  • This will have major consequence for resellers if you don't become aware of it! Australia Post have put their prices up substantially. How does it affect you or your customers.

    Great video! For books that can't go as a large letter, but are still under 500g I'd recommend using your own generic satchel and printing a label from AusPost MyPost Business. Even on Band 0 it will cost $10.60 at the worst, and as low as $6.36 on Band 5 in zone 1. Over 500g you can use the flat rate small satchels that cost $18 for 100, and then the same rates I've mentioned here for up to 5kg.

    me again, small time seller , full time delivery at post, , yes prices have gone up they always announce letter increase but not parcel increase, and i can tell you all, they are cracking down on all the people who just put a stamp or two or three on a small parcel and then put it into a street clearance box ( red box) as a postie i see around 60bucks daily in underpaid postage and thats just one person, its a huge problem for Austpost, but great video, my only worry with books in the green document envelope is the level of care for delivery, ie be being bent or folded into letter box. so there u go , a view from the other side, :)

      I really appreciate that! Always interesting to get more information! Yes another TH-camr suggests the stamp thing, i strongly disagree. Not fair on our customers

    Don't forget ebay also take fees from shipping so add 15% to your shipping cost or you are out of pocket

    NZPost is the same. Prices have been hiked hugely at least 3 times in the last couple of years. Makes it really tough for resellers.

    Aus post’s answer is to always hike prices up. Their business model is unsustainable, and we’re in desperate need of a major competitor like a USPS style carrier.

    I knew they were going up and only bought an extra pack of each - silly me! Great for t-shirts too - just sent 2 pairs of socks in one yesterday. Ties also would fit in here.

    You gotta remember ebay fees apply to postage charges. Aus post is a disgrace, but this is what corporate business model creates.

    I buy the envelopes (both medium and large) 50 at a time as i use them abit but i am a full time book seller with over 10,000 listings. I am trying to get away from selling single books that fit in those envelopes though and this price hike certainly confirms thats the change i need to do.

  • @twgstwgs

    I can’t stand Australia Post. These envelopes now cost about as much as I pay for small parcel post (with a Band 5 discount). Explain that one…

    I looked at mario kart on the wii and on ebay it was £10 the postage to get it was £20 so £30 for a £10 game it's hard enough trying to fund the games without the postal service taking advantage of the collectables market plus usually it's a kids toy they are slamming which is disgaceful. I'm not buying much at the moment from Japan & Austrailia because the shipping costs are just ridiculous and unless it's something really special that I can't do without I am holding out till a UK seller puts it up 😊

    Off track here I can't understand ebay sellers on one item that's really sort after sell through rate is high and other sellers really knock down the prices to quickly get a sale before you know it profit margins are low and not even worth it or just lost 50% profit 🤯👀 anyone experience this ?

    • @geelong-flipper
      @geelong-flipper  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Absolutely. Great point too. I don’t follow the low pricing strategy. I find my customers don’t trust a price that is too low and I pride myself upon honest descriptions and fault clarification. I’d rather sell something for $20 when the rest of the market is at $10 knowing that my customer is getting total transparency about the condition of their item.

    I bought 250 before the price rise, but that's a lot tied up in storage. Should see me through till the end of the year though. If you are doing a lot of posting get an Australia Post business account, the more you send the more you save (I use the Aus Post plastic envelopes that cost about 18c each in bulk). I agree with the cardboard but I also use clear envelopes (about 10c each) to protect the book in the cardboard as well.
