  • This is for gigging musicians using backing tracks with the Boss RC-5 Loop Station. It covers USB import of tracks created on your DAW and a number of topics I didn't see discussed yet on TH-cam or in the manual, blogs etc., and exporting in 32 bit float and 44k

Thank you so much! I just received my RC-5 and wanted to use it tomorrow to play back a track at band practice. You saved me a ton of time and made it possible to use the next day.

Yes, they are tracks I recorded on Cubase. I use android. Apple can be problematic with this kind of thing in my experience. You'd probably have to go through itunes or some other hurdle.

It is a very good product, but changing each time the name of the tracks one by one by hand is a nightmare! Why it does not get it from the file name or any tag ?

I use this little program (RC-5Edit-main) to rename track names, volume, one-shot, etc. on my computer screen while connected to the RC5. It is very fast to change names of tracks now. However, note that once you save the file in this program, you have to replace both the MEMORY1.RCO as well as the MEMORY2.RCO files with this file that you have saved (the file you have saved from this program can be located wherever your PC saves downloads).

Ok I just added 16 backing tracks and they all sound great. Had to adjust the volumes a bit. but I used Audacity to convert them to 44.1 32 bit floating stereo WAV files from my Mp3 stash, and just dragged them to the individual folders. This pedal is a blast! clean sound with the 32 bit engine.

Question? I’m just started using RC5 for backing tracks. I took from a sequencer keyboards and drum machine 75 backing tracks running all mixed into a board and then recording all these songs one by one naming songs setting output levels so they all Mach each out in playback In to RC5. They sound great and I do t have to carry all the keyboard Modular’s around anymore.
I could down load them onto laptop to backup these tracks. Once in laptop can I change the track order so I can use them in according to the sets I play with this live? I have the A and B pedal to work songs up and down. But it would be nice to have them in a order like I could do on my sequencer playing them in set order? Thanks

I've been using a Digitech Jamman solo xl to play backing tracks for years with no problems! The difference is...I record the tracks straight into the Jamman in real time as a one shot long loop (not importing via USB wav files from my DAW). The RC-5 is much better than the Jamman...it has better resolution, you can name loops, set levels on each loop and more. Just my 2 cents! lol

You can record directly onto the rc5 if you want. I think you're missing the gist of the video these are backing tracks that you can put on here. It's not just a track of a guitar or Bass being recorded. For instance I use the rc5 for the exact same thing because my band doesn't have a bass player and to be honest we don't need one or want one so I play all the bass parts on my daw . And import the files that works for me but I can record directly on to the rc5 if I choose but I have more options with my daw.

Now I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Notebook. It's one of the older ones but it does have Bluetooth which is handy live. I'm putting all the wav files on an SD card and playing them back with the VLC player. Do yourself a favor and do not create a playlist. The playlist won't allow you to stop after each song. Just go to tracks and play the songs from there.
