Wheel Bearing Replacement with Basic Hand Tools

แชร์
ฝัง
  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 24 พ.ย. 2012
  • Front wheel bearing replacement on a 2002 Buick LeSabre with basic hand tools. Please note, this vehicle has the bearing built into the hub. Some vehicles may have a taper rolling bearing (usually older vehicles have this setup) or some vehicles may need the bearing to be pressed out of the hub. In this case, the hub & bearing is all one unit. Don't forget to wear safety glasses.

    This wasn't really a bearing replacement. This was a hub replacement, and it was the much easier bolt on kind. Press fit bearing work is a whole different kettle of fish.

    I am preparing to replace my hub assembly on my 03 MO and out of the 5000 videos I've watched yours was the easiest to understand. Yes, there are some differences because of the car you're working on vs. the one I have, but it's all relative. Not only was it easy to understand, but you really didn't require a lot of loaner tools (which I can appreciate). I have backup handy in case I need help or get stuck; but from a woman willing to get her hands dirty, I thank you sooooooo much!!!! From what I've read or seen regarding Murano hub assembly repairs, it's getting the hub off without messing up the ABS sensor. I'll update once it's done!

      Yeah sorry but this is bad information and honestly a pretty bad video. Most hubs aren't that easy to get off for one and if ppl are already giving you a hard time, you don't want information that isn't accurate to start you off with.
      He replaced hub assembly not just the bearing. Replacing just the bearing would have been a different story and a much longer video.

    • @Myselfnyou

      There has GOT to be a reason why everybody takes the pads off before the bracket.

    • @ethand5672
      @ethand5672 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Myselfnyou 9/10 times you won't get it off the rotor if it's worn at all. (Has the lip on the edge) Also, I would be worried about scoring the rotor in a manner that is not consistent with the grooves that are already on there. That's my main concern and why I always remove the caliper then pads before the bracket

    This a nice clean, clear video. By that I mean it is well illuminated and doesn't shake and move all over the place and your narrative is clear and concise, not rambling like some other videos. One thing I noticed was that at about the 9:20 mark in the video the brake pads were reversed. That is, the outboard pad should have been put inboard and the inboard pad put outboard. Note the round caliper piston mark on the pad. I realize it probably didn't make much difference in the end.

    Good video I like this set up where you have the whole one piece hub assembly where the bearing bolts on and off you don’t need any pulling tools I would say though that when you put the hat rotor back on the hub you need to make sure that’s been cleaned with a wire brush because any clumps of rust won’t allow it to bolt up flat and it may lead to a wobble and that will cause problems

    I ran into one problem - the backing of the hub separated as I removed the bearing, leaving the speed sensor and inner-most bearing race still in place. Can that section be simply banged outward with a hammer and screwdriver? It seems to be made of plastic and thin metal.

    I can't believe people pay mechanics to do this. I do all the work on my cars I have never done a wheel barring, watched this video and and knew how to do it, it probably saved me 200 bucks lol

    I took auto shop in high school in the early 70's before FWD cars. This is a totally different animal than what I was used too. I never had to do it before because the bearings never failed on any of my cars until now. I bought the harbor freight bearing adapter set and did it with no problems. I did have to cut the inner race off of the spindle with a dremel tool. The 150 pounds of torque on those spindle nuts was kind of strange though! Not used to that one.

    great work. any ideas how to do a rear wheel bearing. I believe that's giving me high speed vibration in my 2002 Z71 suburban?
