Oh that intro was SO good! Reminded me of Archie on HeeHaw! Hubby & I drove out by Archie's place a long time ago waiting for Volunteer Speedway to open. Been to many a race there. I really miss getting to go to races & just getting out riding. Thankfully, I have y'all taking me to some new places & revisiting some. This was great! Thanks so much! Y'all enjoy these trips! It was a beautiful day to get out & ride! Stay safe and God bless y'all! 🏎
@@realappalachia Oh those races are amazing! I'm partial to dirt tracks anyway, but that is one of the fastest tracks around! When you see the late models coming out of turn 4 & they're riding high in the front, one tire completely off the ground, it's awesome! Maybe y'all can put that on your bucket list! Hugs to you both!🤗

Melody and Shane , following you along these thoughts of southern charms , when Shane was talking about Archie Campbell, for some reason or not my mind took me to Dinah Shore and the song "Someone's in the Kitchen with Dinah".You two sure can spin a spell, and I sure did sit for it.God Bless you two!
You both are doing a great job. Love Melody's accent when she says "Yes!" Shane you crack us up with your wise cracks. I thought that fire extinguisher was a museum piece lol. You convinced me! Hey it was behind glass!
I’m so glad I found y’all on TikTok and you directed me over here. My Granny and Papaw lived here when I was young. Before there was a McDonalds up on the hill that y’all passed, there were houses there and that’s where they lived. Many weekends were spent there when I was growing up. I have nothing but fond memories of this place! Thank you!
Love this video but must confess I stopped it before the end and watched several videos of Archie Campbell... Seen them all about a million times but still funny.. still fresh .. and still as always simply perfect... Thank you two for an amazing video and a trip down memory lane.... And yes I did go back and finish watching the rest of your video
This is a neat little burg with a mix of interesting histories. I am a rail road fan and I love that part of the history of this place, it's history with Archie Campbell and that there is the thriving Yoder's market. It is something with the Yoder name in the Amish world. Yoders always will be the proprietors of a market like this in an area with Amish wherever they are or they have a company that makes Amish furniture, storage sheds or shipping pallets. It's too bad the old hotel looks to be in pretty sad shape. If it was reasonably doable to rehab it so it could be a hotel again and if that rail line through Bulls Gap is still active, it would bring in rail fans to stay there so they could enjoy the rail history and set up to watch and film trains roll by. Another one of your fun tours in Appalachia. Be safe out there ya'all.
You two have built such a wonderful channel together. It's really entertaining and reveals parts of America many people might not have known existed. Thanks!
You both are so Hilarious 🤣🤣🤣 It was such a great video I love all old towns . I would love to go visit Bully's Gap . My dad never missed an episode of Hee Haw . I loved all of his paintings. Loved to go visit the general store and the hotels . It would be great to see someone would buy the place just to restore it . Thank you both again for agreat ride 🙂
Thank you, Tracy!! We love these old towns too and wish we could just go in and restore all these old buildings. I hope that becomes a reality here! Thanks again for your support! - Melody
WOW! I really enjoyed this video. I have not visited Bulls Gap even though I lived in Tennessee for two years. Time didn't allow me to visit many places due to my position in the school district. Bulls Gap just looks like a loverly place and the history is out of sight! Glad you decided to visit Bulls Gap. Thank you the wonderful video. Stay safe and away from thirdary roads.
I remember watching Archie Campbell many times over the years and heard the name Bull's Gap mentioned. I wasn't aware it was a real place. It's sad to see the old buildings like the hotel in disrepair. As you mentioned, the cost of repair and upkeep makes them almost impossible to restore. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Met Archie a few times however i didn't know him but I grew up knowing his brother that everyone called Highball. He lived a few houses down from my grandparents.
I Love this and I Love yawls accents. ding dang it I Love it. Hee Haw Yawl!! I Love southern accents. Imma Tarheel Myself. thanks for the great video presentation!!
@realappalachia nice! We may have seen one another unawares. God bless you and yours. Edit: yes it was busy, the weekends normally are. It's really close to an Amish store in PA called Peight's. Maybe Mennonite?
Are you guys on the road all the time? How do you make so many of these or are they day trips? All that restaurant eating can sure sneak up on you quick!
I have lived here ten years and didn’t even know how it got its name haha love the video Also at 5:06 to the left the jeep Cherokee in the field used to be my parents 15 years ago Al little more info, the White House at 11:29 was a civil war hospital and is our “next door neighbor” more like next half mile neighbor though
When my uncle was still alive he used to tell us when he was a little boy and Bulls gap, him and the other kids used to sit around in a circle in front of the general store in Archie Campbell used to sit on the steps at the store and sing and play songs for the little kids
Great work ! And for complainers like Mary, maybe you could post a video of your computer desk, while Real Appalachia is celebrating America and it's it's history and beauty for the youtube community; close doors or not. Love the channel.
Wonderful intro. Better than even the great Archie Campbell. Watching this make a person want to yearn about living in a place like this. We must remember there was no tv, cell phones, internet, and maybe not even radio. Maybe read a local newspaper once a week. You actually had to go and talk to people to learn what life was about. Have, to tell you both, that your really getting good at your videos. Hey, I mailed you a small check which you should be recieving soon. But it won't say its from Talldude. LOL
You're too kind, thanks so much for the donation and the support of our channel. We were just talking about how with all the heaviness in the world today that it would be great to find a little piece of small town life to get away from everything. Coming to towns like this gives us a little taste of it if only for a day.
Great video. How long did it take you to do those opening lines ? That little town was like stepping back in time. The store had lots of good sounding food. Thanks for sharing. Melody, you looked as cute as a button in todays video.
Thank you, Julie!! You know it didn’t take us as long to do that opening as we thought. We were proud of ourselves haha! I tell ya, I got the Italian cream cake and Shane got the German Chocolate and that was some of the best cake we’ve both ever had! Thanks for watching! We’re so glad you enjoyed! - Melody
Shane you know that Br549 license plate that Jr. Samples held up at the end of each show has quite a story behind it.He was a great friend of Hank Williams and they made a pact and whoever died first the other would try to contact the other in the afterlife! They would hold up the others licence plate and concentrate on it.They both believed deeply in this , that is why Jr., unbeknownst to the audience(you, Melody, and me)was sincerely trying to use the audiences powers to contact Hank! Not many people knew this, and still don't! Remember how Jr.used to shut his eyes and squinch, and it would get real quit, then the audience would start to titter, and laugh! Nobody had a clue.Thats straight from Roy Acuff's mouth! So you see what you stirred up?
Now THAT is an amazing story. I forgot that was kinda common back then. The old singer Johnny Horton supposedly did communicate like that after his death in a car wreck. Thanks a ton for sharing that here.

How true on always being late. You go to alot of neat places, but you never go to these places when they are open. It would be nice if you would go so we could see the inside of the interesting places. Is there a reason for this. I see no reason to watch or listen to you for a hour or so of watching you drive then when you get there you remind us you didn't get there in time to see the inside of the place.
