I like the recipe, I'm going to try it. ---> But I could never figure out why people cut the crust off of bread, that's the best part! I have never, and never will, cut it off, I like it. :)
Thanks, thats great cant wait to make them. Bet they are delicious still warm in a fresh salad. Im wondering how long you can keep them in a seeled container or bag if you wanted to make extra.
I made them tonight and they are just lovely! one thing I did find way easier is to cut the bread with scissors. The bread I used flattened badly when cut with a knife joining the bread slices together.
Thank you SO much for this video!! Hadn’t made croutons since I worked at Texas Roadhouse lol. Decided I wanted some croutons at midnight…start to finish in less than an hour and snack time 😁🤣😂!! I used a stick of butter, wheat bread and just sprinkled Greek seasoning on mine. Yummy! ❤️
@@jackcone8169 The little bags you buy just nets you like a handful. (you get what i mean) You can make much more croutons from a loaf. In the end, for someone who loves croutons, homemade is cheaper, and better quality. I need to lose weight so with my exercising, i'll need healthy foods, so i'm gonna eat some salad. So if i'm gonna eat salads, it better taste good. I'll need lots of croutons, and i don't wanna go to the store like every 5-6 days, just to buy more and more croutons.. I'd just rather get a loaf and make it myself, so it last longer.. you know?
I’m having problems opening your website with the recipe.. do you have the measurements to everything (including the butter) and did you use salted or unsalted butter? How long can you store these in a zip lock bag?
just check out a differnet vid with measurements and use any butter u want if ur using unsalted give it more salt to compensate and u can freeze them i reccomend that option for storing them then u can defrost in microwave or oven but idk how long they last in a ziplock bag
The recipe is no longer available at the link that you provided. :( Please consider putting the recipe in the information box so it is not at risk of being deleted. I really wanted to make this one.
It's funny, in my family we made our own croutons out of stale bread. I personally don't like store bought white bread since home made is far tastier. You can skip the butter altogether or use olive oil. I know some people prefer butter. Most of the flavor is in the seasonings so butter isn't really necessary and does not contribute that much to the flavor once it is in the salad and covered in dressing. I don't remember anyone in my family ever buying croutons.
Can anyone tell me what does it mean when the chef says "preheat oven" .. I know it literally means the over should be heated before placing food in it, but how long? Does it mean we turn on the Oven and wait for it to reach a certain temperature and then add the food item ??
Turn on the oven..wait until the light/indicator goes off when it reaches temp you have set...your oven is then "pre heated" then put your croutons in.
You said you used wax paper then you said it's baking paper. Those are two different papers. Wax paper is not meant to be used in an oven but baking paper is. Nevertheless, I will try this recipe 😊
It depends because how you do it the pens on like if you're gonna use it because mostly against Chris from when it's in the oven and then it dry but I would like mostly do not put it in anywhere cold because then it's gonna get Batum and and I wouldn't eat it past the year so yeah
Technically by the time you made your own croutons you still paid over 3 or 4 dollars. Butter Parsley Bread Pan Bowl Wooden spoon Electric Wax paper Oven Oh and living quarters By the ones from the store add more hot butter and seasoning to your liking put plastic wrap over them while still hot and then they will become softer. Now days it’s cheaper to take them out vs stay At home especially if u can find a 3 4 10. Deal
i find this easier because i already have all the things i need sitting at home anyways. if you regularly cook this is incredibly cheap. including electricity and equipment has nothing to do with the product. if i really wanted it could go to the dollar tree and get a container that handles heat and put it over a fire while using a stick to stir it. that’s not the point of making homemade food
Who else likes to eat croutons like your bag of chips?
REV NIGHTSHREK me that’s what I’m doing now
Me
I’m doing that right now.
REV NIGHTSHREK hahaha, whenever there are no chips or snack, I do that, lol!
I always loved croutons as a snack and on my salad. My favorite are actually the ones from the bulk barn, but homemade are the best.
For the benefit of the non Americans out there. Cook at 180 Celsius. 👍🍞
Thank you
Thanks so much.
Thankyou
thank you
Didn't see this comment and I was like my oven only has up to 250 degrees. Until I realized it was 350 Fahrenheit.... Burnt my 1st batch badly
watching this at 1 30 in the morning is my most favourite activity. Highly recommended. Very informative dave.
I like how he says “BREAD”
Same 😂😂😂😂😂
How else you're supposed to that?

Mr. Hood, I wish to thank you for sharing this recipe. I tried it tonight and they came out amazing!

There is NO comparison between packaged store croutons and homemade croutons. Simply Devine and cheers - great simple delicious video!
I agree. The store ones are better. This here is just toast.
I like the recipe, I'm going to try it. ---> But I could never figure out why people cut the crust off of bread, that's the best part! I have never, and never will, cut it off, I like it. :)
You can use the crust to make more croutons, and it tastes just as good!
Thanks!
Watching this in Covid 2021. Thanks for the yummy homemade croutons!
Thanks, thats great cant wait to make them. Bet they are delicious still warm in a fresh salad. Im wondering how long you can keep them in a seeled container or bag if you wanted to make extra.
Wow, it looks so simple and so tasty. Gotta try this one. Thanks for posting.
Tried it today - came out crunchy and tasty👍👍
Nice
wow so easy to make
I made them tonight and they are just lovely! one thing I did find way easier is to cut the bread with scissors. The bread I used flattened badly when cut with a knife joining the bread slices together.
Sharpen your knife, dear. :)
Electric knife. Get one and frustration is over.
made 'em.. delicious
I'll Try it
Thanks Dave!!! Very relaxing tutorial and simple to make
Why remove the crust ?

