Non demon lu bu was definitely the hardest boss in the game. I died way more times to him than any of the main bosses. Even demon form was a lot easier
@@Blinker485 Yeah, I got nervous because I still had a lot of missions after this, and I thought the difficulty would continue to gradually rise after Lu Bu. Sadly, I was disappointed about that.
gotta say, the "Obligatory Duo Boss" (yan liang and wen chou) revive mechanic can only make me think "wow, why couldnt from soft do this for godskin duo, it looks so much more enjoyable"
You mean when they come back but with less HP? Then they’d need to make both bosses have separate hp bars(godskin duo shares 1) or they’d need to revive but remove hp from their own hp bar. It’d make the boss a lot easier, and less annoying in both forms.
Lu Bu's first fight has been considered the hardest boss in the game by many and I have to agree. He's also my favorite boss in the game and compared to Nioh 2's boss quality I would say he's on par compared to some of the best from that game. Since there is going to be dlc for this game at some point I wonder if you'll return to rerank the bosses with dlc at some point. Hopefully team ninja will learn from some of the criticisms and make the dlc good.
I guess people just are overly aggressive to attack him and thats why they die, I found him to be the fairest fight in the game and the most enjoyable, but all of his attacks are really easy to deflect so it did only take me a few tries to kill him, the clone boss and Aoye took my atleast 15 times each to kill because they just feel donwright unfair, I mean Aoye insra dashes towards you the second you enter the arena
they should make an expansion instead of a DLC, and sell just one package, I did not buy the ones on Strangers on Paradise since Bahamut looks awesome but the others are lame, maybe not the last one that much, but just one expansion would be better.
Never played Nioh 2 but I fought it was a bit harder than Wo Long but I guess not. Lu Bu was not the hardest for me at all, he has power and basically nothing else above other hard bosses in the game.
I loved this game but man I found it COMICALLY easy (compared to Nioh and Fromsoft Souls games) but from what I've been noticing, it's because I used a Staff and the lightning buff, and all my gear was buffing lightning damage. Most bosses were at under 60% health before I even got to see a red attack from the absurd damage and free stuns the lightning buff gave me.
Lu Bu really was THAT guy. His and Zhang Liang's fights felt annoying at the start. But as I went on and learned the rhythm I forgot about depleting their HP and instead focused on dancing with them. Overall the game really shines when it throws the human bosses at you. Except Clone Guy. Aoye was by far the most annoying boss. I was glad to be done with that fight. Then there was a late game section where I randomly jumped into an area with an optional Aoye fight. Just as annoying as when you fight him the first time. Screw that furry demon bull.
I have the very same thought on LB and his lighting lieutenant. And yea, Aoye is just that uber annoying boss, except that I murdered the 2nd one quite effortlessly (that arena was very sus, kinda reminded me of the 1st ulcerated tree spirit at the bottom of storm veil in elden ring, so yeah, I built up my morale to 25 before diving in there lol)
Zhuyan was actually the most infuriating boss in the game for me but not on its own merits. I hadnt realized that equipment weight could stop you from being able to deflect so I spent a good hour or so getting one shot and getting more and more pissed off, thinking he was busted or something until I finally looked up what was going on
I didn't realize armor upgrades were a thing until just before Lu Bu, and I didn't know how to upgrade my healing flask until Zhang Rang. I got quite frustrated that basic enemies were one shotting me until I realized how much harder I was making the game for myself.
I'm glad you got around to making this, was an enjoyable watch even though I disagreed with many placements lol. For example, Zhang Liao (static shock) was one of the hardest bosses for me due to his overwhelming speed and damage, but was definitely my favorite. It was soooo satisfying keeping up with his superhuman pace and deflecting nearly everything he did. I haven't seen anyone else have this take but I thought I would share. :)

When I started this video I literally said if Aoye wasn't in top 5 I would be highly upset. Glad we all suffered on that boss, and I was not prepared to see him again near the endgame.
I know right. I can’t believe people are saying that was hard. I struggled more with it the second time but even then it wasn’t bad. The first was a cakewalk though.
Such a coincidence to see this video just as i'm about to finish the last fight! Great video, normally your videos on boss difficulty correlates with my experiences, such as Malenia, Demon of Hatred and Sigrun topping their respective lists, but Wo Long was so over the place. Liu Bei was the hardest boss for me by a decent margin with Lu Bu being second, i only missed one marking flag and i got decimated. I completely agree on Lu Bu being the best.
