Guided Meditation: You Cannot Have Your Cake and Eat It

  • In this guided meditation, Rupert explores two concepts - ajātivāda and vivartavada.
    Rupert says: ‘Vivartavada is the idea that the world is an illusion - it is real but not what it appears to be. It just appears to us the way it does because we view it through the lens of perception. And this is the level on which most of the highest non-dual teachings are given.
    ‘Ajātivāda is the highest non-dual understanding, and it is very rarely spoken of. It is the idea that there is no creation, no world, no universe - that nothing exists. There is not even the appearance of a world from this point of view. This seems to conflict so profoundly with our experience that it is considered too profound even to speak of.
    ‘I want to try and say something about this ultimate point of view to somehow bring it into our experience so that it’s not just some abstract philosophical idea beyond our comprehension. And in order to do so, I get to use a very well-known colloquial English saying, namely: “You cannot have your cake and eat it.” You might be surprised to learn that it contains the highest non-dual understanding.’

    Buddha said about a "Patisothagami Maggha". Which means the backward path. Rupert is explaining it brilliantly. Specially being able to use a spiritually weaker language like English to this degree is amazing. Eastern languages are rich when it comes to spirituality. But ultimately every language fails when it comes to the ABSOLUTE. Any way this guy is brilliant. Really hope one day will have a chance to meet him. Love him.😍

      @@EnergiCodesHeaven is Within. I will post my own public video. This video of meditation is missing reverence for God as the Father spirit of all spirits. Rupert sees God like a ignorant machine, but God is an all knowing presence of space that underpins all things. God is far greater, and so are we as his children, than Rupert claims. Even his face distorts as he speaks certain blasphemies. I will make my own response video, detailed. His POV is only true of one who has yet to humble himself before the LIVING God, not an ignorant machine, and pray, asking the Father to confirm who he is. Such is called the Holy Anointing. This happened for me Nov 2022 on my profile testimony. I remember when I was near Ruperts stage, and now I revisit his videos, and I see he has not progressed, but digressed. My response videos will be directly to you Rupert, professional, beginning a conversation. I've heard your POV, now I will share my own, in depth.

    We know by being in relationship to the other. In being we are in union. They appear to contradict each other. We are in union and relationship, ‘both/and’, not ‘either/or’. A paradox the mind cannot grasp, but nevertheless is. An impossibility which exists.

  • @info8595
    @info8595 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +12

    Many of Rupert ideas reflect core principles of Sufi metaphysics that have been articulated for centuries by Sufi masters like Al-Halaj, Suhrawardi, Ibn Arabi, Rumi and many more.
    These teachings emphasize the unity of existence, where all forms and phenomena are seen as manifestations of the Divine. Ibn Arabi’s concept of Wahdat al-Wujud (Unity of Being) and Rumi’s poetry about the interconnectedness of all things both illustrate the idea that the Divine permeates every aspect of the universe.
    This perspective sees the ego as an illusion of separation, which must be transcended to realize the underlying unity. Spira’s discussions on non-duality and the nature of consciousness echo these timeless Sufi insights, showing a deep resonance with the metaphysical explorations of the Sufi tradition.
    However, the core difference lies in the interpretation of the world’s reality: Ajata Vada views it as an illusion, whereas Islamic mysticism/Sufism sees it as a real manifestation of the Divine.

    • @SisypheanRoller
      @SisypheanRoller 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      ...and the Sufis got it from somewhere else. These ideas are incredibly old and only vary in small details when expressed by the many branches of thought they spawned.

    • @info8595
      @info8595 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You are correct that many spiritual ideas are ancient and expressed in various traditions.
      However, Sufi teachings, are uniquely rooted in the divine revelations received by Prophet Muhammad, the greatest and the seal of the prophets (peace be upon him), and his twelve successors (the Imams), who are the greatest manifestations of the truth in all realms.
      These teachings confirm and aligns with the wisdom of earlier prophets like Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (peace be upon them), making them profound insights directly inspired by divine knowledge.
      While these concepts may appear similar across traditions, Sufi teachings are deeply connected to the prophetic tradition, providing a cohesive and unique understanding of spiritual truths.