Just made these. Taste awsome. Thanks
Maybe you don't have crouton money but want croutons.
Nicole Fantastic you dont have $1.08 ???

@@CapnRetro u can freeze them too
Enjoyed your video. I'll try it, but I will use parchment paper instead because I don't like the wax taste when using wax paper.
You don't need paper at all.
Thanks for your tutorial I appreciate you
Only thing is suggest it change is no reason to waste the crust. Tastes just as good with it still on ... That's how I make them at least
Here is a thing that i do for extra snacks i make the edges that you cut out into a garlic knot just use the same recipe as the croutons on the video
I have a couple questions. Can the left over croutons be stored? If so, how would you store them! Thanks!
Baking on wax paper?
Thank you for the recipe Dave 👍
Lovely
Mate it's awesome love from India 🇮🇳
The crust makes the best croutons
Just found and definitely sharing. I found your video when trying to figure out what I could do with expiring bread. This is GREAT! Thanks.
Yeah, i was just gonna give it to my mom, as fish food. She feeds fishes at a little pond with my niece.

Do you like food without seasoning? Then don't use salt. Your questions simple... silly.

Great and simple recipe, but I’d say to use olive oil instead of butter. It makes it taste wayyy better~!
Yep. I use margarine and olive oil, sparingly. Without oil it's just buttered toast.
Thanks for sharing 🌻
You are so welcome. Hope you try it.
How long do they keep?
In airfryer the temp should be?
how much melted butter i tried following the link in the description but it doesnt excist any more
I just eyeball it, turns out fine.
@@CapnRetro To eyeball it you'd need to know a rough measurement. Or are you saying an eyeball-sized piece of butter?
@@Chris-im3ys Eyeballing as in the term. Mixed with going with the flow. :)
Go to store to get more ❌
Make my own even though my parents doubt me ✅

YES! I have everything that you need! :)
Love that feeling
I don't have garlic powder... Can i used chopped garlic or blend paste garlic??
Mix your garlic paste into melted butter
Oohhh that sounds amazing, thanks for that, Ka pai
I didn’t know you could put wax paper in the oven at that temperature- or at all, for that matter. Learn something new everyday! 😄
the crust croutons are the best ones
Great video

Awesome..👌👌😋
I love it!!!! Thank you.
Hi. You're very welcome.
Actually, I do all my new videos on my other channel called cooknshare. You might want to check that out, as well. There is a bigger selection there.
So how many calories is this?
how much butter do you use.
Can anyone tell me what does it mean when the chef says "preheat oven" .. I know it literally means the over should be heated before placing food in it, but how long? Does it mean we turn on the Oven and wait for it to reach a certain temperature and then add the food item ??

There's nothing on your website
You shouldn’t put wax paper in the oven. You can put parchment paper in the oven.
Good stuff☝️
Hmmm yammmmm😋
Your voice is so soothing 🙂
You said you used wax paper then you said it's baking paper. Those are two different papers. Wax paper is not meant to be used in an oven but baking paper is. Nevertheless, I will try this recipe 😊
If you know that, then you know you don't need any kind of paper at all.
thnx xd
After post malons and Jimmy's visit to the Olive Garden :D
how do you do it
My Question is - If we make croutons in bulk and want to store them for a month how will they remain crispy?
It depends because how you do it the pens on like if you're gonna use it because mostly against Chris from when it's in the oven and then it dry but I would like mostly do not put it in anywhere cold because then it's gonna get Batum and and I wouldn't eat it past the year so yeah
You shouldn't use wax paper in the oven because it can melt. Use parchment paper.
yeah i almost burnt my kitchhenn
Can u do crutons with Omicron?
I haven'seen this video to the end yet....but celebrate that food..is always much better "made in Home"that the one you can by...and no procesed....
Looks easy enough! But i think i will use parchment paper instead of wax paper. I don't want wax on my croutons. Tfs! 😂
is the temp in Celsius or Fahrenheit?
+simlover00 Hi. It's Fahrenheit. Hope this helps.
it does, thnx :)
lol 375 Celsius
The recipe disappeared 😭 can somebody tell me?
Let me check that out for you.
Will it taste the same with wheat bread??
Arianna Balgobin mostly, aside for the difference in taste from the different breads
You can eat croutons out of a bag like potato chips
This might be the only thing "regular" white bread is good for.
Love from india
Who eats crutons with soup 🍲 🍜 instead of crackers
I like to eat croutons with my tomato soup
Margarine works better because: oil.
375 degree Fahrenheit or celsius 😁
Fahrenheit but I would recommend using a Fahrenheit oven if you are if you are in the Europe because Fahrenheit is very very easy to work with
LoL 375 Celsius would be insanely hot 😅
how did i end up here 😁✊
"To crunchy"? This ain't it.
👍🍞😋🤤🤩😍🍞
I will try your recipe, but not the wax paper. I get enough wax in the chocolate I eat!
Terry Stevens buy better chocolate?