Demon of hatred is bs, Malenia, well I haven't reach out to that part, and Lu Bu is a great boss, Kamaitachi cifra, Magara Naotaka and Kasha and Nyotengu, I liked Ren also but the guy is a pain in the arse from Nioh.
@@dontbothertoreply9755 Good luck on Malenia if you're planning to face her without summons, no fromsoft boss is even close when it comes to her difficulty imo, easily the hardest boss i've ever fought. Wo long's combat is way more satisfying than sekiro's, and this is coming from a guy who has played sekiro 37 times. But sekiros deflection sound is better

There's two things that help alot against tough bosses: finding out what element they are weak against and leveling up Zhang Fei to level 10 asap. All living humans are weak against poison. So that's an easy one. Zhang Fei's spear plus a Power Up jewel and his outfilt quickly builds up a status effect that interrupts many enemy hits. You plus a Zhang Fei and Guan Yu at level 5 oath can force Lu Bu into a corner and just wail on him non-step. Equip the Mega Creature spell that adds ice to weapons. Just destroys Lu Bu
Question that probably shouldn't be asked in the comment section of this video: Why is it that, when Chinese is converted to the English alphabet, the spellings almost never match up with how the words are actually pronounced? When Japanese is translated to the alphabet, words sound mostly how they're spelled, i.e. "Domo Arigato" _sounds_ like "doe-moe-ah-ree-gah-toe." But that's not always the case with Mandarin, and I've never understood why. If the name "Zhuge Liang" is actually pronounced "Joo-guh Lee-ahng," why is it not translated in a more phonetically correct way? The only other languages I've ever seen do this are the Celtic ones from Ireland and Wales and such (seriously, _how_ is the name "Siobhan" supposed to be pronounced "Shuh-vawn!?"), and I'd really like to know why this is.
I don't think Lu Bu was that hard, tbh, a fair share of those below him in the list felt harder. The main challenge during his encounter was the absurd amount of graphic bugs in the level, including the "pixel bleed" turning my whole screen white. Though I do have to agree that, on the rare occasions that I was allowed to fight him without hiccups, it was certainly the most enjoyable fight in the game.
New DLC Bosses Xu Chu, General of Heaven Illusion and Demonised Dian Wei are new formidable challenge. Almost everyday will have request from random players to help complete those missions
Lu Bu, Zhang Rang, Zhang Liang is definitely the hardest for me. They are harder on NG+. I love this game. Zhang Liang was hard before patch 1.05. I was so thankful because when you fight Lu Bu you know your able to beat him.
I have yet to play this game fully, I did beat the tutorial but that's it. It's awesome to see Lu Bu being the hardest boss in this game because I'm a big Dynasty Warriors fan and he is by far the hardest enemy to beat when you come across him. Most likely the second map you play, he's there and you just started playing the game lol I think he got a little bit easier over the past few games but he's still a beast! So it's great they kept that for Lu Bu!
One word. A..O..Y...YEEEEEEEE! Fighting this tormenting beast in the last bonus mission as you are Morale 13 against his 20, making any red attack a one shot an absolute nightmare to get through. This boss gave me mental scars that are sure to never fully heal.
Number 3 was a huge surprise for me, ngl. I'm terrible at this game, no joke. So I'm definitely not implying that I'm better than you at it. But these multiple bosses were absolutely easy mode. I think it's related to my build. I'm using a double sword that has a martial arts movement that goes slightly to the side and dashes in a circular move towards the target in a fair distance strike (edit: beckoning pine). I've abused this like... I've spammed this throughout the whole fight because I was moving non-stop and avoiding 90% of the bullshit that all of them were throwing at me. It was one combo and then there was the staggered clone. On the third try, I realized that the spirit bar thing is shared between these clones and the master boss, so I could stagger a clone, ignore the critical hit, and use the already depleted bar of the boss to score a critical hit on the boss. I didn't heal once and destroyed the boss on the first try. I'm not lying when I say I'm horrible at this game. I think it was just luck to have a busted counter-build to this thing.
Gear system? Check. Various and upgreadable weapons? Check.Ability to use various magic attacks? Check. Its closer to Onimusha games rather than Sekiro.
its honestly suprising how different weapons and strategies make bosses so much harder or easier. ive watched most of your Soulslike videos. and i usually agree fairly close to them, but this one was almost backwards.
