This is the single best system I have seen for marking a bible. I have never liked marking in different colors because I would debate what color to use and would end up feeling like I messed up my bible. Great method and great video. THANK YOU!
I’m so glad I found this video. This is an absolutely perfect system for me. As a visual person, your reasoning behind highlighting those commonly known/quoted scripture verses was especially helpful. Thank you so much for sharing.
Pen : Annotate 📌Orange : Default Pattern /Theme of the Passage / Big Concepts 📌Green : Old Testament Citations / New Testament Citations 📌Yellow : Big time Verses eg. Philippians 4:13 / Memory Verse 📌Pink : Verses that stood out to you.
Thank you for making this video. I was completely overwhelmed with all the different types of Bible marking, note taking systems. I'm heading to Walmart to get me some highlighters.
Thank you so much for this video! I have been trying to figure out which system to use and this has solved my problem. It is much less complicated than the others I’ve seen.
Oh, I'm SO glad I found your video! I purchased my first journaling (wide margin) bible, and have been trying to figure out what my "system" would be. This is perfect! Thank you! :)
this is a great idea!!! I've seen so many have multiple highlighting colors and it's just too much to keep up with... this is nice, streamlined and simple to keep up with... thanks so much for sharing!
I watched this on a whim and never thought it was going to be so good. I agree more markers have made if more difficult for me like another commenter mentioned.
A very unique (compared to other Bible highlighting systems) but practical approach. I especially like using a color to highlight OT quotes in the NT and the NT references in the OT. GREAT IDEA!! Also like a color for recurring themes. Basically, like the entire system. :) Thank you for posting this.
Thank you for this. I just purchased two new bibles, one is a wide margin journal bible, and the other is a bit smaller and will be my church bible. I was debating on what system and colors to use, and this helped me immensely. As I really didn't want something that would distract me.
Thank God this video. I've seen other videos, but they have too many colors and markings, i think im gonna follow your system, cause the others are overwelming me
Thank you. I did enroll in your free class but every time I tried to go back into it I had to re-enter all my info and even then had difficulty getting back in. The lessons I did were great but accessing them is just too difficult for me anyway. The last time I tried I couldn’t even get in.
And to recap: Orange - themes, big ideas, reoccuring things in the text Green - NT in the OT and OT in the NT Yellow - "hallmark" verses Underline things that stand out like words/phrases Love it! I found I was using too many colors and it just got too crazy to manage. Thanks for this simplified approach!
I think I'm going to do two colors. Orange (caution). Basically any verse with instructions as far as do and don't. Yellow for key verse and pencil for citation.
I have gone the complex route first with everything in life, but I decided with color system I’m going simple only 3. A sister gave one system that was one color for all things about God, one color for verses that stand out/break down, and a color for words. I found this a good system to learn the kjv, but your system??! That’s a tight system I’m running with it exact in my nasb.
Love this, and perfect for starting my new Bible for 2023. It’s clean, very useful to use and do, not so overwhelming to stop and think, now which color means what? Appetite has been ignited, thanks
Thank you sir God bless you your family and your friends God loves you I hope you your family and your friends you all have a wonderful fantastic awesome bless safe beautiful lovely day wherever you all are enjoy the rest of your day sir I love you
I have the Holman Rainbow Study Bible. It's already color coded and Lords words are underlined. I think I can only use pens for any additional highlights. Any suggestions on how to use this Bible if appreciated. ❤
Is your green highlight only for an exact reference or a cross reference that’s similar? For instance when Jesus says this generation asks for a sign. Would you reference Jonah in the whales belly. Even thought it’s not a direct quote ?
I have created a tester page to test out any Pens or Highlighters in the back of my Bibles so I don't mess up my actual Bible. I have a few favorites I share on my channel. Check out (what's IN my pen bag) playlist
Yeah, what Cat said is a great idea. Just test out one of your blank pages towards the back of your Bible to see which pen has the best results for you!
Hi Tom really sorry about that. I don’t see anything on my end. Could you email me (betterbiblereading@gmail.com) and I’ll create an account for you and send you the info
I do, it doesn’t seem to cause any issues. For what it’s worth, I don’t love the red letter concept, though I do understand why so many people appreciate the intent behind red letter sections
Hi Dori! I don’t recall but I’d always recommend testing your highlighter in one of the back pages of your Bible to see how it does with bleed through issues before using them on pages with text!
Best to always test the highlighter on a blank page in the back of your Bible to see how it does. Bibles will all have different page thicknesses, and not all highlighters are created equal. This set (sharpie) does well with lighter colors, but the blue does bleed through.
For underlining specifically, I don't follow a specific rule for each time I do that- but in general I may want to emphasize repeated words or phrases that I see occurring repeatedly
Thank you for this video! I have watched quite a few videos regarding this subject, and have been completely overwhelmed with so many colors folks are using for this or that. Your color coding method is the first one I’ve seen so far that I believe I can manage/tweak with a 3 color system & pen. I also love your cross referencing between the Old & New Testaments. Such an eye opener! Thank you for this!!!!!
You should do a word study on Sabbath and 7th day... don't forget to take a look at Hebrews 4... notice it says "if he had spoken of another day"... which points out the fact that CHRIST didn't speak of another day. Keeping the 7th day Sabbath says that you are following the GOD of the Bible and not the God of your own designs. The verses you showed in Acts 13:42, 44 shows Paul honoring the Sabbath. He didn't say "come back and meet with me tomorrow because we now worship God on Sunday because of Christ's resurrection"... Paul told them "come back next Sabbath". There was no change in when they kept the Sabbath. Even in death, Christ kept the Sabbath... Creation week - God "finished" His work on Friday and rested on Sabbath... In Christ's recreation work, HE said "It is finished" on the cross and rested on Sabbath. He kept the Sabbath; shouldn't we, as His followers, do the same?
I absolutely will not highlight or mark any verses in a Holy Bible. If you do, when you see that page again, your eyes will fix on the underlined verse and you could miss other important meaningful verses of which there are plenty on every page
Highlighting and marking are certainly optional and not required but it helps most of us, myself included, notice how certain parts relate to the whole

