I absolutely love this watch and pay no attention to the complaints about it copying others. It might have similar design points but there's nothing else that exists like this on the market whatsoever. I just wish it was smaller - I tried it on and it wears massive! If it was smaller I'd buy it immediately!
I'm impressed by how your reviews are getting better and the style elements look more original and different in a refreshing way. Thoughtful analysis that made me re-think the watch, but lost me when I was reminded of the price. Nevertheless the BR05 deserved a better review and you did just that.
I love the colors in your videos. A lot of watch review channels have a tendency, intentional or not, to look rather monochromatic. But your videos are always so full of bright dynamic color ranges! Even at a glance, it gives the impression that your videos are more fun and playful - which they are. I can't afford almost any of the watches in your videos, and often have no intent on purchasing them if I could, but I always come back and click your videos because the content itself is good! One might say... You'reTerrific : )
What's funny is I literally was shopping this because of its beautiful blue dial against the medium Cartier Santos. I ended up with the Santos because I couldn't stop looking at its timeless proportions and balance of hard and soft. It was so quintessentially French with it's very geometric yet human-centric design. With one of the oldest histories in horology, it was a no brainer and worth the extra cost. I love your videos by the way! Such a clean aesthetic and concise viewpoint. Keep it up. You definitely have a visual niche all your own in the watch review video community.
I think the bigger issue was the price of the skeleton dial given it's a Sellita movement. That price does seem excessive to me accordingly. I wasn't a fan of this featured model until I saw it live when a friend purchased one and found myself very pleasantly surprised
Good take and vid. Appreciate your views and commentary on this timepiece. To add one point, I think that it is perfectly within the Bell & Ross design language historically and just an evolution of what a “normal” Bell & Ross BR-“x”very industrial form iteratively evolved into... a dressy model with the BR family.
I have the black dial version f this piece. Love it. Love that it’s different. I love seeing watches people wear. In a world where most people now wear an Apple Watch it’s cool to see people with Seiko SkX or Turtles or Tissot PRX etc. More so than just a regular submariner.
This watch costs just about as much as the IWC Mark 18 that we both own, also with SW300 movement. Although I think the bracelet is much more difficult to manufacture on the IWC, I'm not sure the finishing is any better than on the B&R..
I own the blue br05 on rubber (in fact I switched to a custom dark blue alligator) since a year now and I can tell you it will not leave my collection soon ! Really well made compared to the competition, it’s really worth what you’re paying and yes you can get it at around 20% off 😉 Its robust, unique, sporty and classy! I love it very much ! Thanks for the video which is very well made ! Cheers
I like this a lot more than any of the relatively recent “me too” stainless integrated bracelet gents inspired designs from multiple brands. The design stands on its own, and is really the only B&R that I like. The overly critical snobs who comment negatively about this watch miss the point. B&R doesn’t care about Genta, the RO, or nautilus. It’s just a design that works. I hope B&R continues to refine its minor shortcomings.
Strangely I was just looking at these in the dealer's window here in Limoges, France this very morning. They are much better in the flesh than in pictures etc. I was impressed I must say. But I also noticed that the standard black face watch is on sale brand new on Chrono 24, 900 euros cheaper than list price. However when browsing their web site this afternoon I found the BR05 Horolum which is totally wonderful. The big downside is that they are quite expensive watches and don't come with an in-house movement. But hey I do like them and am teetering on the edge here.
Been following you on IG but never visited your TH-cam channel, I regret not looking into it before, love your video style, the play with colors, textures and angles. Great video!
was that comparison to 42mm Explorer? Thank you! Do more of that in your videos! Because stated sizes do not necessarily look like it. I was just in Tudor comparing my beloved Pelagos 42 to a BB Burgundy with "not jubilee" bracelet, and the BB looked so much smaller, that I lost interest in it, while the 40mm Grand Seiko White Birch that I tried there looked absolutely perfect.
Loving your style of reviews as well as your refreshing thoughts. Personally, I like this B&R, however I actually think it could've been much better if it was even more Bell&Rossy... Specifically, B&R have normally had the most discrete date windows in the business and I can't for the life of me understand why they ditched their usual approach for this huge date window. I think of all their watches, this would've benefited the most from a discrete date and a 3 in its place to keep the fantastic symmetry so many of their watches excel at. In the same vein, I think if they would've simply shrunken the case of the BR 03-92 and added an integrated steel bracelet it really would've made this even more indistinguishably Bell & Ross. It's easy to image that by just looking at a picture of the BR 03-92 Blue Steel. Having said all that I think it's pretty amazing that you can now get such a high quality integrated steel bracelet watch for so cheap. Yes, the movement is low end but there's really no other alternative style wise even close to this price range.
Thanks for your review and perspective. Given the movement and positioning of B&R, I'd peg this more as a "$3650" kind of watch, but that's simply based on the comparison against other brands like Tudor, or even within the B&R catalog itself.
Is there any way for me to unsee that Invicta? I am a massive fan of Bell&Ross, and for me, I like what they do. I remember being on a plane flying to Leeds England to Uni and the magazine on the back of the seat had a Bell&Ross on it. I said then, I will buy one of these. This one is not for me. But, their Bellytank line is beautiful.
Ordered mine. Brand new from an AD for $3400 which i think would have made this watch more paletable for the masses when it was first released. I love it since its release, just never got to buying one until now.
Really superbly done! Love the colours and shots in this one especially. As for the watch, I don't know I really like it. However it still feels a little pricey for me, especially with what's available at 4k. By the way I would love to see you take on other luxury sports watches (e.g. Chopard's Alpine Eagle or Piaget's Polo S). - Han
I just think the movement should be in house for the price. The movement isn’t expensive so they are saying the rest if the cost is in the case and bracelet and I just don’t see it. On a good note I’m glad they have gone down to 40mm, one day perhaps they will see the light and do 38mm because I think for this style of watch that does wear big, 38mm would be the Goldilocks size. I wear 42mm luxury watches but I just cannot put a 42mm on and wear it daily with looking down and thinking "holy shit, that watch is big". To qualify my statement, I’m a diving instructor of 30+ years and I’ve worn some big watches.
For the vast majority of people the APRO and PPN will always be nothing more than a dream due to their ridiculously high prices so a €4000 watch with nods to them is fine by me.
which is better buy BR 05 with rubber/silicon strap or BR 05 with steel strap. Also, do rubber straps start fading over time, is it comfortable wearing it.
Very good review! I have the skeleton 05 and very happy with it. Looks great and feels soo comfy on the wrist. Homerun for Bell & Ross in my opinion. And yes the online keybord warriors, are all assholes who comment on watches that they didn't even see or wear in person. Buy what you like an love and don't buy what others think what a great watch is.

The Patek and ap were inspired by port holes.

It's kind of a waste of a square watch case to put a round dial on it.

It looks good to me. Better, even.
It's their best watch by a mile
Everything with an integrated bracelet is accused of copying AP; everything with submariner style hand is accused of copying Rolex. There are only so many shapes and designs out there. Eventually everything is gonna start looking like everything else.
You’re paying more than 4k for a subpar movement.
I love B&R originality. As for their copying the Royal Oak......so what. Many other swiss brands have as well.
Excelente video. 😀😀
Great review. Nice watch, a bit overpriced. Knitting is too dangerous a sport for me.
you got yourself a subscriber on my first video.
+1 for knitting
An exact copy of Mido 8016 😂
If it was smaller imo it would be perfect
