    Nearly 3 years since my very first boss rankings on the Dark Souls series, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has finally released. So of course I was hyped to play through From Software's latest title and do a Sekiro boss ranking. We'll be doing rankings for the Sekiro bosses, the Sekiro mini-bosses, and much more!
    Today we'll be ranking the Sekiro bosses from easiest to hardest, including Lady Butterfly, Genichiro Ashina, Gyoubu Oniwa, Divine Dragon, Guardian Ape, and more. I hope you enjoy, and be sure to subscribe for for more rankings, top 10's and gaming content.

    Gotta love the fact that this game's easiest boss fights are against a serpent god and a primordial dragon spirit that shoots lightning at you, whereas the hardest fight is against a scrawny, one-eyed middle-aged man who comes to fight you in his bathrobe after you beat his emo grandson

      @@TheTrueVirus22 I spent 2 days raging through the Owl boss. Cant remember how many times I died, at least over 15+. Decided to take a break and continue with the story and other sidequests, as in other mini/secret bosses (actually fought him right after his prior fight). 2 days, 8 prayer beads and progressing only till the statue before the divine dragon later, I challenged him once again. This time it took me only the 2nd try to beat him.

    I’ve had a strange experience on sekiro, i was completely new to any kind of hard games, everything i played before were kinda of easy and i never thought of a game being challenging . This ended with sekiro ; i remember having a rough time learning the deflect mechanic but the thing i remember the most is : lady butterfly . She ( and the mini boss before her ) were some HUGE obstacles for me , i simply couldnt beat her . I remember doing her as my first ( or second ) boss and i simply didnt stand a chance in any of my attempts . After a lot of tries i simply found myself able to parry or dodge every single one of her attacks and finally beat her . The thing that is the most fascinating is that after that fight i felt invincible and so i was! Every single boss or enemy on my way was getting annihilated and i had pure fun killing them whit out raging over multiple deaths. But as the game continued i found myself two more challenges which were : the flame beast and isshin sword saint . I was really thankful to lady butterfly for letting me grow so much , But i am also thankful to the from company for creating this wonderful game.

I finally gave up after finding out she has a second phase. I came back to her way late game and I expected it to make me mad like before but i was severely overleveled and obliterated her.

After i learned that i restarted and breezed through the game, but thats the only time i actually had to restart, every other game i've been able to overcome in a timely fashion. This game along with bloodborne is the only games where i found myself farming a lot though. Since in bloodborne you always needed flasks as they don't recharge and in this game always needed spirits emblems. I loved this game though and is currently playing NG+ to get to the 2 bosses i've missed emma and isshin.

      Matwej Stronov well, I won't pretend I'm a videogame wiz or something but this type of game just clicks for me, which is normal bc people are good at different things, like you might be great at shooters or something while I suck at them. And something else that helped me a bunch is that, since I started with BB, I played all of the souls games on a dodging and parrying manner, which is what this game is kind of all about, so that made me feel right at home playing it. But don't worry, its all about practice, and let me tell u, this game will make u feel like your the greatest swordsman that ever lived once you master its combat style, it might be bias bc I'm a sucker for fromsoftware games but few games imo are so damn satisfying once u master them.
      Edit: and to be honest, seven spears shit head I had some trouble with as well, it forced me to strategize on how to approach the fight.

      LOPES HICK
      Hits the nail on the head. I‘m extremely good at Shooters and I‘m coming straight from this genre into a completely new one. But damn honestly it feels like I‘m the most dumb person on earth or is it normal that it takes for ever to build up muscle memory for this combat? And honestly I have to say I first try‘d him because I cheesed him. Cleared all the enemies, curled him down where the 2 fat ugly bat swinging people are and stayed almost all the time at the entrance of the gate because he will eventually turn around and that’s an opening where you can get 1 safe hit. And then just rince and repeat. He locks onto you all the time but won’t do anything and turns around after 10 or so seconds. I‘m not proud, I‘m rather disgusted by myself because I know I should have learned it the hard way because I can’t cheese through the real bosses. But honestly I‘m scared shitless of the upcoming encounters.

    • @lopeshick9607
      @lopeshick9607 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matwej Stronov you'll die a lot, but that's normal, its literally what the game revolves around. Take dying and failing as an opportunity to learn and improve, rather than a setback. Every time you die, your getting closer to ur goal. Btw the Way I defeated the seven spears by waiting for his thrust attack, then using the mukiri counter (dash foward to deflect thrusts), then he usually follows up with a slash, then I deflect that and he falls to the ground, then I took that opportunity to axe him for great posture damage. Btw, an item that will help u greatly in this game are the shinobi firecrackers, the description says they only stagger animals but they stagger the majority of the enemies, if ur having trouble, abuse those firecrackers and you'll have a lot
      Of opportunity to deal damage.

    It's cool to see I wasn't the only one who felt the combat suddenly "click" with the second Genichiro encounter. Everything up until that point was doable, but I was genuinely struggling with a lot of common enemies because I was fixated on the whole "play defensively and deflect everything" strategy.
    After quite a few tries and struggling immensely with phase 1 I decided to play aggressive, and within a matter of 5 tries I went from reaching phase 2 with no healing or resurrection to doing phase 1 nearly flawlessly. Once I learned that turning up the pressure on bosses rewards you for it the game became so much easier and a ton more fun!!
    Enemies that use traditional weapons "Katana's, Swords, Spears etc" are a blast to fight. It's beast like enemies "Bull, Ape first phase, Demon of Hatred" where deflecting is much less of a focus where this games combat kinda falls apart for me. Luckily the majority of bosses have some form of traditional weapon so there were very few fights I didn't enjoy. But it does go to show where this games strong and weak points lay (For me).