I really like the simplicity of this system, and yet super helpful to remember why you highlighted a certain passage.
Thanks very much. Great system. Wish I had seen this before I started highlighting all of my Bible.
No shame in getting another Bible for a new highlighting system either!
Pen : Annotate
📌Orange : Default Pattern /Theme of the Passage / Big Concepts
📌Green : Old Testament Citations / New Testament Citations
📌Yellow : Big time Verses eg. Philippians 4:13 / Memory Verse

Awesome

That's great. So glad I was able to help!
Dual tip Studio series highliters are very for the bible. And they have fine tip and thick tip
this is a great idea!!! I've seen so many have multiple highlighting colors and it's just too much to keep up with... this is nice, streamlined and simple to keep up with... thanks so much for sharing!
So glad I was able to help Lois! Simple is better 99% of the time!

You’re very welcome!
Very simplified method of highlighting in your bible, very refreshing video.Kee up the good work.
you are creating mind maps of the Bible. I like this approach. This is one of my goals this year :)
Thanks for watching!
Reminds me of a Thompson Chain bible as far as your references back and forth between NT and OT.
Excellent: I like the 3 color and pen idea better. It's simpler IMO. Thanks for making this and sharing.
Very nice presentation. Thank you for sharing your system with us. I love seeing others’ techniques. God bless you!
Thanks so much!
Thank you for sharing. This system seems to work well. I just need to get myself a wide margin Bible
Thank you very much, this has been incredibly helpful.
So glad to hear!
Thank God this video. I've seen other videos, but they have too many colors and markings, i think im gonna follow your system, cause the others are overwelming me
This video is exactly what I was looking for!! Thanks
Great! I’m so glad it was helpful!
an excellent video I write all over in the bible, the one thing that helps me is who, what, where and why.
Those are the right questions!
Thank you. I did enroll in your free class but every time I tried to go back into it I had to re-enter all my info and even then had difficulty getting back in. The lessons I did were great but accessing them is just too difficult for me anyway. The last time I tried I couldn’t even get in.
Very helpful! I’m definitely picking up this highlighting system. God bless you.
Thanks so much for watching. I'm glad to help!
Thanks!
Glad to help!