    • @melissag9685
      @melissag9685 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The Rishis intuited this Truth thousands of years before the Sufis came along. But Islamists have to believe they have the "final prophet" and are the "final word" on Truth. That is a sign of clinging to an ego with limited understanding. True wisdom is the Universal One, revealing itself to any and all who are truly open.

    • @info8595
      @info8595 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The assertion that Rishis intuited this Truth thousands of years before the Sufis, and that belief in the “final prophet” is a sign of ego, demonstrates a misunderstanding of the nature of Islamic teachings and Sufism.
      While it is true that various traditions have their own profound insights, it is essential to recognize the distinct perspectives and foundations they are built upon.
      Islamic mysticism, or Sufism, is deeply rooted in the teachings of the holy Quran and the life of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. The belief that he is the “final prophet” is not an expression of ego but a core tenet of Islamic faith, signifying the completeness and finality of the divine revelation given to humanity.
      The holy Quran states in Surah Al-Ahzab (33:40):
      • Arabic: مَّا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَا أَحَدٍ مِّن رِّجَالِكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن رَّسُولَ ٱللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًۭا
      • English: “Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the seal of the prophets. And Allah has full knowledge of all things.”
      This concept is not about limiting the understanding of Truth but about recognizing the culmination of divine guidance through a line of prophets, including Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, peace be upon them all. Sufis recite and reflect on these teachings, understanding that their mystical experiences and insights are deeply intertwined with the revelations of the holy Quran.
      Islamic mysticism emphasizes that the divine reality is present in all things, and the apparent forms we perceive are manifestations of the divine attributes. The verse from the holy Quran (2:115) underlines this omnipresence, indicating that wherever one turns, there is the Face of Allah.
      True wisdom, as understood in Islamic mysticism, acknowledges the unity of existence and the divine origin of all knowledge. It does not negate the value of other traditions but places the finality of the prophetic mission within a context that enriches and completes the understanding of divine revelation.
      Therefore, the assertion that recognizing Prophet Muhammad as the final prophet is a sign of ego is fundamentally flawed. It overlooks the profound spiritual and theological framework of Islam, which emphasizes humility, submission to the divine will, and the recognition of the interconnectedness of all prophetic teachings.

    Thanks Mr. Spira.. I had one realisation which I wanted to share about being grateful.. Most of us have been grateful about what we have that other unfortunate person doesn't for eg. financial security, warm place to stay, health.. This is what have been taught by society but it is so wrong to be grateful in this way cuz it would justify someone's situation of not being able to afford basic amentities that we are grateful about.. We want someome to be unfortunate so that we can be grateful about how fortunate are we to have these basic amenities.. This makes me sad as these are the things taught by my own parents, this is not being grateful but to look dowm upon others in not so harsh way.. Gratefulness is quality of being, accepting every moment as it is, not wanting to change, run or suppress it is quality of being grateful..

      In a curious box, a treat does reside,
      Both whole and eaten, in paradox it hides.
      Unseen by eyes, it’s fresh and grand,
      But once revealed, it slips from your hand.
      To have it and taste it, a choice you must make,
      For once it's devoured, it's no longer at stake.
      This puzzle perplexes, a quantum-like take,
      The enigma known as Schrödinger's cake.

