Thank you! I could see this being built in to a work table or a desk. Truth is, it's probably not as practical as one you could buy...but where's the fun in that?!?!
Awesome video, I was totally thinking of making a sharpener for my shop and was rattling around ideas in my head this week. I really like how yours works! 👍
Thank you, Grant! If you do decide to make one let me know what sort of upgrades you go with. I know for certain that I am going to add a little more reinforcement up at the tip of the pencil. There's a bit of give there if I press too hard and it can break the tip of the pencil if I'm not careful.
Just supporting a fellow fledgling TH-camr and woodworker! Came from ChrisToFix's shout out of your comment. Look forward to watching your prior videos and anything else you put out in the future
Thank you so much for the support. I'll head right over and check out your channel. Chris is really doing some nice things for the smaller maker channels!
Thank you so much, it has held up pretty well. I think I might make another with a couple of modifications in the future, but for now this does a good job.
Sir I've got inspired by your work now I can sharpen my pencil really sharp.... I didn't did exactly what you made ... I only use few simple materials... But still I want to thank you... Bc you inspired me to make amazing things ... That will help me a lot... 😊😊😊
Crismine...I am very honored by your kind words. I have been inspired by so many great craftsmen and women...it is nice to inspire others. This is a great community!
Hello, Yogi. Sadly, the pencil sharpener does not work with very short pencils. I think I made the angle too shallow on this one. That makes the lead susceptible to breaking if I'm not careful and means that the pencil cannot be too short. If I make another one I will try to make the angle a little steeper.
@@StanCrafted I thought it would be good to make something similar so the blade is underneath and static with a sliding pen tray / holder on the top. The pencil can be adjusted to shave at any length. The angle is not so critical for pencils but for instrument pegs needs to have a 1:30 taper or at least match the reamer being used. I love your initial idea and I'm sure this could work out really well 😊 ॐ
@@TheWoodYogi A static blade may just be the ticket, I may play around with this idea more later, but it seems I've a dozen projects stacked up already :-) One of the reasons that I made this one was to see if it would work so I could add it as a permanent feature in a workbench. Thought it would be kind of nice to have one always at hand that way. If you decide to make something similar please be sure to shoot video. I have you on subscription and notification so I'll be sure to see it if you do.
@@StanCrafted I also have so much work on and not much play time 😂 I will be making the toy for my son though. I just need to find large rubber bands. The last time I tried I had no luck and even the ones I ordered from ebay never got here, but I might give some bungee cord a go later 😊 ॐ
What a creative project and well thought out design! I'm in for the journey! Subscribed!

Great design, I was wondering all way through how it was going to work, I didn't expect a sliding plane blade, well done Sir
Thank you, John...that was a fun project. I wouldn't mind making another someday and seeing if I can improve on it a bit.
How's she goin'? Pretty fancy pencil sharpener!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks Grampie! A fella ought to have at least a couple of fancy things :-)

I love the name you chose for this video! “Stancrafted”! Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks so much! Gotta have a little fun now and again :-)
Cool idea!
Thank you very much. You are one of my TH-cam favorites, this is quite an honor.
Stan, that's a great little machine 👍
Thank you, Sparky! It was a fun little build. I hope to incorporate something like it in my next worktable build.
Looking forward to see what you come up with 👍
Interesting build, and was enjoyable to watch.
Thanks, Lucas! Kind of a fun project to tinker around with.
2:29 that is what I call a good shot
Thank you, Irish. I got pretty lucky there!
Put it down to experience, Stan
what a amazing pencil sharpener!

I like the idea Stan 😊 How does it work as the pencil gets shorter? It could work as a peg maker for violin tuners 😊 ॐ

@@TheWoodYogi I got the rubber band material I used over at sciencetoymaker.org It was pretty inexpensive and you get a lot of it.