Thanks for the time stamps for each color !
Thanks!
And to recap:

Great to hear!
Orange 2:35

Good day just tried to sign up but not getting through
Hi Melissa, I'm sorry for your issue. See if this link works: www.betterbiblereading.com/challenge-page/betterreadingforlife
Thank you for your video. Can I ask what Bible it is that you are using in this video? Looks like it has a good size font and good margins.
Yeah! It’s the ESV Wide Margin Reference Bible
I only use one color yellow
Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes just one color works best. What kind of things do you highlight?
What I'd really love to know, is whay pena you use to write..
Is your green highlight only for an exact reference or a cross reference that’s similar? For instance when Jesus says this generation asks for a sign. Would you reference Jonah in the whales belly. Even thought it’s not a direct quote ?
I use Logos with multiple colors and images, especially in the book of Revelation. What do you think?
That's a great idea, and images probably work best in some books over others, but Revelation definitely fits the description!
How do you keep the marker ink from bleeding through the pages?
I have created a tester page to test out any Pens or Highlighters in the back of my Bibles so I don't mess up my actual Bible. I have a few favorites I share on my channel. Check out (what's IN my pen bag) playlist
Yeah, what Cat said is a great idea. Just test out one of your blank pages towards the back of your Bible to see which pen has the best results for you!
Do you mark your reading bible or keep a clean copy for that purpose?
I’m trying to register for your course and every time I enter my email and press start it brings me back to just entering my email.
Hi Tom really sorry about that. I don’t see anything on my end. Could you email me (betterbiblereading@gmail.com) and I’ll create an account for you and send you the info
Same thing is happening to me in trying to register for your Bible Reading course.
Do you still highlight with all your colors over the red letter text? I was wondering if it works out ok or not. Thank you 🙏🏻
I do, it doesn’t seem to cause any issues. For what it’s worth, I don’t love the red letter concept, though I do understand why so many people appreciate the intent behind red letter sections
As far as a pen is concerned, do you use fine point or medium point?
Finer point is better-- there's only so much space in the margins
Hey Charlie! I think ball point vs gel is more important than fine or medium, but I use either 0.5 or 0.7 and they both work well!
Pleaseeee what bible do you use the exact name i wanna buy it too
ESV Wide Margin Reference Bible. Link should be in video description
What highlighters do you use that doesn't bleed to the other side of the page? My highlighters bleed through.
Hey!
You should check out Pigma Micron. They don't bleed through and are archival /water resistant for long term preservation
Hi Dori! I don’t recall but I’d always recommend testing your highlighter in one of the back pages of your Bible to see how it does with bleed through issues before using them on pages with text!
are you saying those highlighters dont bleed through? if they dont please tell me what brand they are. Thank you
Best to always test the highlighter on a blank page in the back of your Bible to see how it does. Bibles will all have different page thicknesses, and not all highlighters are created equal. This set (sharpie) does well with lighter colors, but the blue does bleed through.
What pen are you using
I don't remember for this video but just look up extra fine felt tip pens on amazon and you'll be good to go!
Why do you underline in pen
check out around 3:30
For underlining specifically, I don't follow a specific rule for each time I do that- but in general I may want to emphasize repeated words or phrases that I see occurring repeatedly
Thank you for this video! I have watched quite a few videos regarding this subject, and have been completely overwhelmed with so many colors folks are using for this or that. Thanks for watching Katie!
The sabbath is the 8th day now
It was on day after sabbath
Even the library DEWEY decimsl system uses the number 780 for music

Highlighting and marking are certainly optional and not required but it helps most of us, myself included, notice how certain parts relate to the whole
First you need to get yourself a good Bible KJV