    I appreciate how (with a few exceptions) the bosses in this game are ranked in difficulty that roughly matches when you encounter them in game. It is a huge success for From Software in how they were able to consistently up the ante, pushing the player’s limits and forcing them to become more skillful as they progress through the game. While I love the Dark Souls franchise, this is something Sekiro did much better.

    • @sophisticatedfrog5737

      I mean it was pretty much the same at least for dark souls 3 cuz the only moment where difficulty didn't match progression in the game therefore causing huge diff spike was Pontiff. Like who tf thought that the hardest non-optional boss in the main game should be IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GAME. But other than that it was pretty fair and balanced

      Ден4ик I think at the same time though DS3 bosses are easy or hard depending on how you build your character. They’re fairly predictable in their attack patterns and become much easier after beating them once or twice. Sekiro bosses mix up their attacks and are brutally punishing if they land a bit. The more I progressed in Sekiro the more skillful I felt because the game forced me to become a master shinobi by the end of it, instead of implying it. In the end, while several Sekiro bosses can be cheesed, each one is brilliantly designed to hone the player’s skills through failure and I love it for that. (I also play without Kuro’s charm so I can’t just block every attack, which helps)

    This is one of the very few story based games that actually is able to teach you how to play it and once you learn how it becomes so satisfying and the main boss fights are designed so well that what initially seems really hard becomes a cake walk in a few tries. Almost every time i had a difficult boss fight which took me 10 or above tries led me to getting so good that by the time i won i had only 1 or 2 gourds used i noticed this everytime that i had actually gotten better at the fight after a couple of tries learning the moves i would even fight on 1 hp entire phases just to get that extra heal on deathblow. Felt amazing.

    The Sword Saint is the best boss by far. Hirata Estate Owl is a close second. With the Sword Saint, there’s little in the game that is as satisfying as the continuous back-and-forth clashing of blades belonging to a Shinobi at the height of his power (within the context of a single playthrough) and the legendary leader of the Ashina clan in his prime. The addition of lightning attacks in his final phase give a cinematic feel to the whole fight, his second phase keeps you constantly on your toes given how fast and punishing his attacks are, the music intentionally raises your heart rate and adrenaline making you that much more invested, the arena is beautiful as it bookends nicely with the arena in which you fight Genichiro for the very first time (not to mention you get to finally finish off that bastard who set this whole game in motion), and finally in executing Isshin, his final words “well done, Sekiro” are a classy way of the game telling you you’ve bested the hardest it has to offer. On repeat playthroughs, there is no other boss that I look forward to beating more than him

      He was cool but I found him a bit too over the top. 4 stages for a boss fight is a bit absurd. I remember when FromSoftware once said during an interview "we don't go out of our way to intentionally make games difficult". LOL I guess that quote goes down the shitter. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, and the last fight is great. But it is a bit comical at how hard it is.

      Boston Towny4life Seriously, keep at it. I’m on my 17th playthrough, and at this point Sword Saint is nothing but a cinematic speed bump. I love the fight, but future playthroughs make him a show rather than a fight. Still my favorite boss, and fighting him is so much fun on every run

      @redmotive it's easier to run away (you don't have to go far) and then grapple attack. It's better to use the umbrella against the fire attacks that are harder to avoid. The real challenge is learning to consistently jump in time to avoid his dash attack that destroys your health

    • @f3z087
      @f3z087 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Demon of Hatred was one of the easier ones for me. His moveset wasn’t that extensive, and the moves he did have were really well telegraphed and easy to exploit, the 3 swing combo that ends in him slamming his sword towards you is especially easy to get hits in. He isn’t even that aggressive, he frequently jumps away after you hit him a few times so it’s hard to get punished for getting greedy.

    • @Andres33AU

      Also you can use the whistle ring upgrade that you get from one of the Schichimen warriors (in the same area as the Twin Apes). The whistle will stun the Demon for quite some time, letting you hit him many times. Still a hard fight though, lol.

    I completely agree with this list- listings are accurate and so is the majority of the information. Sekiro is a favorite fromsoft game of mine, likely because it was my second and I hadn’t developed the i-frame reliance that many other players had. The only thing in this video that irked me was your pronunciation of tomoe, it was like a knife in the stomach each time 😂. I understand pronunciation troubles though, so aside from that- amazing video and great content.

    One tip for the True Corrupted Monk is use the umbrella to block the shadows' attacks. One of the umbrella upgrades specifically says it provides defense from apparition type enemies. So, just turtle up and crawl around until the apparitions are gone. Much more dependable than jumping through the trees.

    • @JustapErson

      Honestly I just gave up on doing the 2nd phase properly because of how bs it was. You could attack him and then he'd do a super fast attack that doesn't get interrupted by hitting him. After a while I realised it was possible to frequently bait him into his jump attack which he did very often if you kept your distance. I beat phase 3 fairly though because at least he had his lightning attacks that opened him up to more punishment.
