Thank you to John and Debbie for giving Ken permission to show us this property. As usual I love how you explain everything Ken, the good, the bad and the ugly!
Thanks, Ken. You did a great job explaining the pros and cons of this property. This frankness is often avoided and as a result people make mistakes in their purchases. You point out BOTH the pros and cons. Much appreciated and wecwill be watching more of your channel!
Thanks to John and Debbie for letting us see this house. And I agree with the others that Ken and Gina do a great job on these videos! I hope John and Debbie do find a place for themselves. Let us know Ken!!! See you next time.
Good job Ken, I can see why they would ask you to show the house, you are very honest about the property. I think the pallet was there to keep the sheep in. It is fun to look at the different house that are there. Thanks to you two. Cheers from Ontario.
I just drove down to the Algarve and back, mostly on the N2. It's amazing how little traffic and population there is. There are many little cottages like this one and villages but very few people until you get to a town. Many aparently abandoned properties too, often with roofs in various states of decay. Beautiful country none the less.

This house was certainly built in the 1970's: the decoration, the furniture, the bathroom...Too expensive when it needs so much essential repairing. It has potential though (if you have the money).
It's so nice to shows real estate and what's like to live in Central Portugal. Also I like the fact that you are telling it like it is about the property. Refeshing. Nice Vlog. Harriet and Jim Richmond, Va.
Love this one. The building and location are charming. The garage and food-producing garden are also excellent. That wine-tasting room is fabulous, I wouldn't change a thing.
Yes, it wasn't for me either to be honest. Fortunately John and Debbie have had us look at other places for them since and they have been really nice :)
hello ken and gina, yeah price is a bit on the high side, I think the roof is the problem ken, think a roofer should take a good long look at it, the biggest problem will be the ridge tiles if there is any opening in them then the water will gush in, the tiles themselves need to be tightened up there should be no sunlight coming through them at all, I think the walls are fine in the house well apart from the damp but its the roof thats causing that once thats sorted out then it be fine but whoever buys it theres a hell of a lot of work to do on it, the garden is great lots of room to grow veggies ect ect as it stands id offer 38 grand, to modernise it would cost a good 25 grand that does not include the repairs to the roof, great video ken and gina keep them coming :)
Wow, Ken, you are unmatched with Central Portugal property tours (and personality 😄). I'm amongst your viewers who v much appreciate the care you and Gina put into these tours and *your* buyer's eye -- the detailed views, info, opinions... terrific. Well done.
You right on the spot and I like your honesty 😂 I bought one old house years ago, thought a little bit here and here of renovation and at the end of the day most of the house had to demolish and start over again 🙈 Roof, internal walls, insulation, plumbing, electrics, windows, doors, bathrooms, flooring, furniture, plastering, proper insert stove, not talking about outdoors etc, 🙈 In my mind this 59k would be at least +100k plus a lot of work to do yourself 🙈 For 150-200k you can get location and already done 👌
I guess it depends on what you are looking for. We bought our farm house in porugal for 67,000 euros... The farm house has no insulation, and the walls are single skin tijolo brick. We live in it just fine as we cant afford to spend 100k+ to fix it up right now. I'm much happier living here cheaply than I was living in a properly built house in England. Previously I had to work all year with only 2 weeks holiday in order to be able to afford the mortgage. Here I am mortgage and debt free.
Just found one day one of your videos and have been captivated. Seen several others since the first one and don't even thinkabout going there (too old). If I was buying this house I think I would turn the garage into a kitchen / dinning room with an entryway into the hall and the front now kitchen which would be a small living room with the fireplace the rest would be bedrooms/ office.
Agree the price is high and would require a lot of work there are solutions like hide away Murphy beds, air flow fans and dehumidifier on a furnace solar power and make access to garden through basement. Nice tour thank you! Seeing potential is key, great little quiet getaway also area by ovens would double for RV sit could fit two or three in there! Wondered about water is there plenty or costs associated with this,
Definitely need a lot of changes example: I would attach the garage at the house and make a new garage. Break the kitchen etc. etc. Have a lot of potential to be an amazing house.🥰
Every house I've seen in Portugal on this and other channels lacks proper insulation, proper windows, and proper doors. The Portuguese themselves say that their older homes (which is most of their housing stock) are substandard.
Hi ken, thank you for your virtual tour, can u please show a virtual tour of more spacious little cottage thats more bright and airy , white washed, would love a property in that area, its beautiful views ....

Hello...I would just like to ask about the warehouse you mentioned..has that been sold or will it be going on for sale? Would be possible to get info or video on that..?thank you so much:)
Hi Debbie, there are other options available if you wanted to live in Portugal. Google the Portuguese D7 Visa. Its basically for retired people with a passive income or a pension. Anyone over the age of 18 can apply for it. You only need to show that you have a passive income equal to 8,500 euros per year to live from. The D7 visa is valid for 2 years. Once it expires you can apply for an additional 3 years. After the 5 years has passed you can apply for residency and get a Portuguese passport. Hope this helps.
Super :-) I need a little home to rent while I obtain temp residency and scout to buy. Perhaps even a rental with an option to purchase. Muito obrigada, blessings
Interesting to visit a remote location of central Portugal. What would a buyer of the property do day to day without animals or neighbors to interact with?
@Heartsongsutube Yes, all that and since there's evidence of dampness that must be resolved, there's sure some wall and ceiling paint to apply after repairs, which will enable the new owner to be riveted as it dries! So exciting...
Love your blogs there the best . But could you treat yourself to a lazer tap measure so you can give a better guide as to the size of the rooms. Hope your both well. Kind Regards Alan

This house needs a full overhaul probably with roof so does the garden…lots of work. It’s a very small house and then add the renovation cost. The cost you end up with is not a good deal and too high for this location and size. Great tour though, wish more real estate agents would do a thorough tour like this, it would save everyone time. The view on one side to the road and other warehouse type structures are not great. 25000 Euro maybe…
In the background a dog barking. That is tipical Portuguese. Everywhere you hear dogs barking and they never stop. So don't think the countryside is all birds singing. Nope, dogs dogs dogs. Everywhere and all the time.
Hi Rutexas, people pay us to visit these properties on their behalf and that's how we make money from these tours. If we earned commission directly from sales then we couldn't be impartial and give totally honest reviews.

Anyone can buy a property in Portugal, but if you are from outside the EU, you will need a Visa if you want to live here for any length of time.
