    I'm missing one, but very important factor, that is Waveforms Per Second. For Rigol it is 30 000 WFS, while for Siglent it is 100 000 WFS in normal mode and 400 000 WFS in sequential mode. For Siglent, in single mode, you can always walk through last few-few hundred triggers, depending on currently set sampling rate and memory depth (like in sequential mode). What's more, you can apply decoders to the stored waveforms. So you can capture not one, but hundreds of I2C or CAN frames, and look through them afterwards.

    wow, i have a siglent sds1104 4ch scope and it works great! i don't get very concerned about the very most it will do because i rarely get close to these settings. 😎 nice video.

    Thanks for the review. One thing to note about the Rigol is that it can be bumped to 100Hz bandwidth with a software update. I still don't know which one to buy.

      Unfortunately you lose your warranty once you apply the trick to upgrade the bandwidth of your DS1054Z.

    • @CrashPCcz
      @CrashPCcz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think that Siglent might be able to bump to 200MHz, but I would call usability rather low. Wanting to measure THD via FFT, so hopefully SDS1202X-E was good choice.

      Sure. Void the warranty or brick your scope. Most of these scope "hacks" on youtube are bogus and are years old, no updates to the hacking.

      @@NeverTalkToCops1 Are you serious? This scope was hacked last decade. The whole “warranty void” FUD makes no sense given that you can just revert the firmware

    Hello! could you give an advice on which would be the better scope for replacing an analog one? My main application is repairing vintag electronics, like home cmputers, floppy drives and also HiFi-hardware. I often needs eye patterns for example. First I tried an Hantek DSO2D15 and immediately sent it back, when I noticed it couldn't apply simulated display persistece in stop mode. I think having a fast refresh and good persistence emulation is essential .. but I am not sure. Which one would e your reommendation? Thanks! :)

      Take a look at the Siglent SDS1104X-E. It is slightly more expensive than the models in this video, but offers great value: eleshop.eu/siglent-sds1104x-e-oscilloscope.html

    The Siglent can do bode plots if you buy a Siglent function generator. Thats a nice feature.

    • @EleshopVideo
      @EleshopVideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The bode functionality is reserved for the SDS1104X-E and not available on the cheaper X-U model. It is a great feature on the X-E however :-)

    • @EleshopVideo
      @EleshopVideo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my opinion there is no significant difference in this regard. For a newbie both are challenging to use for the first few times.

    I know the Rigol is a big favourite with Dave Jones but does the fact it’s been in production for so long not make it older technology? I'm really torn with these two.

    • @EleshopVideo
      @EleshopVideo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Technology is indeed older, but that doesn't matter so much. When Dave reviewed the DS1054Z, the Siglents were not on the market yet, so take that into account when you watch those old videos.

    Hi,
    beginning at 0:28 You listed the samplerate specification of the Siglent wrong.
    Its a 2+2channel oscilloscope featuring 2ADCs. Hence You can sample 1 or 2 channels at a rate of 1Gs/s and 3 or 4 channels at 500Ms/s.
    Besides that, it has considerably greater functionality like the advanced Bode plotting, a integrated and very responsive Webserver, it allows to rename the channel-markers individually, etc. etc.

      Sorry, mixed up the SDS1104X-E and X-U

    • @EleshopVideo
      @EleshopVideo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Calvin, what you say is true for the SDS1104X-E, but not for the X-U version, which is a budget version.

    I think the Siglet EX variant would have been a better choice to review. Because of it's price drop and extra features. There is free firmware upgrade for the Rigol 1054z to 100Mhz

    • @EleshopVideo
      @EleshopVideo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Now the price of the SDS1104X-E has dropped people should definitively look into buying the SDS1104X-E instead of the models compared in this video. It is still 20% more expensive however, but the 2nd ADC alone it worth the additional price imho.

    do they have both good web interface ?

    • @EleshopVideo
      @EleshopVideo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both the DS1054Z and the SDS1104X-U don't provide a web interface. They can be accessed over the network with applications from Rigol and Siglent however. If you are looking for an oscilloscope with a web interface I would recommend the Siglent SDS1104X-E to you. It is the more extensive version of the X-U which is reviewed in this video. It offers dual ADCs and a web interface.

    Music distracts/detracts from an otherwise good comparison. If you decide to keep the music, dial it down 6dBs min. In the end, it is totally unneeded.
