Trying to find a substitute to my Truthear Zero Reds, as they hurt my ears, and I have my eye on the Moondrop May, but goddamn the reviews on this are all over the place lol. Some people say mediocre, other people say brilliant, and I just wish to know how it compares to the Reds, as I really liked the sound on those.
I got one. For the price, the cca rhapsody is a bit better int erm of sound. But if you have the EW200 pair it with the MAY cable, reduce the sibilance and put some bass in the PEQ... DAMN...🎉
Does it have good enough power output for phone use. Is it better to use a pmeq (poweramp) on my phone and set the dsp pmeq to flat. Or use the built in pmeq and diasble SW eq'ing on the phone.
Have both. I'll say May, just because the cable itself is worth 30 bucks and much nicer quality than the Hexa's. Sound wise, they're pretty on par. But the May can be easily EQ'd with the DSP cable, so there's that.
The use of a USB C connector means that it severely limits the use of IEM. The only place I can use it would be on my latop. Cannot use it with my PC without an extension unless the cable is super long.
Correction:
At 5:05, I meant to say that the hardware in the May DSP cable is similar to the Free DSP cable, not the CDSP cable.

It sounds fine out of a phone or cheap dongle, though feeding it some more power makes the bass a bit more tactile from my observation
how is it compared to aria OG ?
Would MAY be better than Titan S for gaming, stuff like ambient imaging and listening for directions?
Where can I buy them?
Dunno about your local availability. I bought fron a local store, but you can likely find it on Aliexpress and other e-commerce platforms
Amazon
This or hexa?

Think you can swap them with the Tripowin cable for 3.5mm.
I just ordered my Moondrop May and will update if it's true
Hate to break it to you, but desk top users are in the minority