There’s no way you put Yu Ji that low and Aoye that high. That is wild. I also struggled quite a lot with Taotie since the red projectiles it’d send out were so hard to see and the second phase was quite difficult to deflect.
I think the other great thing about Lu Bu's difficulty step up is he's the first person that combos critical hits, even if you parry them. It was a real shock to parry a critical hit, start to launch an assault, only for him to bitchslap me with a "I wasn't done yet"
Actually, Man Mode will chain his reds once you get him to half health, as will a few of the base enemies like the hedgehogs with their spin dash attacks.
I agree with the easiest boss. My character is Wood Attribute, and by that point I was abusing the crap out of the massive Lightning spell at the end of the skill tree. Suffice to say, the figurative and literal turtling boss went down SO hard and easy to a few repeat casts of this massive aoe spell.
I've been so eager for the RE4 remake boss ranking that I hit this link quicker than a Fountain Head Palace lightning bolt. Never read the caption and honestly thought I clicked on the wrong link lol, but love to see new games come through! Look forward to checking this one out 😁
@@theDeModcracy also, remember the names of some of the bosses, the last ranking made some poeple "triggered" because you didn't know Verdugo and Garrador.
Aoye can easily be taken down with two metal spells Venom Snare and Life Wither. It sure to die quickly with a few select deflects and attacks. Just make the spells are up after fatal attacks. I discovered on the high difficulty mode
I really enjoyed this game. You can parry almost anything. There was a learning curve for sure, and I skipped every cut scene in game, but did 2 full playthroughs. I loved the combat the whole time! I can't wait for dlc
Agree with this list except #3 Zhand Rang- any faster weapons, like duel swords just easily stun locks the adds and this fight becomes super easy. go back and LolGuding blade this and realize that this fight is actually on the easier end.
The only thing i dont like so far is that it feels like there is a boss fight every 2 feet. The boss fights are really good once you get the mechanics down... and let your commards do most of the heavy lifting 👀..
How can you possibly say in good faith that the last dragon boss is EASIER than like let’s say the monkey, or the pig, or like any of the other easy bosses. Like it’s not all that hard but third easiest? That just doesn’t really make sense
As someone who's decent on deflecting, I'm loving Wo Long bosses. Lu Bu is the hardest and best boss. The first boss is the second hardest, it's bonkers he is supposed to be the tutorial boss.
This is one of those comes where i finish it , i manage to beat a lot of bosses first try , even the harder 1 yet even by the end i still had no idea wtf is was doing or if i was even good at the game
The first Lu Bu fight is up there with Sigrun and Isshin the Sword Saint in terms of difficulty, combat, visual design, and soundtrack; a truly perfect boss fight in this game.
Funny how most of your mid and high tier bosses gave me little to no difficulty at all, but Taotie and Yu Ji's 2nd phase kicked my ass so many times. But yeah, Aoye and Lu Bu also kicked my ass and took some time to beat.
I'd say Lu Bu was the real Geni like skill check that will force you to know what you're doing, and truly undeniably the best and hardest boss. It was fighting him I learned how the blue bar worked. And anyone who's played any Koei warriors game ever would expect nothing less of him. "Zapdos" was the cheapest, least enjoyable and most deserving of cheese.
I'm rather glad that Aoye is ranked quite high in here, because it's where I was stuck at before my holiday 😂. Looking forward to beating it when I get back.
Hardest boss besides Lu Bu? Dian Wei's Demon form in DLC1 Flies around like Dragon Liu Bei along with Yan Liang(Sand Demon Guy) speed and range with both lightning and tornadoes coupled with his 1/2 hit killmoves and sweeping spin attacks that made Link from LoZ Jealous
zhang rang was easily the favorite of any multi boss ive ever fought. i was honestly kinda upset when i beat him my first try. having the posture reduction bar being shared by all clones and even the real boss allows for some real shenanigans (just like the root blocked flag enemies). just spirt attack the clones when possible and keep track of the real one at all times and dive him every time his posture bar gets small enough. most his ranged attacks were surprisingly easy to dodge (just engage in doom tactics and never stop moving), everything else was interesting. aoye was fiery hot garbage though... just boring, annoyance incarnate and hes in missions 5 times ,3 (i think) of which are required in the main path. even a post main mission where if you lose even once you have to fight him at a 3 morale disadvantage... patience beyond time and space is required
All the elemental bosses save for the fire one do a absurd amount of damage and are so fast that deflecting then feels like spamming circle. I’d put both of the lightning ones in the top 3. Lu Bu was definitely the hardest and best boss in the game though.
