- It’s time to sail the Caribbean with Marella Cruises! I’m onboard Marella Voyager and the series begins with a cabin tour and review of one of the most different single inside cabins I’ve ever had (cabin 5073). Come with me and find out what’s so different about this inside cabin, its location, lots of insider hacks / tips, room service menu, and whether I’d stay in a cabin like this again! As it turns out, I wasn’t in this cabin for more than a couple nights but you’ll have to wait until the next vlog to find out what’s happened!

Well this is VERY different! Come onboard with me and find out what’s interesting about this 27 year old cabin!
We did our very first cruise out of Fort Lauderdale on this ship 25 years ago ! October 1999 , you never ever forgot your first cruise . We have done many many more since 😊.
I certainly was taking notes on this vlog, as I too booked the inside solo cabin on a guarantee basis. Honestly, I think I will be very happy staying in it, pillar and all ! I also hope to be placed so close to reception and the center of activity. As always, a great review that leaves me feeling very prepared.😀
I loooooved the location (and coffee port one deck above atrium stairs/reception)
Thanks for remembering us solo passengers Jamie - many forget we exist! Cabin looks acceptable to me & very good value for money - single bed 🤔 I was also wondering if Marella organise any solo 'get togethers ' that you know of ? Thanks Jamie 😀 merry Christmas 🎄 x
Yes they pop a letter in your cabin about solo meet ups ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much Jamie, I'm booked in this cabin next year and have struggled seeing the layout, I'm pleased it's got so many sockets, thanks again x
You’re welcome - an excellent location too!
Heard of these cabins, never seen one ! Needs tinsel and Xmas lights that pole ! 🎄☃️
Perfect for decorating!
Thank you to all of your travel vlogs this year. Merry Christmas to you Jamie and Maffoo
Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you for entertaining me with your content this year. Merry Christmas to you and Matthew.
Happy Christmas 🎄
Great price and cabin not too shabby, if I was going myself this would do me fine.
Merry Christmas to you both🎄🥂
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Enjoying this review , yes I’d happily stay in this cabin 😊 Merry Christmas to you and Maffoo
Happy Christmas 🎄
12:20 you mention a very large cupboard with a plug. This is where the fridge used to be. for some reason marella have removed all the fridges on their cruise ships.
Yes they did indeed (apart from some of the suites)
We had a similar pole in our cabin on Marella Discovery, 7064. Luckily, it was a large, outside one so wasn’t too intrusive but a bit awkward even so.
Good to hear
A quirky cabin indeed. Puts me in mind of my huge inside cabin on FO’s old Black Watch but much quieter. Looking forward to the rest of your adventures on this delightful older ship. Happy Christmas to you and Mafoo.
Oh yes I remember the lovely Black Watch!!
That was fantastic value for a solo fly-cruise. The cabin looks fine, and I prefer the single beds to a double.
I prefer single beds if on my own!
Jamie love your blogs really super funny and so honest ❤❤❤❤❤❤
@ thank you 🙏
@ thank youuuu
Merry Christmas Jamie and Maffoo luv Amanda and Tel have a good one
And to you too!
Hi Jamie 😊 the room is perfect for single occupation... the pole needs some padding around it lol very handy for some of the amenities too! The atrium looked lovely with its beautiful Christmas trees... Happy Christmas to you both 🎉 Neil and Ant 😊
Happy Christmas to you both
@TravelBlogJamie 🥰
I could do this- even though I’ve never tried an inside! Great value :)
I was so pleased with cost
@@TravelBlogJamie Absolute bargain- for a solo!
@ I snapped it up when I saw it!
That really is an awesome cabin for a solo. I'm surprised by the 2nd bed. They could have put a small sofa in it's place that converts to a 2nd bed. The storage is remarkable as well. You could do a world cruise in a cabin with that much storage. The price, including the airfare and drinks and solo fees is incredible. Wondering what Marella would charge someone from the US? I know the flight you were on was essentially a charter, but all in all, a GREAT value. Well done. Just spot checking airfares on a US Carrier the flight would be $1800 usd R/T
There were lots of guests from the Caribbean and USA on board by the way!
They should have had a nightlight on that pole!! Totally understand not having your head toward the door. Would have picked the same bed as you did. ❤
It freaks me out lol 😂
Been looking at prices of Marella cruises for single travelers and some cracking deals even with ocean view cabins. Could you have had a queen bed configuration in your cabin and no fridge. Really looking forward to seeing the cruise thanks as always Jamie. Does the pole come with a Dancer in room service.
No, the beds don’t work as a queen because of the pillar
Was on Voyager in February from Barbados and had serious issues with the glass shower door. Even with a towel the floor would flood. We also had a toilet that leaked from the base and maintenance had to be called twice in 2 weeks. We had to complain numerous times about the shower door and eventually the maintenance tried a door seal which helped a little bit. The beds were comfy and the cabin functional apart from our bathroom issues.
👍
Hi Jamie love the bathroom how big is the shower well that pole would be dangerous for me im accident prone and I would be constantly walking into it lol, but very handy of you want to practice your pole dancing skills😅 the tv has good movability good to see fantastic video merry Christmas to you and Mafoo have the most amazing time 💕💖
A lot of good pole dancers out there by all accounts 😂
Hmmm, maybe the pole is for a Maypole Dance, albeit a little late in the year 😂
Hmmm 🤔

Thank you 🙏
Love the term 'Butterfly your case' .......... much nicer than 'Spatchcock your case' 😂😂
I like that too lol 😂
To get that price as a solo, how far in advance did you book?
I booked 2 months in advance for this one
Love the mirror over the dressing table X we were on MSC Virtuosa in an outside cabin and had NO mirror to dry our hair or do makeup!!! The hairdryer was attached to the draw so unable to move it!!!!!! Rubbish!!!!
We had the same on that ship and remember drying my hair, using the window as a mirror!!! Very bad design
Win in that case!!
Apologies if you mentioned this later, I'm only a couple of minutes in 😅 if you look at pre-marella refit deck plans of Mercury all of that area was shops.
👌
So why were you upgraded?
I explain all that in the vlog about being upgraded
@@TravelBlogJamiewhoops missed that, such a teacher answer though!
@@dawndavies203 more the answer from someone trying to answer every message on here, I’d say
@ feeling duly told off
The lighting is way better in that cabin than Queen Anne's. You can actually see your way around. If you had Queen Anne's lighting with that cabin layout it would be like sleeping in a pole dancing club
Ha! Yes, good point
Oh, and you could be a role model for not gaining weight even though you cruise a lot. Well done!
Balance and moderation
❤❤❤
Feliz Navidad
Did you book a pole dancer's special perchance?!
I don’t need to - I pole dance like the best of them 😉
Caribbean cruise and no fridge...???
There are no fridges in Marella cruises apart from suites
@TravelBlogJamie I never knew that lol. That's Marella of the menu then if I haven't got a fridge to get my insulin in..
An unusual cabin, we dont like inside cabins but it looked OK, play some music and do some pole dancing! Maybe not, I will get my coat.
I love pole dancing 😉
@@TravelBlogJamie Brilliant reply. I hope the rest of the cruise goes ok. It is good to see the likes of yourself, Emma and others reviewing normal cruises. Ben and David, the lads on sail away, Paul and Carole plus a few others I cant remember doing the same. I hope the ones I have missed dont mind.
No bedside table? How stupid. I wear glasses and need somewhere to put them at night or I can't see where I'm going. What a naff room.
🙄
A little pole dancing maybe!
Apparently so 😉
