I went gorilla trekking in Uganda last year - actually as I have long covid I was unable to trek but used the "sedan chair" option. We were assigned the nearest group just 10mins from the drop off point. 6 months later I am still pinching myself that I was standing about 12ft from a silver back and little more than a foot from the youngest member of the family who had a fascination with our shoe laces. If you get the opportunity ,chimp trekking and the rhino place are also unique experiences. The one thing about the country was the people and in particular the children. So delightful- if you are able to pick up pens and exercise exercise books to take to Bwindi, the schools are desperate and it's what the kids ask you for all the time. They are so keen on their education, and are really proud of their school uniforms. Have a wonderful trip. Word of warning, driving via the national parks you will not see a load of wildlife. The animals are not used to vehicles which is great on the one hand but does mean that most sightings are at a distance and are rare. I was spoilt with my first safari being in Tanzania, even the Masai Mara had far fewer sightings, with the exception of lions.
That is amazing! We did our trekking this morning and it was one of the most memorable experience of my whole life!

The gorillas at bwindi Impenetrable forest are amazing. They blow you away up close with their size. And the trek staff are amazing. And yes it's a long drive to get there but sooooo worth it.
