Just came on to say the same. I lived in Kenya in the 80s and went there then. Main memories were the cool see saw things in the playground over looking the airport.
Graduated high school in 1997 in Kenya. Carnivore was a place not just for eating meats but also clubbing like the "super soul Sunday's" they used to do. I came to correct the timeline of when it was open as well. But Dave Mani always tries to correct his information. Thanks for correction. Back the 80's and 90's we did get to eat the exotic meats.
aah! Carnivore! its so nostalgic we used to rock and party at carnivore when I was in campus it was the go to place many people have met their wives there.
I’ve never clicked so fast before…. Carnivore has always been great you guys took me back down memory lane and the dawa that goes with the meat is very refreshing 💕
Dave I'm sure it was open before 1999, I'm not talking about the Golf Range, which it was originally. I left Kenya before 1999 and I'd spent many years visiting and partying at Carmivor
We tried Carnivore back in 2021 and it was really good, actually in Nairobi right now, but had other places on my must try list this time around. Wewent to the The al-yusra 2 nights ago and it was fantastic, anyway, we love your videos =)
Just saw the video, its amazing. Actually all your videos are very informative and great tbh! And I really like the way you think - "Focus on what you're here for - meat , meat" ... Exactly like me. hahaha lol
My favorite restaurant/meat place. I started going to the carnivore restaurant when my son was 9 months and he is now 11 years old. We still eat there but not as often as my kids have outgrown the play area
My family and I have been patrons of this restaurant since the mid-80s. One thing I can say is that it's vastly different from what it used to be. due to new regulations, they no longer offer a lot of game meat that made this restaurant one of the world's top 50. Meats like wildebeest zebra and buffalo are sadly no longer on the menu. the seating is a lot more cramped these days, but that was to be expected. all in all, still perfect for a Sunday afternoon out, but gods do I miss 90s carnivore. thanks for the amazing content bro!
@@DaveMani still, the Tamarind Group have several amazing and unique restaurants here in Kenya. Would recommend their Dhow restaurant in the coast next time you're here
@@DaveMani when i was there my friend kept telling the waiter that i wanted more balls!! i think i had 8 or 9 of them - the guy wouldn’t stop bringing them! lol
Love the food at Carnivore and sitting outside. It was fun to watch my travel group's reactions to vervets who came to play in the trees near us. If anyone leaves Carnivore hungry, they've done something wrong ;-)
This is used as a time filling location, by UK tour companies, when the last flight from the Mara gets you to Nairobi many hours before your departure flight. We were very unimpressed, both with the food and the service, and would have been much happier to have gone to a much nicer restaurant, or even a hotel to fill the time. Off to Botswana in 10days, I can't wait 😊
Jumping into memory lane where my father savoured the delectable game cuisines from this iconic restaurant. Let's revive those rich flavors and gastronomic adventures. Stay tuned to a culinary journey unparalleled.
Yeah, we are trying but they are not answering us. We simply want to confirm with them that we can film. Since it's a "fancier" spot, we don't want to show up there with our camera and be turned around...
Sacre bleu!! You had to call the holy crocodile an alligator? Unforgivable! Anyways, Carnivore is a national treasure. They do have concerts playing from time to time. Great place. Always nice to watch your videos.
Yes we did! I don't remember now but Tracey said the price while we were having a drink at the bar and I even put the prices in USD and KSH on the screen.
@@DaveMani OK thanks for the reply, I will have to rewatch it again, coz your channel l hardly here the price or name of hotel or restaurant since l am always busy helping you guys to EAT, AND DRINK and have fun
Dear Dave. We love you in Africa. Please tell Tracy that in Africa, South Africa especially. Chicken livers, gizzard, feet, necks and intestine have always been the so called "economic" portions that most families living below the bread line have preferred. I personally love those portions because I grew up enjoying them. Give the livers a try. My favorite Italian restaurant in Sandton specializes in chicken livers and Italian bread. Hint hints
I also thought the green thing with the dawa was a straw. I spent a solid minute trying to figure out if it had a blockage in it. I felt my IQ take a dip when I was told it's a muddler (for crushing the lemons) ❤❤

I hear that Carnivore has a lot of meat, now I see. 3:31 the straw. 😂😂The flag story is original. The other day my daughter and I were wondering if ostrich is edible. Oh.... nice to know. All the meat you ate there, is all good for me, even the chicken liver. I'd choose the brownie over the ginger dessert. 🍗🍖🥩🥓

Never been so its just fire to watch.
You should try fogo gaucho. I think you have been though?
We actually made a video at Fogo! That place for the meat was even better if you ask us.
If you like ostrich, they have an ostrich farm place in Kenyan, complete with ostrich meat too! went with my mom , and Ostrich was delicious!!!
