JerseyBorn had that happen to him. Where his SP had a year long injury and came back with no stamina. He made him a lights out closer. Think you should do that with Saldana. That'll get his trade value up. Maybe deal him in the next off-season
Definitely could see us moving on from him next offseason. Maybe I can use him in the Stopper role to increase his value a bit, not sure that I want to mess with Heilman as our closer right now. Although with a huge lead in the division we could afford to.
@oldschoolsports exactly, n the closer role is more high profile. If Saldana's abilities are still affective, it's the best way to get the most for him while still not hampering this season
@@scottdonavin7500 I hear you, definitely makes sense he'll be more valuable on the trade market if we make him a closer and he gets 20 saves the rest of the way, I'm considering it!
Strangely a lot of the batters seemed to be a bit below par in their numbers and yet overall the team is stellar in almost every category. The sum of its parts and all that. Disappointing that Alcindor isn't taking the bull by the horns having been kept on this season, hopefully he comes good in the second half of the season but definitely that 2B position is one that could do with an upgrade if he abd Swenson continue to not get it done with the bat. Good to see Ramirez bringing that bat to the majors and still being very effective. Shame he's not more talented defensively. Saldana has had a struggle coming back but he's good enough to pull thru fur us second half of the season and prove his worth in the bullpen. I agree with avery and would like to see him worked on in the dev lab to see if there's any way to get that stamina in an upward trend. I think we've got enough depth to give that a go despite the losses that are likely coming soon in the pitching. If it fails then look at trading him.
Hopefully Mr. Saldana's stamina can be built back up, I've seen it happen a few times. Unrelated, is there a way to ensure that Mr. Richards is DHing on days where he's not catching (maybe set him to be the second string DH playing every fourth day)? Seems like a huge loss to only have him in the lineup for ~70% of our games. I agree that might look to upgrade at 2B, but it doesn't seem likely that you'll be able to find someone there before the deadline that isn't outrageously expensive.
That is an interesting idea on Saldana. Given the money he's making I'll probably just try to trade him in the offseason, but if that doesn't work out, it would make sense to get him into the development lab and hope we can rebuild him somewhat, thanks for the thought! I only play Markley at C when Richards is too tired to go, since Jonah is so good behind the plate. I guess I could try to get a few more games out of him at DH, but then I would lose out on his great defense at C more often. Right now, he has started over 80% of our games behind the plate (71/88) and also been used as pinch hitter seven more times when he did not start, so he's played in almost 89% of our games. He has a 4.6 WAR through the team's first 88 games this year, versus a 4.6 WAR all last season when he started 154 games, primarily at DH, so I'm pretty confident he's adding value with his defense. If I had a bum at DH I might be more inclined to mess around with things, but Ramirez is having a solid rookie year as our everyday DH so far. Second base is definitely meh right now... but maybe there will be something more interesting to do that emerges before the trade deadline!
It stinks that Saldana and to a lesser degree Camunez have not been able to extend their success, but at least they are not busts. I noted that Godina has more walks than strikeouts(!)- awesome. I agree that 2B might be a place to upgrade, but our budget being what it is acts like a straight jacket. I also agree with whyme that Saldana goes before the end of the deadline. If nothing else, this season proves that as a GM you always have to be adding pitching every year, it’s just too volatile. We might take a step back next season due to budget, but perhaps one of our rookies will shine. I know one thing, next version we need to play with at least an average payroll team!! 😅
Ha, I have done a little bit of thinking about next season, but still not sure which direction I will go yet! I'm less worried about Saldana's contract right now, my hope is he can help in the bullpen this year and maybe we look to get the money off the books in the offseason to make the financial obligations next season a little more manageable.
Haha, would have been nice if I could have scammed someone! I'm not really that worried about his contract Just looked offline, and the market for him is stronger than it was when I checked during the episode. I think we'll keep him for the rest of this season, since in theory he should help make our bullpen better, and then look to move on in the offseason. We might not get a ton in return, but I don't think I'll need to add in important prospects with him to get him off the books and save some money for next season.

I think you need to trade Saldana ASAP. Bit of a shame you couldn’t hoodwink anyone with the changed stamina.
