I have been dreaming to make a device that fits a mini keyboard. Its form-factor brings so much imagination. I am looking forward to finalize the design. It is already really nice looking and gets me surprised when it comes to my sight. I think it is a good sign.

Good that you find the sound pleasing. I think it sounds better in person, I don't really have a good setup for capturing the real sound. Moreover, it feels really good to type on.
interesting device; I would see this being something on github to build yourself but as product I am not sure I would buy it, as it is a regular lcd screen device, based on a regular unix system board; so it is not less "distraction-free" than any other distribution you can set up yourself, if you have a minimal knowledge of how to prep your distro. Looks great for people new to the scene, curious to see how the trend goes with such standard LCD based devices, considering things out there like the devterm and the microconsole. I would focus more on the software side and sell that, more than the hardware, but good luck with your project!
The wide screen has its quirks and yet quite difficult to find the fitting purpose. I am quite lucky to end up discovering distraction free writing. Seems like a perfect place to find people who need those formats of devices

Haha. I follow quite closely with "distraction-free" writing theme. This can be really confusing for majority of audience and tend to end up saying - why not use a cheap laptop. To certain extent, it is true, if distraction free isn't a theme. For some, this device can come as an appreciation to the community with the understanding of distration free writing. For most people, would be - why? Not saying this is perfect solution, but I want to provide value to the writers who are looking for a writing device.

한국어 지원 가능합니다. 예전에 한국어 지원 문의가 있었는데, 기존 기기에서 지원이 안되서.. 이번에 가능한 하드웨어로 만들어 봤습니다. 이 기기는 리눅스 컴퓨터라고 생각하시면 됩니다. 터미널 베이스이고요. 예전에 도스 운영체제가 있었는데, 그 정도 수준의 인터페이스라고 생각하시면 좋을 듯 합니다. 그래서 파일 목록을 보거나 관리하는 것이 가능하고요. 구글닥스 연동은 어떻게 될런지 모르겠습니다. 아마, 좀 좋은 프로세서를 내장하면, 웹 브라우저를 구동할 수 있을 정도가 되서, 그 안에서 쓸 수 있을 것도 같은데요. 현재 장착한 (Raspberry Pi Zero 2W)로는 그래픽컬한 운영체제를 돌리기는 벅차서... 아마 웹브라우저까지 필요한 작업은 힘들 듯 합니다. 구글 드라이브를 통해서 작업 싱크하는 건, 계획하고 있고요. 백업하는 정도의 기능이 구현 될 수 있을 것 같습니다. I always wanted to create a cool looking cyberdeck. I am quite excited to have a device that runs Linux terminals on a wonky form factor. Also, a pretty good device to do distraction free writing.
Build guide should be prepared as soon as I discover the assembly path. At the beginning it is a bit messy the process. After going through several builds, I will get optimized steps. Then I will have the build guide up. In the repository, STL files are not yet stabilized. I am still making adjustments to get the placements right. I would wait until the build guide is relesed.
@@unkyulee thanks for the additional context! The Rev 5 was one of the motivating factors in getting a Kobra Max (400x400x450mm build volume) to replace my Anet A8 (220x220x240mm) 3d printer. I will try to contain my excitement and wait.
That would be really cool. I saw a video of a thermal printer customization that would roll in that way. It would print as it types and would roll the paper back and forth in such way. That was so particular way of generating a text. Loved it.
I really like this build. It's cyber punk vibe type writer. I hope to find some more enticing color comps, tho. I am sure people will come up with colors. Can't wait to see how it goes!

My native language is not english, can the keyboard be adapted for spanish language, add the letter ñ? also I'm not familiarized with the 40% keyboards how can I type the number keys and accents?. also do you ship to mexico? and how much shippment can cost? thanks in advance and again congratulations
Keyboard is based on QMK which is fully customizable with off-the-shelf software. I am quite sure spanish language is supported. One of the key purpose of this device was to build a device to cover Korean language... so I am sure Spanish should be covered as well. I do ship in Mexico. Cost details can be found from my tindie shop, link should be in the description. In the future, and actually my next build should be based on building a rather normal keyboard, staggered and slightly bigger in size. So, if this build doesn't fit you right. I recommend you to wait for my next builds. I iterate quick so new builds should come sooner that you expect.

It's Akko Creamy Blue switches. It's my favorite switch so far. It's not that clicky, it has a ever slight bump at the end of the key register and a great bounce. All and all, very fitting switch to mimic type writer feeling.
The keyboard is based on QMK Vial system which is a popular setup in the custom keyboard world. It is possible to customize the keyboard layout as you wish, and there are a lot of resources on achieving what you ask.

I restock limited amount per week and people can order at the restock until solds out. I can't manage back orders and can't handle too many orders at the same time. Reason being that I hand made all the builds.
I guess everything happens for a reason. I my journey of distraction free writing started with journaling and ended up discovering writerDeck, and discovered many commercial products in that regard. User in the writer community seems quite specific about the solution and it is difficult to find a fitting solution for many. I hope what I do widens options for them.
You should name your typewriting personal computing device models after Olivetti and Mario tchou. Wjst a world we would have had , had the disgusting usa junta not wanted to wrest computing away from the masses back then for ibm.
I have seen some olivietti devices. Not only type writers. But they DO catch my eyes every time. When I look at a calculator and was thinking "wow that's some hot piece of plastic" then it is written olivietti every single time. Curious how their beauty isn't seen much more. It's such a beauty even after so long time has passed.

As a russian speaking man I shall tell: useless. The less buttins u have - the more unconvinient it becomes. Thats why blackberry was never popular in Russia. In this way nokia was much better. 33 letters vs 26 but this device look interesting.

Me too. I got into "cyberDeck" at the end of last year, and all of this DIY journey started.

It's a linux machine so you can write small programs with python or lua. I like the wording non-smart... sounds much better than stupid typing device!

@@ghostchick5275 I should open tindie store in a week of time. There will be a way to make an order. I don't do reservations... I restock limited amount per week and people can order at the restock until solds out. I can't manage back orders and can't handle too many orders at the same time. Reason being that I hand made all the builds.

Word processors are great, though it's immensely vexing you can't find any new ones that are inexpensive.
I guess everything happens for a reason. I my journey of distraction free writing started with journaling and ended up discovering writerDeck, and discovered many commercial products in that regard. User in the writer community seems quite specific about the solution and it is difficult to find a fitting solution for many. I hope what I do widens options for them.

You should name your typewriting personal computing device models after Olivetti and Mario tchou. Wjst a world we would have had , had the disgusting usa junta not wanted to wrest computing away from the masses back then for ibm.
I have seen some olivietti devices. Not only type writers. But they DO catch my eyes every time. When I look at a calculator and was thinking "wow that's some hot piece of plastic" then it is written olivietti every single time. Curious how their beauty isn't seen much more. It's such a beauty even after so long time has passed.

does not ring my bell, not at all…
It is a Linux terminal interface. A bit difficult to discuss the user interface at that level.
