I live in Gwalior and it is crazy how much power these sand miners have. Cops wouldn't dare stop them. Go to any toll plaza between 4-6 in the morning and you will see. I do not know much about Yamuna sand mining but it is rampant in Chambal and Sind rivers in MP.

The concept of the smart cities that we have today is really disaster but the problem is everyone of us can't think about this when we go to buy a flat , it's really sad

Sorry to hear. Greed is an issue. Sand mining is an issue. Yamuna is one of the most foul and polluted rivers in the world. Human waste, Dead bodies, Industrial waste. That is why it is jet Black. It is putrid.

This mining mafia isn't going anywhere soon. A
special Army anti mining unit equipped with state of the art drones is needed now.
Last year, a mining officer in my city was thrashed mercilessly by this mafia, who were armed with machetes, swords, axes and rods. The poor guy was left for dead but luckily he survived and was taken to hospital by villagers. 8 months he was in coma. He recovered but has lost most of his memory.

I hope a day comes where Yamuna takes matters in her own hands and washes away all the JCB's , the chutia Land mafias and their families with it

Thank you Sir. Please note that no state in India can match with Andhra Pradesh in misusing sand mining. It is a well known fact .

If we use sand in mud architecture, it is not the problem. But mixing with cement makes it a landfill material waste which can not be used again. But, with mud architecture, it can be used again and again. Dismantle buildings, use the materials again.

    Problem is,
Indian Civil Works need Sand to mix with concrete
    1. Now if it was researched to mix concrete with plasic based chemical then Mmany of plastics would be used in Mixing machine, but NO.
    2. Many of rivers pan are only with stones and shallow in these rivers if Mining of stone allowed to let the pan be deep to 200 feet at each 2km. Stretch then 500 mtr gap then again same deep stretch, then Many rivers could be prevented with flooding and Huge amount of water could be saved in this man made river pan deep stretches, but NO.
    3. Many rivers are considered as breeding of fishes and on the base River sand removal are not allowed, BUT JUST THINK ARE THESE RIVER WATERS ARE AS IT IS QUALITY AFTER RAIN OR IN DRINKABLE CONDITIONS DIRECTLY FROM RIVER, NO AND NEVER AS NO CONTROL AT VILLAGE LEVEL TILL CITY LEVEL FOR RIVER POLLUTION PREVENTION.
So best is if they can remove the pan sand and let the stones be left at pan then also river water could reach to ground depth for farming lands, Also if stones could be removed then more depth of river bed or pan could be made. NO RIVER WITH CITY OR HUMAN POLLUTION CAN CREATE NATURAL RESOURCE FOR LIVING BEING FROM AMOEBA TILL MAMMAL.

The bigger issue than sand being mined is. That for what purpose it is being used. If we construct and combine sand with mud/lime architecture , then it can be used infinitely.
But, if used for cement/ concrete construction, it becomes a material for landfills . Can not be reused and such a resource is wasted in large quantities.
If used in natural construction, it will not be wasted, and we can dismantle buildings and use the same material again. And will need less mining of it at the root cayse of it.
    Read again. Think about it.

I was going on DND and thinking that govt must be happy killing this river as it gave them so much of previously unused land. You can see sec 94 highrises literally being built on river. Yamuna and its pollutants leaching into groundwater and reaching us causing cancer and infertility is another disaster that are yet to catch our imagination on mass scale. When you see so many excavators working on a river, you know what is going on. Environment is needed to be topmost priority of a burgeoning metropolis and if not we will soon be turning into wasteland and you will not have people rushing up to buy flats in Noida or anywhere and then I dont think you will need to dig sand anymore. Nature will come back at you. Wait for it.
At 13 50 there are some wisest words where he says that ecology and economy needs to go hand in hand.

Can sand be filtered by de-silting the rivers/lakes? If yes, should be focused around it even if sand yield is lesser. De-silting anyhow is good for fluvial systems. Isn't it ?

Get into the situation then suffer then have guts to say this in reality to that people face then comment here...
It’s there land from there inheritance where would they farm them? They already don’t get right money from the fruits or vegetables they sell..so don’t expect they can buy another land in some good areas...it’s a big process
