This was so fun to watch! The Japanese box art is so colorful and has such great details-I especially love the flap art! You’ve built up such a lovely collection! Thanks for sharing it with us. I recently got a copy of Magical Vacation and it is pretty much the first GBA game that I’ve really sat down to play through. I picked it up 100% bc of the characters weird names-“Lemon Airsupply,” “Cabernet Cheaptrick,” “Café au Lait Rustynail”...I just had to see what kind of game had characters with names like that 😂 I’ve played a little Pokémon Pinball but mostly because it was in my husband’s GBA when I stole it play Magical Vacation lol 😈

I notice that Japanese game boxes are more aesthetic than any counterpart like American with rectangular shape. In addition , upon seeing appearance of boxes, It gives me an impulse to play them. It also makes me feel that games will have you enjoy playing and won’t let you down. Therefore , I prefer to collect Japanese game cartridges with complete boxes
Ahh Sennen Kazoku was a game I always wanted to play! Loved seeing your collection, all the pretty boxart and cute instruction booklets. THe Japanese boxes are so much better looking than the western ones.. I think GBA SP is pretty cheap to buy 2nd hand (at least here), though the backlit AGS-101 is more expensive as it's quite sought after. I have a front lit SP that's great to play, but if it wasn't for the added nostalgia, the DS Lite is the better option I think. Ahh the GBA era was so wonderful! Once I had a neat Resident Evil collection, but I sold most when some family members needed medical care. My copy of Biohazard 2 had two identical sticker sheets and I never used them either so I know your struggle haha. Even though I sold most of the games, I still have some of the PS ones (and also 8 different versions of Resident Evil 5 lmao)
I would love a GBA SP! I looked at an AGS-101 model in Japan, but it was nearly $300 D: Maybe I'll get a regular GBA SP for when I don't want to play on my micro.. (it can get a little hard to see after playing for a long period of time!) I had no idea the Japanese version of Biohazard 2 came with sticker sheets! And you own 8 different versions of RE5?! I didn't even know there were that many versions! I used to have fun playing mercenary mode in that with my husband XD
I was only able to pick up 2 on my trip to Japan, one was Sennen Kazoku (I do suggest trying it out once, you can play for a short period and then the game continues playing at a sped up pace whenever you have it turned off, it is very unique) and the other is Initial D Another Stage, a car racing-sim game, also very unique and interesting. Sadly all of my DSs have split in half, so I can't pay any GBA titles anymore :/
I have been trying to get a gba micro, but man are they price here in Brissy, especially if you want a 001 for the backlight. 80 starting with no games. I want, eventually, to own all the Pokémon games for their real consoles. I have (or else lost, we are unsure) my clear purple GB with Pokémon Red from way back when Pokémon fit are started, and all the mainline and some sideline DS+ games. My one desired collection as someone who has played Pokémon with her wife since 1998. And now with my kids, 14 and 18. Even have custom art of my daughter as a catgurl pokemon trader.
GBA micro are so expensive!! I grabbed mine like 7 years ago before the prices really started hiking up. That would be awesome to own all of the Pokemon games. It would be such a nice collection! I love some of the limited edition Pokemon consoles they have, too!
apricotsushi I know, right? I will keep trawling Gumtree and maybe eBay on more flush weeks. If I could get all the custom consoles too, that would rock. For now, my plan is actually just a little retropi / kodi pi machine in that cool retrogear nis case+, for doing roms from way back when I was a kid. But some hints deserve the extra effort. Like for the roms on this I will roll my own however I can from actual cards.

The GBA game isn't very good as you don't drive the car. You select choices on a menu and it's a short one as well. I say avoid that one.
