    It would be very helpful if you updated this video to the common dies and materials people use today. The old steel rule dies would probably cut through a car's fender (lol) but except for some classics, they are not the dies of choice now.
    Had a Big Shot since forever and it IS a workhorse but a more current test would be "no plastic frame" dies like Thinlets and other thin, detailed dies. Also, the materials to cut now include Yupo, mixed media, watercolor, bristol and many more papers. Would love to see how the new, upgraded Big Shots could handle the today's world materials.

      What we did was create a pile of materials and then kept adding to it as we thought of things. So it kind of developed over a period of time and then when we decided we had enough in the pile, we recorded the video.

      I got one two days ago as I only had the Hobbycraft machine which wouldn't take Sissix dies as they're too thick. But I'm so disappointed in the Sissix Big shot, their own Sissix dies don't match up to make the relevant sized sandwich. Too thin without their extra shim, too thick with it. I have to use bits of cardboard as shims to get the Sissix dies to go through the rollers. Tattered Lace dies go through the Bigshot without any problems though 🤨

    A great tutorial. When you used the flock paper I thought about the flock wallpaper I've seen in my large local diy store - I've often gone there for samples for my daughter. We are allowed to take some off the end of an open roll and I get her some that I think she can use in her card making :)

    • @alandacraft
      @alandacraft  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Lesley Gilbert That's an excellent idea Lesley. Not many houses in Australia have wallpaper its mostly painted walls, but in NZ we always had wallpaper on the walls and I remember having a lovely deep maroon flock paper in the lounge. Your daughter will get a really nice effect on her cards using flock paper.

    Nice video. I put so much more through my big shot. I've used magnetic sheets, metal flashing, a sponge, wall paper, sticky sheets, iron on sheets, sand paper sheets, sticky linoleum squares, chip board, contact paper, foil, wax paper, duct tape, . Basically anything that is flat, I've tried to crack it through!!!

I wanted to wait to get a good mothers day special for myself and a craft store here in Australia had these going out on sale for 48 hours only and you saved $69. So i went and got it for myslef. (i have a smaller one thats way to small to do much with) But then i really have no clue to what it could cut. i just thought paper. Until i seen this video. Now i can't really wait to get it :-)

    That was a great video.It is helpful to know what something can do before you spend the money on it. I was going to say you should change the description because you put, "Amazon Associates." I think you meant affiliates. Not a big deal, but some people may think they are helping amazon, instead of helping two wonderful crafters. And I know you made this a while ago, but people are still watching it. One of the links you guys put for the Big Shot only has one crazy seller left trying to get people to pay over $300 for the $75 machine. If you ever do another one, could you PLEASE cut chipboard? That is why I am looking at die-cutting machines. The chipboard embellishment prices are killing me.

    • @alandacraft
      @alandacraft  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your feedback, Grace. Although Amazon call their affiliates 'Associates', I agree with you that more people are aware of the term affiliate so I have changed the terminology in the description. I have also found a more reasonably priced teal Sizzix.

    Hey there thanks for your videos :) just wondering where do u get the paper flock from? I want to do rhinestone templates and cut them with my scan n cut but I'm finding aussie craft sores hopeless as they never sell any thing I would like to use so I have to use eBay

      Emma Brache I know what you mean about the Aussie craft stores. We don't have as much to choose from, but you should be able to get the flock paper here. We bought it from Officeworks. Here is the link: www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/s-l-flock-paper-s-a-we-bk-2pk-sl61003

    i can imagine the two of them talking before they made this video.
    So, yeah, let's see what we want to try to run through this. What do we have around the house? Yep, plastic bags, cardboard, and how about those tea towels grandma gave us?
    So much fun to watch this, to see what they were going to cut next! I love my Big Shot, and can't wait to give one to my daughter so she can create stuff, from almost anything!
    This was a great video! Thanks!

    I was hoping to see chip board and acrylic sheeting for shaker cards. Will it work on them?

    • @alandacraft
      @alandacraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't tried it myself Mary. But I did a bit of research and it looks like it will cut both those products. Some people mentioned that you would need to do a few passes to cut chip board and you may have to finish cutting the design with a craft knife. But as I say I haven't tried it myself so I can't in all honesty say if it will work or not.

    Is it more about what the die will cut because I think The Big Shot will attempt to cut anything of a certain thickness? What did you find that it would not cut, if anything? Thanks for your video.

    • @alandacraft
      @alandacraft  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Melissa Edwards I think it was more how well it cut certain items. So in the video, you can see that not everything cut perfectly - some things worked better than others even thought it cut through everything we tried. We haven't actually tried anything else other than what is in this video except for leather and that cut perfectly.

      Lorina Kwatra We used that particular die in the video because it contained a number of different shapes both big and small. So we thought it would provide a good idea of how well the Sizzix could actually cut. Each die could potentially be different depending on the intricacy of the design.