I personally loved the bosses as a whole, and while I was by no means a deflection god, I will admit I had an easier time with it. I'm really sorry if this comes off as condescending, but I do think you were playing the game at least a little bit wrong. The important thing to remember is that your spirit attacks not only damage the bosses' spirit, but DECREASE their Spirit Meter as well, making it easier to reach the riposte threshold. It incentivizes getting the deflections down for regular attacks (to build up your own spirit), and is what allowed me to have a battle of attrition against Aoye without feeling like it overstayed its welcome, especially noteworthy considering I was deliberately using a somewhat underleveled weapon. Otherwise, Lu Bu was the hardest boss for me too, but also one of the best I've faced this decade. Sorry if this is a bit presumptuous, but I hope you'll take into consideration a few video ideas. I'll be happy with whatever you release, regardless, but these might be interesting topics: -Top 10 Underrated and/or Overrated Games (or Top 5 Underrated and Overrated in a single video) -Community Ranked Soulsborne Games (the old Best and Worst system could be cool, though reducing the amount of extra points added and retracted would be wise) -What Makes a Good Combat System? essay
Wo Long's melee combat is AWESOME against human enemies. The battles against the huge demon bosses sucks because the hit boxes SUCK. Lu Bu and Red Hare is the best fight and it's not even close.
I find Clobber Cat pretty easy considering a boss can be easily distracted by your allies I use them for distracting bosses but without them I find the battle a little harder but still easy
As someone that parried almost every single hit in the game, even when bosses used magic I have to disagree with most of the rankings other than the tutorial boss and the #2 and #1. It's funny to see how much of a difference it makes going for parries and melee only instead of like you relying way more on magic and blocking
I actually enjoyed most the bosses in this game despite the criticisms. Here’s hoping the sequel Wo Longer gets a bit more success

New DLC Bosses Xu Chu, General of Heaven Illusion and Demonised Dian Wei are new formidable challenge. Almost everyday will have request from random players to help complete those missions
You gotta admit, the boss designers are phenomenal
Have you played the same game? With half the bosses you don't evens see their attacks
Lu Bu, Zhang Rang, Zhang Liang is definitely the hardest for me. They are harder on NG+.
I love this game.
Zhang Liang was hard before patch 1.05. I was so thankful because when you fight Lu Bu you know your able to beat him.
Nice to see you are still with us
As for the "Guy before Lu Bu" you can hit him from distance with a flaming ballista arrow significantly lowering his health bar.
Aoye singlehandedly forced me to learnt abusing elements and their ailments.
Apart from difficulty, Zhang Liao is my favourite boss in Wo Long.
For a split second I was like “did the wukong game come out?”
Your sense of humor and wits with words makes your mumbling enjoyable.
This is what I love about gaming. Everybody is different. What your top 5 hardest were. Were actually my top 5 easiest.
I forgot this game existed
"discount Sekiro" is one of the best ways to describe this game
more like Sekiro wannabe that misses the mark.
Its not even close to Sekiro even with the deflecting
Gear system? Check. Various and upgreadable weapons? Check.Ability to use various magic attacks? Check. Its closer to Onimusha games rather than Sekiro.
I am currently stuck on Lu Bu and this makes me feel a lot better
Lore-wise it makes perfect sense that Lu Bu is the hardest boss
He is the most warrioring Dynasty Warrior of all the 3 kingdoms.
Can anybody provide me with a decent challenge?
@@thewarhamster8139 warrioring. Love it
Not the hardest boss for me by a long shot.
its honestly suprising how different weapons and strategies make bosses so much harder or easier. ive watched most of your Soulslike videos. and i usually agree fairly close to them, but this one was almost backwards.
The larger hedgehog enemies were the first one to do that.
Its SUUUPER satisfying to get that second parry and take big chunk out of spirit
Actually, Man Mode will chain his reds once you get him to half health, as will a few of the base enemies like the hedgehogs with their spin dash attacks.
Nioh 2 is a master piece. I’m let down with wu long. Hopefully they can turn it all around with a dlc
I loved playing this game disregarding the critic/hate towards it. I think the combat was super fun and interactive.
I'm sure someone mentioned it but just in case. Did you know you can deflect all ranged and magic attacks? You can chain deflect through AOEs too.
