Happy Fall!🍁
Hello Anne! Gracie is a Maltipoo. (Maltese/Poodle) We all have pretty rough allergies here and Maltipoos do not cause a problem for us at all! She is super smart, loves everyone, great with kids and other pets, doesn't shed at all....and downright adorable! Happy Fall to you 🍁
I enjoyed our chat! 😉 I haven’t put out any fall decor yet. We are getting new living room furniture so I am sort of waiting…. But furniture was ordered in June and we don’t have it yet so…. My husband makes Chex mix at Christmas time. Only he makes close to 15 batches! We give tons and tons of it away. He also adds pecan halves and cashews. Born and raised on the northwest side of Chicago. Da Bears are my favorite team along with the Cubs, Black Hawks and the Bulls. I have been away from Chicago since the 80s and miss running along the lakefront and pizza.
The 80's were the best time for Da Bears!! Such a fun time to be a fan. 🏈

My grandparents had a bird do that for YEARS!! Prob until it died. Always the same window though. Back to the video :)

I'm starting to hope my bird is elderly and doesn't have many years left in him. LOL
We had a grey bird doing that to our front window for days it would get tired and go around the back too ,I have a little art studio out the back ,A cardinal would swing on a branch and hit the window non stop so annoying ,

Hi Jennifer. I love watching people make coffee! I had birds try and fly into a window and I put an old cd disc on the window. It seemed to have done the trick. I believe you can purchase something specific for this also, but I don't have the name. Poor bird. When I was a little girl my grandfather would say when you see a red bird that means snow (he must have said this during the winter months). Others say it is a family member (or someone close to you) that has passed. Saying hello ....

Love your vlog videos! Happy autumn! Seems to me that the cardinal might be seeing either it's own reflection (as a rival it wants to chase away) or it sees the reflection of the trees/bushes and wants to go to them. Cardinals aren't know for their intellect.
I tried to explain that to him went I went out there to have a talk with him....but he is hardheaded and would not listen to reason. LOL
Have you considered speaking to a vet about the bird? Birds are highly intelligent creatures and there will be a reason for it. I have a family of magpies who live in our front garden. I put fresh water out for them and when it runs out or gets too dirty one of them knocks on my loungeroom window to tell me to refresh it. When I was a child my Dad rescued an injured sparrow (we called him Mr Sparrit) in the backyard. The vet bandaged him up and we were able to release him back into the wild after 6 weeks. For a long time after that he would knock on the kitchen window every few days, come in and play with us and then fly off again. I wonder if your bird was once a pet? If so there may be wanted posters for him at the local vets surgeries. I saw one at my vet’s once that read, “Founy. Budgie with yellow and green feathers. Says his is Bruce.”

That bird is crazy! Cardinals are the state bird here in Kentucky and they are all around and I've never had one repeatedly fly into the windows! Keep us posted if you find out what's going on. September 1 is my fall decor day each year and I have the same months as you do for seasons. The Chex mix is one of my favorite treats. Yes, with football especially. Loved your clip at the end. TFS
Well, apparently the cardinals in Kentucky are much smarter and more well behaved than the crazy variety we have in Illinois! Lol! Maybe I should send our bird down there for some lessons in manners and southern hospitality! It sounds like you and I are very similar in our Fall experiences! xo 🍁🍂
I went to the flea market a few years ago with girlfriends. It was fun to walk around! We go to Purdue homecoming every year. 🏈
Walking around the flea market made me have all sorts of visions of myself restoring some pieces of furniture.... and then I realized that was never going to happen...lol.! It was fun to look around, though! Boiler UP! 🏈

Loved Gracie’s artwork! My sister had the same cardinal experience & always thought the bird could see it’s reflection & was trying to attack the “other bird”. Who knows? I make my party mix the same but add peanuts. Now I want some! 🤣😂
My mom always added mixed nuts to the recipe, but my family prefers it without. I like it both ways!!

I always love watching your videos. I was thinking of my changing my long kitchen nook table to a round one because next year there will just be 3 of us in the house and then I noticed your round nook table!! Those chairs look to comfy. I can't wait to see what you cook this fall.

OMG! We have a similar crazy cardinal situation! Ours likes to hurl himself against the kick plate on our front door. He did it for two months straight last Spring and then returned this Spring. We tried to outsmart him and removed the kick plate, but he hurled himself against the window next to the front door instead. Also caught him attacking my son's brand new car in the driveway (left little tiny beak marks on the car). He has a wife and a nest nearby, so I think he is protecting the perimeter around nest. I am very superstitious and I also went crazy looking up all the possible meanings, but I've concluded that he's just attacking his reflection. At least I hope that's it! Haha
We had a "kick plate attack bird" in our previous house, and the same thing happened. We smeared it with rubbing compound to dull the shine and the bird just moved on to another window. Then he went around back and found the sunroom and then the real fun began! Yikes! I'm looking forward to winter when he'll have to snuggle down into a nest or fly away somewhere warmer! I looked into all the meanings too, and with my parents' current situation I was concerned. But, when my neighbors said the bird was attacking their windows too, I felt better about the "someone is going to pass away" superstition.

Yeah, I had a cardinal do that too. I think it's late in the season for mating but maybe trying to peck another male "bird"? 😁
I just Googled this and it says the bird sees its reflection in the glass and thinks it's another bird and pecks to chase away the "intruder." Maybe you just have very clean windows. lol
Club together and hire one of those falcon handlers, it might eat it! By the way, hows your daughter's long covid? The clinic Buchinger Wilhelmi (medical and on you tube) did a small fasting study on 6 patiemts with long covid and it gave them some relief from their symptoms, long term.

Oh, no! So sorry to hear about the bird but I must admit it gave me a chuckle and made me think of the bird that wouldn't stop chirping in that movie, "Failure to Launch" - LOL. Hopefully your bird finds a new favorite spot!
Lol! Well, we are supposed to have a very cold winter here this year...so my bird will have to find a warm nest and he will most likely leave us alone for awhile ....hopefully!!

The male cardinal is defending it’s nesting territory during mating season. He sees the reflection of what he perceives as a rival. May-August.

@@JustJennifer there is a solution but you might not like it. You have to cover the window with a translucent plastic so you can still get light but it is not reflective. Otherwise...isn’t he cute?
I would love to see cardinals again, moved from midwest to pacific northwest in my late teens.But you left out whether your pumpkin has survived another fall season?And if so you have some magic pumpkin seeds,lol.🎃Gracie needs her own channel she is pure delight.Love your videos,thank you for sharing.

Jennifer, your home is So Beautiful!! And what a mystery with the bird. So bizarre behavior.
Here in Phoenix, we had a bird do that every morning at 5 am~ugh! We researched a lot and finally had to crawl up on roof over the the high windows and put out these spike thingies from Home Depot. It will not harm them and they will stop, if you are not getting annoyed etc then not necessary ha!

We had the same issue here. I was told to hang something that reflects and catches the sun like old cd’s. It worked instantly. 😉
My persistent bird would just go to another window, and then another...etc. I will try it, though! Thanks 😘

The funny thing is that Gracie used to growl at the bird, but has now accepted her new bird friend as part of the family and ignores the constant pecking and banging.
