    Warning: Playing with hex settings on your oscilloscope can turn it into a brick. Make sure that you have adequate knowledge of oscilloscope functions and computer knowledge before you attempt this. Although steps have been taken to ensure the accuracy of this video, I cannot be held responsible for any damages of any kind. Good luck!

    In the process of activating my options, I noted the following:
    1) You definitely have to roll back the firmware. The SCPI for the later version will *LOOK* like it accepted the memory dump command, but it will not generate the MEMDUMP.BIN file. Also, for easy copy and paste, here's the command:
    SHELLCMD cat /dev/mem > /usr/bin/siglent/usr/mass_storage/U-disk0/memdump.bin
    2) In my version of the SDS1204X-E (purchased 01/20/2023) , the license keys were actually split up into two different memory locations:
    The first location was at 0xB2B9FE8 for 0x18 bytes (1st full key and the first half of the 2nd Key).
    The second location was at 0xB6B9000 for 0x28 bytes (second half of the 2nd Key, and then keys 3 and 4).
    When you find the first key, enter it into the search bar of your Hex Editor and locate the second and you will find the second part of the Key Block.
    Just copy both segments into a text editor as 4 rows of 16 characters. Note that the 4th key is again the same as the 1st key and can be disregarded.
    Other than this little hiccup, the process worked like a charm! Thank you for posting this. Great information!

    Way outta date this method when you can instead use an online python script that generates the 'official' licenses that can be installed manually or via the webserver SCPI command page. Works for several Siglent models and instrument types.

      I was able to read a 315MHz signal without issue. Your front end won't be negatively affected by any signal so long as the voltage doesn't exceed the rated spec.

    The only thing I am interested in was the ability to control the scope on the computer, and it appears you already can do that without paying or hacking it as long as you’re ok with running an Ethernet cable.

    • @Bakamoichigei
      @Bakamoichigei ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That can cause issues with the scope's readings (and possibly even safety!) unless you want to spend $$$ to opto-isolate the ethernet cable. Using this hack to unlock their absurd-ass $75 """license""" you can use a $10 wifi dongle in the rear USB port. 👍

    • @SHUTUPYAFACE
      @SHUTUPYAFACE ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bakamoichigei what do you mean… the thing has an Ethernet port built in. I’m saying I’m fine with using it un-hacked because the features I need are already included.

    • @Bakamoichigei
      @Bakamoichigei ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SHUTUPYAFACE Hooking an un-isolated ethernet cable up to an oscilloscope can introduce unwanted interference. I honestly don't know why they have ethernet ports on these inexpensive scopes, because at that price point they're obviously not isolated as-manufactured, and it'd cost the end user at least 1/4 the price of the scope to add an isolator in-line on the ethernet cable... 😬