Look forward to checking this one out 😁
Just finished RE4R and hustling to make the ranking for that. Aiming for early next week. Thanks for watching this in the meantime!
@@theDeModcracy also, remember the names of some of the bosses, the last ranking made some poeple "triggered" because you didn't know Verdugo and Garrador.
Thanks for the reminder! I have them down this time
i think Lu abu’s difficulty in any game he appears in is warranted. he is the literally the best warrior in chinese history
I wouldn't mind it if you gave bosses nicknames more often. "MAN MODE" was hilarious
Aoye can easily be taken down with two metal spells Venom Snare and Life Wither. It sure to die quickly with a few select deflects and attacks. Just make the spells are up after fatal attacks. I discovered on the high difficulty mode
Do you even have Venom Snare by that boss fight?
@5:58 "Slathering im barbecue sauce".. I don't know why that's sssooooo goddamn funny to me.
Some day, we're going to get a game with From's boss encounters and Team Ninja's moment-to-moment combat, and we'll all be better off.
i loved Lu Bu once I read the strats on him. You can get frost lance, a level 1 spell that gets rid of the fire
I've been stuck at Lu Bu for literally 3 hours and my frustration is basically through the roof. 🤬
The first boss took me 4 hours but now it’s going smooth. Reminds me of the Sekiro experience I had.
A tip for Zhang Rang if you use the skill of healing whil damaging then is becamos a walk in the park i never needed to heal myself with my items.
The first Lu Bu fight is up there with Sigrun and Isshin the Sword Saint in terms of difficulty, combat, visual design, and soundtrack; a truly perfect boss fight in this game.
Finally!! Been waiting for this video since the game’s release, thank you.
Funny how most of your mid and high tier bosses gave me little to no difficulty at all, but Taotie and Yu Ji's 2nd phase kicked my ass so many times. But yeah, Aoye and Lu Bu also kicked my ass and took some time to beat.
switch Aoye and Blindfold, and put Zhang Jiao at the bottom and you pretty much have my list
While not on the same level of polish as sekiro this game definitely scratched that itch.
Always a fun time to see Themod upload a video.
I think Blindfolding Boy, Ayoe and Liu bei is the hardest bosses in the game on NG+
Not only in Wo Long, Lu Bu were famously known as someone who you should never fuck around in the warriors franchise
What is crazy with the exception of Lu Bu and tutorial boss I one shot all the bosses in your top ten. Some of the others gave me trouble though.
Ohhhhh yeah, another bona fide Demod banger! 16 seconds in and I already am thanking the youtube gods for a wonderful start to my day ❤️
To quote Captain America from the first Avengers film: "There's only one God, ma'am. And I don't think He dresses like that!!" 😂
Update: Yuan Shao's ice blast attacks can do more damage now. This ranking is outdated.
Zhang Liang club man kicked my butt in the beta so much that I ended beat him on my first try when the game came out lol
All the elemental bosses save for the fire one do a absurd amount of damage and are so fast that deflecting then feels like spamming circle. I’d put both of the lightning ones in the top 3. Lu Bu was definitely the hardest and best boss in the game though.
I don't think I've heard frustration from DeMod like when he was describing hairball lmfao
You gotta love when daddy Dmod drops a new video!
Lu bu, the tutorial boss and aoye absolutely destroyed me in their boss fights XD
It took me forever to beat lu bu but I loved fighting him every single time he was Wo Longs version of Rahdan lol
Aoye gets absolutely bonked by the higher end Lightning spells. One of the easier boss fights for my two playthroughs.
What took you so long? I was eagerly waiiiiting for this video.. ❤️
I’m glad people are starting to acknowledge the bullshit of Aoye. It was the worst boss in the game, even worse than zhang rang.
I can't wait for you rank Zelda TOTK bosses
I'll be happy with whatever you release, regardless, but these might be interesting topics:
-Top 10 Underrated and/or Overrated Games (or Top 5 Underrated and Overrated in a single video)
-Community Ranked Soulsborne Games (the old Best and Worst system could be cool, though reducing the amount of extra points added and retracted would be wise)
-What Makes a Good Combat System? essay
Wo Long's melee combat is AWESOME against human enemies.
The battles against the huge demon bosses sucks because the hit boxes SUCK.
Lu Bu and Red Hare is the best fight and it's not even close.
Also. The magic system in this game sucks. I hate it. Same with the martial arts on the melee weapons.
I was wondering if you were gonna cover this game. Great list!
