    My dryer stopped heating right before the holiday season and I needed to save money for hosting. It turned out it was my thermal fuse. I don’t know how much it would have cost me to have it serviced, but I am guessing it would have been a lot more than the $13.66 I ended up paying for the part. Thank you so much!

    You certainly helped me. I got into the 240v outlet, found a loose wire AND A FIRE HAZARD. FIXED IT with a new outlet, eight bucks.

    I walked through this easy to follow video and confirmed it's the heating element that's gone bad. Many thanks for this tutorial!

    Thank you for the informative tips! I followed your instructions and found out that I had a bad cycling thermostat. The appliances stores in my town do not have the OEM parts; however, one of the stores had a compatible one for $15. Took it home, installed it, and now it works like new! Thank you!!!! BTW, your instructions are so easy to follow; even a caveman like me can follow it :).

    I flipped my breaker and made sure the dryer was plugged in all the way and its heating now! Thank you.

      @maureenazevedo6219 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m really curious about how flipping the breaker solved your problem.🤷🏼‍♀️ I just assumed, if the dryer turns on, (regardless of the fact that it’s just blowing cold air) then that wouldn’t have anything to do with the breaker???
      I’ve already replaced the thermal fuse, but evidently that wasn’t the problem.☹️

      @@maureenazevedo6219 Early in the video they explain that 1 of the 2 breakers can go bad or be off, and if it happens then 120v will still be enough to run the dryer without heat

    Hello! Great video, I went through and tested everything for continuity and everything checked out. Any idea what it could be if none of the problems mentioned in this video were it?

    I do believe what I found should be added to all post about electric dryers. I had gone through all the steps checking out my dryer. it had the correct voltage and all parts seemed to function as they should. upon further checking I discovered the receptacle on my dryer was loose and causing all kinds of different issues. After replacing it my dryer is working and I had already ordered a timer as a lat resort. When I check the voltage with my meter it showed the correct voltage , but when the dryer started with the plug loose in the receptacle it caused the voltage to drop and in fact I probably didn't have 240 at times. This is probably not a common problem but one that should be checked!

    Good video. Just 1 note, you only need to remove 1 wire from items to isolate them from the circuit to test.

    Also, the high limit thermostat can continuously trip if the vent is clogged.

    I like the vid but wish you would have shown what you had to take off to get the back off. My dryer looks like one in your vid and looks like the top has to come off in order to get the back off. Guess I will have to figure it out.

    if you tested the two purple wired on the cycling thermostat would show if the heating ele is good/bad?

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You would need to test the element to determine if that part has failed.

    Question: bought a used dryer for X and it dries great, but seems to get too hot? Is it possible someone put a termofuse higher that what was called for? and or bypassed it altogether? ty

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is possible someone put in a part that is not what the manufacturer recommends for the unit. You will just want to check to make sure it's not been bypassed, because that is a safety issue. Overheating can also be caused by a lack of air flow, so you can check the blower wheel and housing and make sure there isn't a lot of lint build up restricting the air flow.

    Why did you have to unplug the high limit thermostat to test it? You didn’t with the others you tested.

    Hrmm, I tried checked all 5 troubleshooting points but still having intermittent issues where it won't dry. I also tried flicking and tapping each part too in case of loose coonection---no luck. What now?

    When I tested the thermal fuse I got a reading of 1.98volts is that an issue? Everything else tested fine.

    • @adude9205
      @adude9205 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Step 0 is to unplug the dryer, so it should list 0 volts. The test in the video is resistance, not volts. It should read that the fuse has continuity between both sides

    I have a question I have a dryer it's not heating at all there's no heat coming out of it but it is turning on and it is isolating but the isolation won't go off by its self I actually shut it off myself when the clothes are actually done drying which takes like 5 hours because there's no heat what could the problem be? Sometimes I fall asleep in the dryer runs all night please help.

    • @tcrlightemup4343
      @tcrlightemup4343 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please get a new one or have a professional look at it. It is extremely dangerous to run an already malfunctioning dryer. More than likely there is a sensor in the dryer that is malfunctioning, hence it doesn't turn off

    I have a Kenmore Series 200 electric heater. The wall plug-in is 110v, not 240. The drier spins and the fan is working, the heater is not. I will check the fuse.