    Hola ¡ molt veritat i interessant el que diu Rupert, hi ha una cosa que tinc molt present que es la distinció d'una mateixa cosa , precisament es en distinció com es presenta aquí la conciencia infinita absoluta que no sap res i ho es tot al mateix temps, tot es distint únic irrepetible d'aquesta Cosa no dos . Per ser l'altra desde aquest res - alguna cosa, la distinció - que soc i es l'altra, per ser lo altra no cal que deixi de ser aquesta distinció que soc doncs l'altra també ho es , desde la distinció podem entrar a Això únic que ho es tot al mateix temps que res

    You also assert in the video that the world is an illusion, real but not as it appears.
    This perspective still misunderstands the depth of divine manifestation. The world is not merely an illusion but a true and continuous expression of God’s attributes. The forms we perceive are real manifestations of the Divine, revealing His infinite nature in myriad ways.
    The perception that the world is not what it appears should not lead to the dismissal of its reality. Instead, it should drive us to see beyond the superficial and recognize the divine essence in every aspect of creation. This is not an illusion to be transcended but a reality to be deeply understood and appreciated.
    God’s continuous self-disclosure (Tajalli) through the world means that every moment and every form is a new revelation. To call this an illusion is to miss the profound truth that the world, in its diversity, is the theater of God’s self-revelation.
    Your view that the world is real but illusory in its appearance still fails to grasp the full extent of its significance.
    The world’s appearance is a direct and necessary manifestation of the Divine. Recognizing this transforms our perception from seeing illusion to witnessing the true essence of God in all things.
    Thus, the world is not to be dismissed as illusionary but embraced as a profound and ongoing revelation of the One True Reality.

      This is addressed beautifully at around 19 mins. It is not nothing or everything. It just is!

    • @info8595
      @info8595 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Your statement, “It is not nothing or everything. It just is,” oversimplifies a profound truth.
      The essence of being is not merely that it exists without context or meaning. According to the teachings of great Sufi’s like Rumi, Sadi, Hafz, AlHalaj, Ibn Arabi etc. being is the continuous self-disclosure of the Divine.
      Every moment, every particle, and every event is a direct manifestation of God’s attributes.
      To say “it just is” without recognizing the divine attributes that infuse all existence is to misunderstand the very nature of reality. Everything in the universe is a reflection of God’s infinite names and attributes.
      This understanding goes far beyond the notion of being as a simple, static existence.
      The Divine is not a distant, passive presence. God is actively involved in every aspect of creation. Each moment is an opportunity for the Divine to reveal Himself in new and dynamic ways. The world and everything in it are filled with divine purpose and significance.
      To grasp the true nature of being, one must see beyond the superficial and recognize the deep interconnectedness of all things, reflecting the One True Reality. Your view reduces the richness of divine manifestation to an oversimplified concept, which does not capture the profound reality of God’s presence in all things.

      What I don't understand about Ruperts message is that he gives a seeming reality to a localised finite mind, through which the world of form seemingly appears. How could empty awareness that doesn't know itself and can't be anything other than it's empty nature localise itself in that way?

    • @davidalbro2009
      @davidalbro2009 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Whole lot of projection and assumption in this comment.
      Rupert said that reality is illusory. This is 100% true. Rupert never said or implied that this illusion isn't profoundly important.
      On the contrary, Rupert goes on to speak about the necessity of the illusion of separation in order for being to know itself.
      You just used an elementary-level logical fallacy and many people are applauding.

    I can follow Rupert when he’s talking about how we cannot know ourselves except by being ourselves, because otherwise we are mistaking ourself to be an object in the world of experience. However, whenever he starts talking about the “point of view of the universe” and how we are merely viewing infinite consciousness through a local, finite mind, he completely loses me. This always hits me as some weird intellectualization that has nothing to do with direct experience and in fact seems to reinforce a notion of duality between finite minds and infinite consciousness. I cannot find what he is pointing to either experientially or intellectually.
    And listening to Rupert talk, it always seems to me like he is imagining a Self or an infinite consciousness that cannot know itself but somehow exists. Why? Why not just say there is no self/Self standing apart? He seems to posit the Absolute as a thing that can never be known yet exists. But if it can’t be known then positing it’s existence is mere intellectualization totally divorced from the reality of direct experience right? A Self that cannot know itself but can know objects is the very essence of duality, right? Rupert seems to posit an unseen and unknowable Self “behind” experience. Why do this? I’ve never understood this on any level. Is there something I’m missing? Is “awareness” all he really means by “Self”? Please help if you can
