    Thanks. Lots of folks goss over the the DBW pedal box install and cruise control is something that I've missed in my planning.
    For the fuel milage comments, I've driven a LS1 (Mild Build) swapped RCSB ('99). It averaged 18 MPG if driven reasonably. I now drive a 04 RCSB that is averaging 18 MPG on a bone stock 4.3L V6. That same LS1 is on a stand ready to go into the '04. I will be surprized if the post swap MPG is down by more than 1 or 2..

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes it can, it's actually much easier in the vehicle, you just bypass the ignition and fuel pump relays, and then bypass the starter relay to crank it over and start it.

    I’m currently working on swapping a 2003 silverado v6 with a 6.0 out a 2007 Chevy 2500 will it work or should I get an engine that’s the same year as my truck??

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can make any of them work, it's more a question of where do you want to spend your money. If the 6.0 is from a 2007 silverado classic (cat eye headlights) then it's a pretty straight forward swap that can be done with all factory parts. If it's from the newer body style 07 silverado (1 piece headlights) it's going to take more electronic adaptation and conversion and in that case, I would look for an engine from the same body style as your 2003 silverado.

    Do you recommend doing this? I had a friend who did this and he said the truck would over heat/caused too many problems

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have a super clean v6 truck and are looking for more power and increased resale value, yes I would recommend it with the caveat that you need to do it right. Don't half-ass it. Get the correct parts for the engine you are swapping in, the right motor mounts, the right radiator, the right transmission cooler.
      In my area, it seems like every immaculate, well maintained, rust free pickup with good paint, is a V6 truck. For me, I absolutely hate body work, so I would much rather go through the work of converting a V6 truck to V8 than trying to make an ugly truck beautiful.

    • @DeathhAngel1
      @DeathhAngel1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MohawkMotors that's what everyone tells me, "just buy a truck with the V8 already in it" but my 4.3 is in very good condition and all i see is clapped out v8s for 8k. Do you think 8k would be enough for a correct swap on an 06 year model?

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeathhAngel1 if you can do the conversion yourself, you can probably do it for under 3k. If you are planning to hire someone else to do it, 8k will probably be about what it costs

    I'm interested in doing something like this for my 08 4.3L sierra (only made those in the work truck models) do I'm curious, would I have to stick with an LS? Would I be better off swapping to a a more *stock* engine? Just looking to have more oomph when going off road and hauling my RV. The v6 is awesome but is slow from stop, and I've had to rebuild the spider injector twice 🤦‍♂️ nobody else really offers much info for this, all I can find is car motor swaps.

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't done one in the newer body style trucks like your 08 sierra but I'll give you my hypothesis based on my knowledge of that generation of trucks. You could swap it to a v8, you would need to get the engine, harness, and computer/computers from an 08 or late 07 (same body style) truck or suv. It owuld probably save you some headaches to get the entire drivetrain from the donor, engine, transmission, and transfer case if 4x4. Once the body style changed the management systems and anti theft got a bit more elaborate, they can still be swapped, but there are more differences from year to year.

  • @jarianbrass5021
    @jarianbrass5021 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How much did you charge for that swap?

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think it's appropriate for me to put out what he paid publicly. It was a price that we agreed was worth my time and knowledge and worth his money. If you're interested in a similar swap feel free to email me with what you're looking to do and I'll get back to you with an estimate ASAP.

    Taking out a fuel efficient engine to install a fuel pig,that makes all the sence.....NOT.

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't recall ever mentioning that the goal of this swap was miles per gallon. My customers objective was a fun to drive, powerful, unusual truck. I think we accomplished his goals and he's very happy with it, that's all that matter to me. If his goal was good fuel mileage he would have left it alone.

    • @JoeRocket-sf6qs
      @JoeRocket-sf6qs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adding a larger engine devalues the truck,and "fun to drive" is just wanton recklessness in this case as a VW Bug can be "fun to drive"with a much lower HP rating and a much higher mpg.😉

    • @MohawkMotors
      @MohawkMotors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think devaluing the truck depends on your audience. To someone looking for a maximum MPG commuter vehicle or an unaltered survivor, swapping the engine and transmission absolutely devalued it. To someone looking for something to go fast and do burnouts in or a street/strip truck that isn't from the 70's or 80's swapping the engine and transmission added value. Value is a personal term, what 1 person thinks is completely worthless, another may see as extremely valuable. One man's trash is another man's treasure.
      Sure there are lots of other ways to have fun driving also, but this was how my customer wanted to do it, and I am happy to make it happen for him.
