Amed Tajan probably. They were built to haul stuff that is unique to military operations...like tanks. These jets are set up to land on short dirt strips right where combat operations take place. Nothing in the civilian world that had these capabilities.
9:46 what are these scratches on the body of the plane ??? I believe it was touching the runway when the plane took off due to the large angle of attack !!!
I hate that the C-17's came into service after I retired. While in service I got to work on the C-130's, C-141's, and the C-5's full time, and working on civilian cargo aircraft also, and we knew the C-17's was coming, and overdue, but I retired just before they entered service.
I live at the end of the pattern for McChord, *aka JBLM* these plans fly over my house daily. Once in a while we will hear and see the f15's taking off but mostly these big boys rattling my windows. Love it.
I still don't understand how the walrus C-5 is faster than this incredible aircraft at typical cruise speed. I've talked with pilots at airshows and heard one mention regularly getting passed by airliners above them at altitude when at best cruise of .73-.74 Mach. Of course high altitude cruise is not the design mission of this bird. But still...surely Boeing can figure out how to squeeze another 30 knots cruise out of it up high.
Why would you want to be a fighter pilot when you can fly one of these beasts. Amazing it needs very little runway as some Afghans sadly didn't factor in Kabul. Within 2 secs it's doing a very steep lift off for safety & it's a few hundred feet up. Doh!
Jesus tap dancing Christ! Of course it’s a gd McChord tail! Do any of the other bases even fly?? I have literally flown this jet down range, and to this day I have not seen a Charleston jet on the road.

Why the HUD? Big stupid clump of unnecessary obstruction for every flight - explains the 12° rotate, to 15°, back to 10° (shit, forgot the 130 prop right up in the arse back there fucking my trim) - yeah, look at the HUD next time, it’s why it’s there, isn’t it? Oh, I use it for putting my lipstick on - that’s not your lipstick........
I see a female in the left seat but where's the OGP (Openly Gay Pilot)? The military is rapidly replacing straight men with chicks and OGPs but we never see the gays. Maybe the guy with the "rainbow belt" was an OGP. That's probably it.
The OGP is probably in the back of the plane trying to convert straight men to the rainbow side. Or he could be participating in a gangbang so he can earn his mile high club membership. That why the woman took over that flight.
Jason Forbes Just saw where obama has now removed restrictions on transgenders serving in the military and in front line combat units. How is that going to work out? Well, combine this with obama's campaign to rid the military of "toxic masculinity" and the "macho culture". The US can win wars (and the US loves going to war) without all those aggressive males, right? I don't know, but let's give it a try. Why not? What have we got to lose? Let's get rid of all that "toxic masculinity" and "rampant testosterone" and let's see what happens when the US goes up against Putin's Russian army. But first, give me fair warning so I can stock up on chips and popcorn and some nachos, plus a truck load of beer. And lots of cigars and fresh batteries for the shortwave radio. I'll drive out into the desert and pitch a tent, then kick back and enjoy the entertainment. If the US government thinks they're doing the right thing, then I really don't care who wins. (actually, I do...I'll be rooting for the Russians...but I won't tell anyone that..people might think I'm a Commie...)
Mista Butterworth But men are gradually being pushed out of the military by female generals and admirals. Valerie Jarrett and Susan Rice have fired several high-ranking male officers and replaced them by women. This sends a very strong message to other men that they're not wanted. Great video, I'm a former C-141 guy, with a daughter flying the C-17.

Dream I am a pilot, but the wind does not get what I crave. I became a truck driver. Greetings to you from Baghdad

HOLD THE DOOR FOR THE LADY PLEASE.
in other news, great video. awesome plane.
+Noe Oneh This is the age of gender equality remember? The chick can hold her own door just like any other dude.
It was really terrible
Valid observation
and she was the Captain of the Flight....
Noe Oneh MANNERS!!
AiirSource is it possible to get more C-17 flightdeck footage. This is by far the best footage I have seen yet! Thanks! :D

Amazing video; great quality and nice details. Thanks! :)
Wonderful big bird! Americans really know how to build an aircraft.
What a level of maturiry. PIC with a rank of captain and CP lieutenant. Piloting a flying elephant.
Wonderful video. God bless our troops.
The C-17 was amazing cuz you had a joystick not the steering wheel like control and it also could back up a ramp and unload its cargo
very good photography ........
GO AIR FORCE! 😎👍👍
It’s just amazing to watch this.. It’s a beautiful bird✈️
Nice!! Well done.
The heads-up display you know it was really exciting to see in a cargo craft but you know what if you have to technology and use it
A C-17 from McChord visited TJSJ today tail # 88194, 62 AW, 446 AW, Awesome!
Enjoyed this. Thanks!!
Super video.
Beautiful. Thanks bro...
I’m proud to have had a hand in building that awesome bird.
Top plane not forgetting the Hercs & still going strong in various variations (various variations! Can I use that, sounds ok hmmm..🤔)
Impressive 🙏
god bless the man and women of the us air force

theres more than one man in the air force buddy
No V1 ?
Wait is the flight line in Afghanistan exposed?
Awesome mission
Their headset mic is better than my gaming headset. Idk why its so clear when u shout on that mic your teammates ear will burst.
Question, how do you record both pilot audio and atc audio?
How many gallons of fuel does that critter hold
Wonder why they would design that plane with a stick instead of the other flight controls . Does it matter or is one control more easier to fly.
Amed Tajan lol
2:01 - IL-78 back there?
So is the Male CPT an IP?
yoke? i didnt know those were sticks.
My last duty station.
What a beautiful plane
The best rids ever .....
Looks like one of the crews had a handgun on his waist. Why only one of them?

interesting - no V1 or V2 call,...
You could hear the rotate call very faintly at the end.

It doesn't really matter. Pound for pound this a/c can haul more than a C-5 plus it can land on austere runways and reverse on its own
It's a Mcdonnell Douglas built Aircraft. It only became Boeing because of the merger. All design updates were done before then.
How come the speed tape is reversed? That's so weird :P Cool video though!
The GPWS sounds like it’s from a DC-10/MD-11
It’s a McDonnell plane. It’s just called Boeing because it came out after the merger
Wieso hält man der Lady nicht die Tür auf.???

why do they use a helmet for landing?
They're in a war zone...real bullets you know, flak jackets too.
que mquina más fascinante, espectacular la cabina.
After their tour of duty, they will become a commercial pilots.
Hold da door! Hooldd door! Hodor! Hodor!
🤣🤣🤣
Not complicated at all.
Start, Accelerate, Take off, Fly, Decelerate, Touch down, Brake, Turn off engine😎
Why do they wear helmets?
War zone. You see the flak jackets on the crew after landing.

As door slams on the Female Pilot
172nd AW!!!
Yo all you show is the second in command this is about the captain and her flight and not some macho thing
This just goes to show that women can fill vital support roles in the military. Just not in the infantry. Now, bring on the hate comments!
AF #1
Is this "take your daughter to work day"?
Close door on ac commander huh?
Was it just me or did that airman hold the door open for everyone but the female. WOW
Shut the door on the burd, where's yer manners flyboy?
Alfy71 with new laws and all the gender equality shit
Doesn’t hold the door for the captain.
😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
I believe in proper etiquette, you always hold the door for a female especially if she is piloting,
A comment from down under over use of the USAF military patches that tainted this as a propaganda exercise but apart from that a great vid
lol holds door for guys then doesnt for the lady

I gave this video a thumbs down because it doesn't seem like the crew knows what their doing.
Great show....but I wonder why they don't win any wars? nice to see women, they can birth to more warmongers.
